L’utilisation directe par l’industrie et la filiere petroliere est reelle depuis de nombreuses annees. Le developpement de nouvelles filieres, comme celle de la «geothermie profonde» utilisant le CO2sans transformation, pourrait permettre d’augmenter significativement les quantites de CO2 valorise dans le futur. En effet, la synthese en phase aqueuse represente une alternative aux procedes generalement developpes en solvants organiques. L'eau est un solvant tres abondant, bon marche, non toxique et ininflammable, qualites actuellement tres convoitees a juste raison. D'une part, elle permet d'evaluer la durabilite d'un processus chimique et le cote ecocompatible d'un produit ou d'un procede et, d'autre part, elle s'inspire des principes de la chimie verte afin de reduire son propre impact sur l'environnement. En consequence, la chimie analytique developpe de nouvelles techniques et methodes afin de reduire notamment les volumes d'echantillon, de solvants et de reactifs consommes, la quantite de dechets produits, la consommation d'energie.
