Consequently, this has led contractors struggling to complete the project on schedule, within the client's budget and quality parameters. This was proven by the current issues on the delayed projects reported in the Ninth Malaysian Plan. Currently in Malaysia, there is no existing risk management framework specifically designed for contractors. Thus, the idea of introducing CIRIM among the Malaysian contractors is a proactive approach to achieve better project objectives. This paper therefore proposes to introduce the CIRIM framework to be adopted by the Malaysian contractors. The research methodology applied in the main research includes literature reviews, questionnaires and interviews. It is found that although there are some forms of risk management systems being used in the Malaysian construction industry, most of them are not well structured, documented and implemented in a formal manner. In this research, human breast adenocarcinoma (MCF-7), human colorectal carcinoma (HCT116), human hepatocellular carcinoma (HepG2) and adenocarcinoma human alveolar basal epithelial (A549) cell lines were treated with both extracts and further diagnosed the viability using 3- (4,5 - dimethylthiazol-2-y) - 5 - (3-carboxymetaxyphenyl) 2- (4- sulphophenyl) - 2H - tetrazolium (MTS) assay. T.crispa and Gelam honey have showed anti-proliferative effects to selected cancer cell lines. The maximal effect of T. crispa and Gelam honey were demonstrated on HepG2 (IC50 = 9.13 µg/ml) and HCT116 (IC50 = 3.98 %, v/v) accordingly. In addition, we revealed that Gelam honey exhibited anti-proliferative effect on MCF-7. While the finest preparation of T.crispa crude extract revealed a potential result compared to previous studies. The displacement is converted into equivalent capacitance by optimally fixed stack of plates and an electrical signal is picked up from it proportional to capacitance. This signal picked up is then calibrated for pressure acting on the capsules. Use of dual capsule structure doubles the capacitance compared to single capsule structure and this increases the sensitivity nearly two folds. Cylindrical plates are used as capacitor plates to concede maximum capacitance from the available space. The construction details of the dual capsule structure, theory and performance analysis are presented. Also presented are the modifications for realizing differential pressure sensor with the dual capsule structure. The rate of energy absorption was analyzed and comparison between different parameters was made. RETScreen was used to determine the cost of developing the stand-alone photovoltaic system and finally deriving to the cost per kilowatt hour for the various photovoltaic technologies taking into consideration all major components involved in the construction. Life cycle costing is employed over a period of 25 years subject to annual interest rates and inflation to accurately ascertain the cost per kilowatt hour for each photovoltaic module. A price comparison was undertaken between the national utility company and the stand-alone system. When wood is below the fibre saturation point (FRP), it induces the dimensional changes. Dimensional changes in wood are a major source of defect in finishing product that can reduce the quality of the product itself. Shrinkage and swelling of wood occur as a result of moisture content change in atmospheric humidity. Swelling and shrinkage of wood could not be avoided, therefore it is important to study the properties so the effects can be minimized. This study was conducted to determine the variability of swelling and shrinkage characteristics of Kapur (Dryobalanops aromatica) in three different anatomical directions; radial, tangential and longitudinal. For swelling test, Kapur samples were immersed in the water while for shrinkage, the samples were dried in the oven. Results from the study showed that percentage of swelling and shrinkage vary in each direction. The samples swell and shrink the most at the tangential direction compared to the other two directions. Meanwhile, the swelling-shrinkage in the longitudinal direction can be considered as negligible. Result shows that Kapur has the mean swelling percentages of 4.20%, 1.99% and 0.33% in tangential, radial and longitudinal, respectively. In contrast to previous studies, this research investigated on co-movement of Islamic equity markets. Emphasis was placed on two questions: do the Islamic stock markets in Asia and US move together and what will be the directions of the movements? The data are obtained from Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) of daily indices of sixteen equity markets, for the period between August 2004 to December 2008. The study uses correlation analysis, Augmented Dickey Fuller, unit root test and Granger causality test. A field survey was undertaken in the pristine forest of Imbak Canyon to identify the major forest types and tree communities, and to document the tree species collected in the study areas. Areas surveyed encompassed a diverse range of tree communities from streamside vegetation, lowland, hill and upper hill mixed dipterocarps up to lower montane heath forests. The survey resulted in the documentation of 40 families of the Angiosperms and Gymnosperms comprises of 85 genera and 149 taxa. The areas are rich with tree species from the families of Dipterocarpaceae, Guttiferae, Lauraceae, Leguminosae and Myristicaceae. Trees from Podocarpaceae family are common montane taxa occurred in highest peak of ridge trail such as Podocarpus neriifolius, Dacrydium elatum, Phyllocladus sp. and Falcifolium falciforme. An interesting finding was the occurrence of Shorea monticola (Dipterocarpaceae) in the summit zone of montane heath forest. As per literature survey, it was found that the cooked Saga seeds, which can be easily digested by humans and livestock, are rich in fats and proteins. The seeds are used to cure boils and inflammations. It is also has an antibacterial property which then has been exploited to produce natural antibacterial liquid hand soap. Extraction of Saga seed oil was done by using three different solvents, namely, hexane, methanol and ethanol. Maximum volume of oil was recovered by using hexane extraction. The extracted saga seed oil was further analyzed by using Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The results showed that the three main components in the oil were Methyl Linoleate Natural, Ethyl Palmitate, and Butyl Streate. These three components are usually contained in commercial oil. For antibacterial test, soap was prepared from the extracted oil and hand is washed by using the soap. Thumb was pressed on Agar plate and the growth of bacteria was observed. The result was compared by using commercial antibacterial soap. The data showed that the bacteria were largely removed when hand was washed by using Saga seed oil soap.
