Specifically, the ability to support the mobility of entire networks of IP enabled devices that are oblivious to the changing network conditions beneath them is particularly useful to numerous scenarios such as vehicle based networks and personal area networks (PAN). In this paper, we present an efficient and scalable approach that allows mobile networks to intercommunicate and be reachable via the Internet both directly (via their own Internet connection) and indirectly (via another mobile network with an Internet connection). The implemented approach is based on the concept of combining the beneficial features of mobile ad-hoc networking (MANET) protocols and the network mobility basic support (NEMO BS) protocol to develop what is known as a MANEMO solution. In the paper we highlight the key performance characteristics of our protocol through analysis of our implementation in a testbed environment.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131754000","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

If this hole cannot be triangulated by edges between pairs of nodes closer that 2 units from each other, the boundary of the hole is detected accurately with the minimum number of edges. It is shown to be error-free by thousands of simulations with different random topologies and node densities. Because of its high reliability and modest requirements for computing power and memory, 3MeSH-DR is an efficient solution for hole detection and recovery without location information in real sensor network applications.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"3 6","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131776324","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Regretably, little work about this problem, especially from the perspective of practical interests, has been reported in the present literature. To issue this problem, in this paper, we propose an improved network coding scheme which is based on the new mechanisms of clustered network coding, random choice and independence checking. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the additional computational overheads significantly and achieve better performance than current used network coding scheme.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130967499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present a framework to analyze the performance of multiuser diversity in the multiuser two-hop cooperative relay networks (TCRN). Based on this framework, we derive tight closed-form expressions of outage probability and symbol error probability (SEP) for amply-and-forward (AF) protocol with multiuser diversity. Both the theoretical analysis and simulations show that in multiuser TCRN, a multiuser diversity order equals to 2K can be achieved (where K is the number of users). This conclusions help to design the scheduling methods in cooperative relay networks.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"32 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133718967","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The mechanism is based on the idea of extending the UMTS-WLAN interworking architecture specified by 3GPP to enable the routing of the data traffic through multiple IPsec tunnels that span multiple IP-based access networks. The approach provides for a straightforward integration of the routing function with the IMS policing framework, whose network resource management policies may be mapped into a set of IPsec rules. The proposed mechanism enables a continuous adaptation of the data traffic routing to the momentary availability of the network resources.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"145 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133292226","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, we present an OVC-based network architecture and key technologies for achieving virtual bulk-data transmission with a group of wavelengths. To offset the relative delay-difference among the grouped optical channels (wavelengths), a dynamic detection and compensation mechanism based on 40-Gb/s/ch OTN physical-layer multiframe architecture is proposed and discussed in detail. Using recently developed OVC hardware, 40-Gb/s/ch parallel transmission is demonstrated for the first time, and system performance is evaluated.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"116 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124060923","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

IP mobility support is indispensable in large-scale WMNs. In this paper, we introduce a novel WMN architecture where Proxy Mobile IPv6 (PMIPv6) is employed as an IP mobility support protocol. Due to the tunneling procedure in PMIPv6, PMIPv6-based WMNs can lead to long packet delivery latency especially in voice over IP (VoIP) applications. Therefore, we propose a hybrid robust header compression (ROHC) scheme where either end-to-end header compression or hop-by-hop header compression is dynamically determined depending on the packet delay requirement. Simulation results demonstrate that the hybrid ROHC scheme can effectively reduce packet delivery latency in PMIPv6-based wireless networks.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"112 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124133059","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

{"title":"Utilizing Tracking Data in RFID-Equipped Warehouses","authors":"Z. Berényi, H. The effected main areas are highway surveillance systems, access cards, transport payments, RFID passports and product tracking systems. Tagged products can be tracked in an appropriately equipped warehouse with the help of the installed RFID readers. By deploying a grid of RFID readers the movement of the customers can be monitored because of a tag attached to the shopping cart or the products stored in it. In this paper, assuming such an environment, it has been examined how relevant information can be retrieved with the help of data mining methods from the collected, RFID-related tracking data. The frequent sequences have been extracted, revealing the most visited spots and walks across the warehouse and the typical products selected along the way. This warehouse technology is not widespread yet, hence the effeciency of the algorithm could only be examined by conducting measurements on synthetic tracking data generated by a simulation environment.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"55 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122936103","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By modeling a resource management problem as a game, some aspects of a real-world implementation have to be relaxed. For instance, the number of players in a game is conventionally assumed constant but in real networks it changes over time. Furthermore, the available computing power of wireless sensor nodes is limited because of energy and simple hardware constraints. Hence, games require utility functions with low complexity. In this paper, some aspects of evolutionary game theory are borrowed to address these issues. Our approach results in a simple algorithm, which avoids theoretical modeling aspects not hold in real world applications.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122984364","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The combined one sample per chip hard-limiting digital matched filters (HL-DMF) and serial correlators are applied to the timing recovery algorithm. Multiple-dwell PN code detection engine is used, which gives much more accurate timing recovery in terms of lower false detection probability and lower probability of missing the synchronization signal. The hardware resource is substantially reduced, and more conducive to implementation and ASIC design. Simulation and hardware test show that both in the presence of Gaussian noise and in multipath fading channels, the performance is very good when using this method, particularly in the situation of the low SNR.","PeriodicalId":360127,"journal":{"name":"ICC Workshops - 2008 IEEE International Conference on Communications Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2008-05-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123398279","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
