Previous researchers include the implementation of time series, auto-regression and Soft computing techniques like Artificial Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic. Artificial Neural Networks provides a better flt to complex, non-linear and error-prone data. The paper shows a comparative study of a Radial Basis Neural Network Schema (exact fit), a ‘k-means’ Radial Neural Network, and a Feed Forward Neural Network with Levenberg-Marquardt error backpropagation designed for the prediction of power output at an hourly resolution. The ability of the Neural Network to be trained to adapt to a previous set of data and then interpolate or extrapolate to the new data set has been exploited. The proposed model uses five meteorological variables and uses recorded data collected from the SN Mohanty PV Power Plant. Training of neural network is done on a monthly basis so that normalization constants of variables can be lower and better mapping can be produced. An improveddecision-based schematic using Neural Networks is proposedwhich combines the advantages of both Radial Basis Function (exact fit) and FFNN.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121974038","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We need the coal for various operations, especially electrical power generation. However mining the coal has proven to be very dangerous and has caused many accidental deaths over the years. Keeping this in mind we have designed an intelligent system which can be used on helmets of these underground coal miners and can monitor/analyze a few major hazardous parameters found in these mines in real time. This includes humidity, temperature and gas contents such as methane and sulfur dioxide. These parameters, if above a certain level, can cause choking, suffocation, flooding, gas poisoning, roof collapse or explosions. Our system can detect these parameters, analyze them in real time and alert the ground control and the worker about the situation using a buzzer. Compact sensors and radio frequency modules are used to ensure practicality.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"255 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133645617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The disease of the maize plantation not only affect the nutritional balance but also the economics related to the crop. In this paper, an automated image processing method is proposed to identify the rust affected maize leaves and differentiate them from the healthy maize leaves. Segmentation and quantification of the rusted portion from the images of the maize leaf is done. The rust affected portion is accurately quantified of the maize leaf using morphological operations and area based thresholding to make the algorithm computationally efficient. Quantification of the segmented rusted spots is done to measure the degree of damage done by the crop disease. The results obtained from the proposed methodology are encouraging and can be used in agricultural industry for some real-time detection of diseases affecting the productivity of crops.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115989390","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Reduction of the capacity or amount of these areas is proportional to alteration in the neo-pallium in specimen brain suffering from neural impairment, degeneration, or deterioration, or various neurologic conditions. Particularly, the slice width of the neo-pallium across the edges of the cerebral white and grey neural tissue areas can be used in assessing the neural damage in a specimen brain for evaluating the neurologic impairment. The research herewith suggests a procedural algorithmic program for the extraction of the cerebral white and grey neural tissue areas from cerebral scans of specimen brains implemented as a computer program for supporting neurological experts in evaluating physiological reduction in neural and cerebral matter from cerebral imaging sessions. This program can also be easily implemented on the systems within the brain imaging department or division of imaging centers in hospitals. This program could provide prognosis of neurologic disease and the stage of neural damage by running the completely computerized analysis of cerebral scans with the procedural step-wise methods and techniques described in this paper, and visualizing the marked cerebral white and grey neural tissue areas within the cerebral scans.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"66 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128614887","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To achieve acceptable accuracy in classification of hand activities using signals acquired from muti-channel sEMG system, the utility of various features and algorithms for reducing the size of the feature set have been reported extensively in literature. In this paper, an approach to select the channels that may be better suited for classification is proposed. The selection of channels is based on the feature selection algorithm namely minimal redundancy maximal relevance method. The proposed algorithm is applied on actual sEMG signals for two set of hand activities to assess the utility of the channels in activity classification. The results are validated by determining the extent of degradation in classification accuracies provided by the support vector machine classifier, when certain sEMG channels are excluded from classification.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116693163","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Several Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDPS) applicable with different functionalities exist. While most adopters focus on general security tools for physical networks, the attention given to IDPS specifically designed for securing hypervisors is very low. This study exposes the level of awareness of IDPS tools among key public and private adopters of server virtualization technologies in Tanzania. Only few adopters have slight awareness of the tools while majority are not aware at all, thus with respondents (N)=38, the Median was either 1.5 or 2.0 in 5-levels of scaling awareness for 8 IDS and 5 IPS tools. This awareness status implies a serious knowledge gap that is insufficient to ensure maximum protection of systems and data in virtualized infrastructures, thus adopters operate at high security risks. The need to build security skills of adopters is vital to attain maximum security of their assets.","PeriodicalId":358555,"journal":{"name":"2018 4th International Conference on Computational Intelligence & Communication Technology (CICT)","volume":"140 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-02-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123144013","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
