Here, we took advantage of the zebrafish <i>sly</i> mutation which affects Laminin γ1, a major component of basement membranes, to explore its role in the development of the olfactory system. Following a detailed characterisation of Laminin distribution in the developing olfactory circuit, we analysed basement membrane integrity, olfactory placode and brain morphogenesis, and olfactory axon development in <i>sly</i> mutants, using a combination of immunochemistry, electron microscopy and quantitative live imaging of cell movements and axon behaviours. Our results point to an original and dual contribution of Laminin γ1-dependent basement membranes in organising the border between the olfactory placode and the adjacent brain: they maintain placode shape and position in the face of major brain morphogenetic movements, they establish a robust physical barrier between the two tissues while at the same time allowing the local entry of the sensory axons into the brain and their navigation towards the olfactory bulb. This work thus identifies key roles of Laminin γ1-dependent basement membranes in neuronal tissue morphogenesis and axon development <i>in vivo</i> .</p>","PeriodicalId":35726,"journal":{"name":"New Review of Information Networking","volume":"7 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2024-08-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11383033/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"82386931","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The Internet has become the most popular medium and source for seeking information. The information-seeking behavior is exhibiting itself. In Kashmir, India – users, businesses, and institutions use Internet to access and disseminate information. But, information blockades seem to hamper the seeking and delivering of information. Information blockades have become an increasing occurrence in various countries worldwide. Most often imposed in regions that witness some form of instability, such as economic or political; information blockades disrupt the primary communication channels. However, studies exploring the relationship between information-seeking behavior and information blockades are scarce. This study is a novel call for focusing research endeavors on information-seeking behavior and its antithetical counterpart, i.e. Information blockade. This paper uses various statistical resources and employs an intensive content analysis method to analyze the literature and identify key themes and patterns of research undertaken on information-seeking behavior and information blockades, especially in Kashmir, India. For the current discourse, ostensibly, the two phenomena have an antithetical relationship and more studies need to be conducted to understand the dynamics of how these two phenomena co-exist.","PeriodicalId":35726,"journal":{"name":"New Review of Information Networking","volume":"69 1","pages":"49 - 63"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139363761","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper took the “Comprehensive English” course on the Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) platform as an example, established teaching quality evaluation indicators, designed an evaluation method based on a back-propagation neural network (BPNN), optimized the parameters of the BPNN by the improved genetic algorithm (GA), and established an improved GA-BPNN model. The results found that the error between the output of the improved GA-BPNN model and the actual value was the smallest, between 0.01 and 0.04, showing that the model was stable; the mean absolute percentage error (MAPE) and root-mean-square error (RMSE) of the improved GA-BPNN model were 0.051 and 4.778, respectively, which were superior to BPNN and GA-BPNN models. The results verify the reliability of the improved GA-BPNN model. The model can be applied in practical teaching.","PeriodicalId":35726,"journal":{"name":"New Review of Information Networking","volume":"27 1","pages":"111 - 120"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43479833","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first article, Sümeyye Akça’s Access beyond borders: Linked Open Data applications on cultural heritage, explores the role linked open data (LOD) applications play in the work of cultural memory institutions. With the goal of making collections more discoverable and searchable collections more visible and primed for web-based discovery, Akça draws attention to the many considerations of successfully deploying LOD technologies. Qixiang Wu and Lin He extend the theme of discovery to their work with topic clustering in microblogging, Research on Multi-tag Propagation Clustering Method for Microblog Hot Topic Discovery. With a multi-labelpropagation approach to recommendation algorithms, the team shares ideas for improving the process for connecting users with relevant topics in public opinion. In A study of the effect of hybrid English teaching by teachers using MOOC mode, Zhiming Liu explores hybrid English teaching practices in Massive Open Online Courses (MOOC) learning environments. With a focus on evaluating student learning and engagement, consideration is given to the impact of “learning networks design” to effective educational processes. Shifting the lens from student achievement to faculty performance, Xueqiang Wang’s Research on the evaluation methods of English teaching quality in the context of online education shares a back-propagation neural network (BPNN) method of evaluating online teaching quality. The automation model shared is one step on the road to the application of automation to challenges of quality in online teaching. From the articles in our December issue, it is evident that many researchers working communities connected to NRIN have taken steps toward confronting the challenges of scaling dimensions of discoverability, recommendation activities, and online education. Each of the articles address these issues as they navigate networks of cultural heritage, social media, and distributed learning. As always, if you are engaged in research exploring networks of information, NRIN would love to hear from you. World Wide Web technology offers different tools to fulfill this mission. Among a range of applications, the most effective is the search engines’ search for metadata of collections. However, search engines are not always able to see all sources caused by various problems. Linked data is a publishing technique that uses standard web technologies to associate data with other data and makes them available on the Web. In available literature, it is seen that many memory institutions use Linked Open Data as a solution to the search engine problem with the main motivation of making their collections more accessible. However, these applications are still not at proficient level. In this study, Linked Open Data studies in the available literature were scanned and a process map was created based on these applications. These applications, which especially require technical knowledge and infrastructure, can be confusing for memory institutions that have not yet participated in the process. In this context, it is clear that the process map created as a result of this study will be enlightening for memory institutions. The most important point on the map is that an extensive decision-making mechanism should be formed with the stakeholders before starting the process and the implementation plan should be developed in detail over the problems of existing projects.","PeriodicalId":35726,"journal":{"name":"New Review of Information Networking","volume":"8 1","pages":"71 - 90"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"60362709","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
