Based on a survey on social software such as collaborative tagging for the purpose of collaboration on the Web, at first we analyze requirements for the social software as a collaboration support system for scientific researchers. Next we apply agent-based methodology to develop an agent-based model of research collaboration in collaborative tagging system that satisfies the requirements. Then we validate the model by comparing its functionalities to the existing collaborative tagging systems. Finally we conclude the paper and mention our future work","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130445835","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

RBAC needs to search relative tables to get the user's permissions. We present an access control judgment algorithm which bases on artificial neural network (ANN). The algorithm reduces the data transmission using bit string to express roles and permissions. The algorithm employs set theory to represent roles and their inheritance hierarchy, as well as conflicted permissions. It uses selected roles as input vectors and the matching permissions which contain no conflict as the output vectors to train the ANN. Then it uses the trained ANN to compute directly users' permissions when the system is under running condition, instead of searching tables. That improves the efficiency of access control. The algorithm is simple and efficient, which makes it easy to be realized in wireless networks","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128809955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Easy access to these services has also fueled the need for automating the overall negotiation and decision making process. The annual Trading Agent Competition (TAC) is an international forum designed to provide a competitive benchmark for the trading agents developers around the world. The first TAC was held in July, 2000. In the TAC-Classic category, travel agents compete against each other to assemble travel packages on behalf of several clients. The objective of the travel agent is to maximize the total satisfaction of its clients. During the competition, travel agents may perform three crucial tasks: allocation of resources according to the clients' preferences, prediction of air ticket and hotel prices, and bidding in respective auctions for the required goods. In this paper, we review the algorithms, techniques and heuristics used by the agents which have the highest scores in the last six years of tournaments","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127239562","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multi-agent system (MAS), which shows its intelligence by the interaction of a group of intelligent agents, is a popular tool for building novel intrusion detection systems (IDSs). The BDI (belief-desire-intention) model is a well studied architecture of agency for intelligent agents situated in complex and dynamic environments. Traditional MAS-based distributed IDSs commonly do their detection work within a framework that employs the method of distributed data collection and hierarchical data analysis. This is a simple and strict method, but it restricts the characteristic of distributing, intelligence and real-time response badly. In this paper, we present a dynamically-created hierarchical framework, and then bring forward the basic algorithm system to support it. We introduce the opponent BDI model to our agents, and realize the detection based on multi-agent cooperation, which effectively improves the traditional distributed intrusion detection","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"3 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114452681","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper describes a method developed for the automatic clustering of documents by using a hybrid classifier based on rough sets and neural networks, which we called as Rough-Ann. First, the documents are denoted by vector space model and the feature vectors are reduced by using rough sets. Then using those feature vectors we reduced that are training set for artificial neural network and clustering the documents. The experimental results show that the algorithm Rough-Ann is effective for the documents classification, and has the better performance in classification precision, stability and fault-tolerance comparing with the traditional classification methods, Bayesian classifiers SVM and kNN, especially for the complex classification problems with many feature vectors","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"82 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126168841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Clustering techniques are used as the basis of many existing approaches for developing adaptive Web sites. However the used clustering techniques limit the efficiency of these approaches. We developed a new soft clustering technique to be used as the underlying technique for adaptive Web sites. In particular, it proposes the use of soft k-medoids technique to provide a more efficient solution to the index page synthesis problem. The performance of the proposed systems is evaluated using real data. The performance evaluation experiments showed the effectiveness of the proposed systems. Also, the experiments showed the scalability of the proposed systems for an increasing number of users and for an increasing size of Web logs","PeriodicalId":358971,"journal":{"name":"2006 IEEE/WIC/ACM International Conference on Web Intelligence and Intelligent Agent Technology Workshops","volume":"67 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2006-12-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128187505","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Because of the growing complexity of knowledge-intensive tasks, a profiling technique is needed to deliver task-relevant documents to workers. In this study, we propose a task-stage identification technique that provides effective document support throughout the execution of a task. A pattern similarity analysis method based on the correlation value is used to identify a worker's task-stage. The results are incorporated into a profile adaptation process to generate the worker's current task profile. We conducted a pilot study in a research institute.
