It has been used in formalizing linear temporal requirements as well as in designing model checking algorithms. In this work we extend Büchi automaton to the domain of specification-based testing. We developed test criteria and techniques essential for testing a system with formal requirements in Büchi automata. At the core of our approach are two Büchi-automaton-based test criteria that select test cases based on their relevancy to a requirement in Büchi automaton. The relevancy is based on the notion of transition coverage on Büchi automaton. We define \"weak\" and \"strong\" variants of transition coverage criteria that reflect the non-deterministic nature of a Büchi automaton. Our experiment demonstrates the effectiveness of the proposed transition coverage criteria by measuring cross-coverage of these transition coverage criteria versus other existing test criteria. To improve test efficiency, we provide model-checking-assisted algorithms that fully automate test vector generations for the transition coverage criteria. In addition, we propose property refinement using the feedback from the test generation algorithm. The benefits of our approach are two-fold: (1) it enables the effective and efficient testing with formal requirements in Büchi automata; and, (2) our approach is capable of not only finding bugs in a system, but also identifying deficiency in its requirements via property refinement.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"69 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115306891","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is frequently used as a baseline metric to measure yield efficiency in precision farming. A major challenge in mapping yield for specialty crops is how to collect accurate yield data without incurring substantial overhead to a farming operation. We design a yield efficiency analysis system that uses a cloud-based computing platform to acquire and analyze yield data. By reusing labor data collected by a cloud-based labor monitoring system that we developed earlier, our system calculates yield data from labor data, and computes yield map in real time and without the overhead for data acquisition. A distinctive feature of our approach is the introduction of a customizable yield distribution function that quantifies the probability of geographic distribution of fruits weighted at a Labor Monitoring Device. Practitioners may define yield distribution functions based on operational characteristics of an orchard, enabling our system adaptive for a variety of orchards with different harvesting operations and canopy architecture. Using a multi-tenancy software architecture, our system can support multiple orchards concurrently with improved scalability and data privacy. Our system has been deployed and tested on Amazon Web Services (AWS).","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115475210","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, large cities are also more vulnerable to natural disasters, which have caused widespread physical destructions, great loss of life and property, and immense havoc. \"Which city is less susceptible to natural disasters?\" is thus one of the most critical questions one faces when making decisions on travelling or job and business relocation. In this work, we propose a bipartite-graph based framework to compare the impacts of disasters on two cities by answering different queries using textual documents collected online. Besides intuitive simple comparison using statistics, our system also generates textual comparative summaries to better describe the differences between the two cities in terms of safety. Although a number of online services provide disaster events statistic information for cities, our framework compares the impacts of disasters on cities in a more straightforward and comprehensive way.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130271330","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, for low dimensional datasets the diversity among the trees falls sharply for the Random Forest algorithm. To increase the ensemble accuracy by inducing more diversity among the decision trees we take a different approach. In Random Forest, the size of the bootstrap files remains the same every time to generate a decision tree as the base classifier. We propose to vary the size of the bootstrap samples randomly within a predefined range in order to increase the forest accuracy. We conduct an elaborate experimentation on several different datasets from UCI Machine Learning Repository. The experimental results show the worthiness of our proposed technique.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128375359","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Unfortunately, during such modernization often leaves behind artifacts that are difficult to understand for those other than its author. Thus, the Object Management Group (OMG) has defined standards in the modernization process, by creating the concept of Architecture-Driven Modernization (ADM). Nevertheless, to the best of our knowledge, there is no a systematic mapping study providing an overview of how researchers have been employing ADM. Thus, we assert that there is a need for a more systematic investigation of the topics encompassed by this research area. Objective: To describe a systematic mapping study on ADM, highlighting the main research thrusts in this field. Method: We undertook a systematic mapping study, emphasizing the most important electronic databases. Results: We identified 30 primary studies, which were classified by their contribution type, focus area, and research type. Conclusion: This systematic mapping can be seen as a valuable initial foray into ADM for those interested in doing research in this field. More specifically, our paper provides an overview of the current state of the art and future trends in software modernization area, which may serve as a road-map for researchers interested in coming up with new tools and processes to support the modernization of legacy systems.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130429143","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A key component for the wide-spread success and applicability of ZigBee-based networking solutions will be its ability to provide enhanced security mechanisms that can scale to hundreds of nodes. Currently, however, an area of concern is the ZigBee key management scheme, which uses a centralized approach that introduces well-known issues of limited scalability and a single point of vulnerability. Moreover, ZigBee key management uses a public key infrastructure. Due to these limitations, we suggest replacing ZigBee key management with a better candidate scheme that is decentralized, symmetric, and scalable while addressing security requirements. In this work, we investigate the feasibility of implementing Localized Encryption and Authentication Protocol (LEAP+), a distributed symmetric based key management. LEAP+ is designed to support multiple types of keys based on the message type that is being exchanged. In this paper, we first conduct a qualitative security analysis of LEAP+ and the current ZigBee key management scheme. Using the QualNet 5.0.2 simulator, we implement LEAP+ on the ZigBee platform for the very first time. Experimental results show that a distributed key management scheme such as LEAP+ provides improved security and offers good scalability.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132837657","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To support them in detecting critical situations within this information flood and taking timely actions, operators thus need adequate information fusion and decision support systems. Research efforts on such dedicated Situation Awareness (SAW) systems have concentrated on assisting the operator in managing the current situations. However, little focus has been so far on integratively supporting the different phases of knowledge management in SAW systems, which encompasses the acquisition, representation, validation, maintenance and reuse of knowledge gathered for and during the use of these systems, such as configuring and maintaining suitable situation templates and exploiting already assessed situations. If operators and domain experts are not supported in these tasks, however, this may discourage them from a successful adoption of such systems in real-world control center applications, as user studies revealed. Based on these, and the lessons learned from the application of our SAW system implementations BeAware! and CSI to the domain of road traffic control, we therefore propose a first step towards a tool suite fostering knowledge management in SAW systems, which stretches from the configuration phase of the system to its runtime maintenance in the light of evolving environments and user needs.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"14 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134215824","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Life-saving prescription medication extended in an emergency by one individual to another occurs on a micro level, anecdotally documented. We propose CAI-PrefixSpan, a new data mining algorithm to obtain confident timed sequential patterns from sequential databases. Based on PrefixSpan, it takes advantage of the pattern-growth approach. After a particular event sequence, it would first calculate the confidence level regarding the eventual occurrence of a particular event. For those pass the minimal confidence requirement, it then computes the minimal time interval that satisfies the support requirement. It then generates corresponding projected databases, and applies itself recursively on the projected databases. With the timing information, it obtains fewer but more confident sequential patterns. CAI-PrefixSpan is implemented along with PrefixSpan. They are compared in terms of numbers of patterns obtained and execution efficiency. Our effectiveness and performance study shows that CAI-PrefixSpan is a valuable and efficient approach in obtaining timed sequential patterns.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"423 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122514820","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Road safety is a major issue in urban planning. Much of the empirical research on road safety and determining the probability of accidents has focused on the accident events. While human error and mechanical failure are common causes of road traffic accidents, the importance of spatial factors has been underestimated. Classifications of road accident are generally based on the available data associated with the accident itself such as time of day, type of injury, type of vehicle, etc. This can often limit the understanding of the complexities of road accidents which can be the outcome of a number of environmental, social and economic factors neglected by the standard accident data collection. This study is based on the assumption that road accidents occurring in similar areas are spatially dependent because of the increased density of accidents in the specific area. This dependence is argued to be the result of a shared common cause(s) between the accidents, albeit of varying intensity. Analysis of road accidents, particularly the spatial patterns of accidents requires further attention. This study aims to highlight some of the gaps in the research with particular attention to spatial classification of road accidents. This paper proposes an approach towards developing a comprehensive classifier system which utilizes historical as well as real-time data for any given road and outputs the probability of accident on any given time on that road. This classifier system is built by considering the exclusive spatial attributes of every road to determine the severity and importance of these attribute data on frequent accidents.","PeriodicalId":360013,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE 15th International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration (IEEE IRI 2014)","volume":"45 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-08-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115997190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
