The presented recent results included broadband antenna elements with multi-frequency matching circuits and the use of tunable or selectable centre frequency. All the solutions are based on the idea of shifting complexity from the 3D antenna element structure to RF circuit structures. Yaghjian","doi":"10.1109/ANTEM.2005.7852169","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ANTEM.2005.7852169","url":null,"abstract":"In a recent report [1] we have employed the source scattering-matrix formulation [2] with vector spherical wave functions [3]–[4] to investigate traveling electromagnetic waves on infinite linear periodic arrays of lossless penetrable (magnetodielectric) spheres. It is assumed that either the spheres are sufficiently small that only the dipole scattered fields can be excited, or the frequency is such that all the scattered multipole fields are negligible except the dipole fields. Accordingly, the sphere scattering is treated using only electric and magnetic dipole vector spherical waves, the dipoles being orthogonal to each other and to the array axis. A summary of this work was presented at a recent conference [5]. Although our investigation was motivated in part by the recent theoretical demonstration by Holloway et al. The proposed antenna is a multi-band single-feed PIFA operating in the IEEE 802.11a (5150–5350 MHz, 5725–5825MHz), IEEE 802.11b,g (2400–2484 MHz) and HIPERLAN2 (5470–5725MHz) frequency bands. The broad impedance bandwidth is achieved by combining a trapezoidal feed plate with two different resonance paths in the radiating patch. The overall size of the antenna makes it suitable to be mounted on the border of the display of a laptop computer. Parasitic subarrays are coupled to radiating edges, nonradiating edges or all four edges of the patch. These subarrays create new resonance frequencies which interfere with the main resonance frequency and improve the bandwidth. Gupta et al. [1] used segmentation method to optimize the gap dimensions and parasitic patch dimensions to obtain bandwidth as large as 10%. In this paper we set gap coupling and parasitic dimensions fixed and use genetic algorithm combined with FDD method for simulation and optimization of the problem. Our goal is to increase return loss bandwidth. Genetic Algorithm (GA) is performed on the parasitic subarrays with no change on the main patch. At each iteration of GA we remove some defined cells form the parasitic patches and simulate the structure to monitor bandwidth width enhancement, Such iteration is performed several times to obtain good bandwidth. Main patch is designed at 9 GHz, and parasitic patches have the same dimension as the main patch. U-251 MG cell line was sham-exposed or exposed to low power density millimeter radiation for different duration, from 1h to 33h. Using the transfection technique, we analyzed the gene expression for reporter genes previously shown highly sensitive to many environmental insults. We have tested the influence of 60GHz radiations on 3 different gene expression systems, overlaying the main cellular response pathways to physical and chemical stresses. No statistically significant difference was detected in transcriptional activity of reporter genes after radiation exposure. In this paper, undesired effects of the transmission channel on the performance of the LS-CMA based beamformer are investigated both theoretically and through simulations. Our general approach for finite perfectly electric conducting (PEC) strip gratings printed on a dielectric substrate with a PEC ground plane is based on the parametric representations of the integral and pseudo-differential operators and Method of Discrete Singularities (MDS). Diffraction problem is first reduced to hypersingular integral equation. Then this equation is solved using the MDS. Finite-order Cantorian set strip grating is investigated numerically.
