Bereavement photography, particularly in neonatal and pediatric settings, provides families with a tangible way to honor and remember their child, while also helping nurses and caregivers process their grief. Research shows that images are deeply valued as keepsakes of life and love, and when offered with ethical, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches, photography becomes a meaningful part of care. Nurse-led initiatives and hospital-based programs underscore the growing recognition of art as a vital component of quality care, demonstrating how creativity in nursing fosters empathy and resilience and addresses the emotional and spiritual needs of those experiencing loss.</p>","PeriodicalId":35641,"journal":{"name":"Nursing","volume":"56 4","pages":"41-45"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2026-04-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"147499857","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In 2025, a projected 13 360 patients will be diagnosed with CC, and 4320 will die in the United States. Most patients are between the ages of 35 and 44 at the time of diagnosis, with Black, Latina, Hispanic, American Indian, and Alaska Native females having a higher incidence of CC than White females. Black females have the highest mortality because of their comorbidities and disparities in socioeconomic status, access to care, and education level. The highest incidence and mortality of CC occur in lower-income countries because of inequalities in accessing cervical screening and treatment modalities. Public health priorities are reducing CC risks, and improving early recognition, and prompt treatment. Results showed a 76% increase in competency and satisfaction as well as an 86% improvement in knowledge. The findings underscore the importance of structured orientation programs in enhancing faculty retention and satisfaction, which are crucial for addressing the ongoing nursing shortage.
