The ballast is based on a buck converter to feed a load of high power LED. The load is divided into five high power LED (10W), in automobile lighting systems rapid changes of lighting is required (power changes), therefore the buck converter must deliver constant voltage levels to changes in power and further the current necessary to maintain a flow of light required. To solve this problem this paper proposes a control law for buck converter control, which maintains a fixed voltage level for the different power (10.9W, 21.8W, 32.7W, 43.6W, 54.5W) dynamic response to these changes is fast and constant levels of current and luminous flux at each change of load is maintained.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"195 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131771546","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This control law makes use of an estimation scheme which obtains estimations of the filter parameters in order to cope with the compensation of time-periodic signals arising in the error average model and with the possible existence of harmonics in the grid voltage. An evaluation of the proposed control law is performed by means of numerical simulations where a single-phase H-bridge inverter with unipolar pulse width modulation is used.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115650363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Combinations of converter modules that generate suitable injection voltages for both conditions are obtained. Calculation of the conduction times for each module minimizes voltage harmonics when one of them fails. Moreover, line-frequency and Pulse Width Modulated switched modules are combined when an unbalanced condition is detected. Simulations are carried out that confirm the validity of the proposal.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114833853","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work proposes an alignment method based on the low frequency band power consumption which overrides the high frequency noise. To this end, a Gaussian kernel its used to smooth the power signal in order to obtain the right time where a device is turned on, and therefore making the device characterization task feasible. To develop this kind of systems several steps are required: First the devices within the system must be characterized with its high frequency fingerprint, second a data acquisition system must be implemented to obtain the household feeding voltage frequency components with a very wide spectrum from low to high frequencies. The last step will be the data disaggregation task. Unfortunately, the first step is not straightforward as there are no agreements for the manufacturers to provide their devices frequency fingerprint. Therefore, some training data must be obtained in order to characterize such devices. Unfortunately this task is realized by hand by creating a set of events where the devices are turned on and off along the monitoring period. It is very common for the data to have some misalignment with the monitoring data and therefore no device characterization can be done. Several problems are faced when trying to align the events data set mainly due to the high frequency noise which makes this a very hard task.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"27 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124803698","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

That is, to find objects near a given query. Above certain size-threshold, a sequential scan of the database is too costly to be of use and an index should be used. When the intrinsic dimension of a collection is too high, most metric indexes will perform as bad as an exhaustive scan of the database, as part of the curse of dimensionality. Among the available metric indexes, under high intrinsic dimension, two indexes perform better than others, these are the List of Clusters and AESA; however, they hold a quadratic preprocessing time. In most setups LC is preferred over AESA since the latter needs a quadratic amount of memory while LC use a linear amount. In this paper we tackle the major drawback of the LC, which is the construction time. More detailed, the core of our contribution is the parallelization of the preprocessing and searching algorithms, taking advantage of the capabilities of modern multi-core computer architectures. We did extensive experimentation and report peak efficiencies of 45% to 70% in construction time for our testing datasets (close to 3.5 and 6 times speedup, for our eight core testing hardware). We also reformulated range and nearest neighbor search algorithms ending up with a very high efficiency speedup of 45% and 85% for range queries retrieving 0.01% and 0.02% of the database respectively in real world datasets.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122101283","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The increased number of deaths from cardiovascular disease is because the western way of life, obesity, diabetes and the traditional methods are not able to predict or detect risk factors in individuals with asymptomatic or early stage disease. Obtaining wave reflection parameters is one of the techniques to detect risk factors using a non-invasive biomedical equipment. The aim of this project is to develop a device of non-invasive biomedical instrumentation that allows separating the incident and reflected wave pulse from the measurement of blood pressure and volume using independent component analysis (ICA) as a tool to help physicians predict cardiovascular disease asymptomatic or early stage. ICA is a statistical technique for decomposing multivariate signals into their underlying source components assuming linear mixing of the sources at the sensors. ICA provides and alternative approach for the study of pressure and volume in the cardiovascular system. It is carried out in the time domain and so it is easy to relate the results of the analysis to particular times in the cardiac cycle. The results have shown that the independent component analysis is an appropriate method for incident and reflected waves separation using blood pressure and volume pulse. In conclusion this prototype would help to physician realize a better cardiovascular disease diagnosis.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"65 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129841940","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The overall advantages of use this modeling tool are the explicit consideration of the switching process and its harmonic effects in the formulation. As result, an optimization problem, in which the operating conditions and power quality requirements are explicitly stated as nonlinear restrictions of the problem, is obtained. A case study aimed to minimize the losses of an L-filter based active rectifier is presented, in order to give more detail in the implementation of this proposal. The obtained results show the evolution of the variables involved in the optimal design for several cases as the switching frequency varies. From these results, the optimal switching frequency could be selected along with its optimal design characteristics.","PeriodicalId":357133,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Autumn Meeting on Power, Electronics and Computing (ROPEC)","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-11-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121830289","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
