Early education for children with visual impairments is said to be one of the factors. Learning Braille is no longer a boring lesson to visually impaired children. This paper mediated a new pathway to interlink and translates inputs from keyboard into the most used Braille character automatically and enables normal visually people to have real time interaction with visually impaired person. This system also can be switches to Arabic Braille character to introduce them with Quran language. The output was able to represent each alphabet, number and Arabic letter of the Braille symbol by mechanically raising and lowering pins to create the tactile dots of Braille using solenoid. This method is a low cost, portable, and easy to operate. Experiments show that the method can effectively convert a keyboard as an input into Braille symbol.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"19 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123520239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is extremely problematic for the elderly patients who have difficulties in keeping track of their medicine. Therefore, M3DITRACK3R, an automated medicine dispenser which keep tracks of the dosage and duration between each consumption would be beneficial for senior citizens living independently. Elderly patients that have ageing issues, such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease have difficulties to remember their responsibilities. Poor eyesight as one of the contributors for medicine consumption errors such as misdosage since the elderly finds it troublesome to read the instruction on the medicine case, and identifying the right dosage of the medicine. Physical disabilities such as arthritis makes it difficult for elderly patients to open the cap of a vacuum tight medicine bottle. Hence, this paper presents a robotic application referred as M3DITRACK3R that is able to track the location of patient using the infrared sensor and dispense medicine at the right dosage and at the right time. The hardware and software design are outlined based on critical reviews made over the existing systems. Performance test and user acceptance test have been conducted and satisfactory results are achieved.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"227 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123562750","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One major drawback in OFDM communication is peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). Mainly because of the nonlinearity of the high power amplifier, these results in high out-of-band radiation, inter-carrier interference, and bit error rate performance degradation. Partial transmit sequences (PTS), an attractive technique of PAPR reduction, provides significant PAPR reduction performance for (OFDM) signals. It essentially involves partitioning the OFDM data frame into disjoint sub-blocks. Adjacent partitioning (AP) scheme can be regarded as the best of the existing partitioning schemes when PAPR reduction performance and cost are considered together. In this paper, we study the impact of the size of PTS partitions on the performance through varying the size of the disjoint sub-blocks partition and comparing the PAPR reduction performance of three well known sub-block partitioning schemes namely Adjacent Partitioning (AP), Interleaved Partitioning (IP) and Pseudorandom Partitioning (PRP). Simulation results showed that performance of these PTS schemes largely depends on the chosen size of the partitions.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122440234","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, a time series neural network based approach is introduced to achieve more accurate and reliable performance prediction of machine using condition monitoring data source. The proposed time series model utilizes the various measured condition monitoring data at the current and previous inspection marks as the inputs, and the machine output performance as the targets for the model. To validate the model, it considers a two-shaft industrial gas turbine as a case study. The collected condition monitoring data are used to train and validate the proposed model. Results showed that the proposed time series method could predict the performance of the gas turbine power output with more accuracy and better results.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"61 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114739969","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An important issue addressed in wireless sensor networks is the coverage problem. This latter is centered on a fundamental question: how well do the sensors observe the physical space? A major challenge in coverage problem is how to maximize the lifetime of the network while ensuring coverage of a set of targets. To achieve this, the usual process, consists on scheduling sensors activity, which enables energy dissipation control. Scheduling process goes by activating sensors by round such that in each round, only one subset of sensors that satisfies the coverage requirement is activated, while all other sensors are in a low energy mode and will be activated later. In this paper, we propose a weight-based greedy algorithm (WGA) which organizes sensors in multiple subsets. Our objective is to partition an initial set of sensors into a maximum possible number of sensors set covers (SSCs), which can completely monitor targets in a region of interest. Performance evaluation of WGA have proven its efficiency over some well-known algorithms proposed in the literature, in term of computed set covers.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126443571","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In fact, micro strip patch antenna has gain greater popularity because of their many advantages such as, light weight, low fabrication cost, polarization diversity and ease of integration with microwave integrated circuits. This paper covers the Quad ring patch antenna design for UHF (Ultra high frequency) and VHF (very high frequency) application. The Quad ring patch antenna will have a gain of 10 dB and above. Four ring patch antennas are placed in the array form and are joined by a Wilkinson power divider at one point in order to equally divide the power among the circular ring and make the power lossless. A Balun was incorporated at the feed point of the antenna so as to match the impedance of the coaxial cable with the impedance of the Quad ring patch antenna in order to ensure maximum power transfer. This uniquely designed array structure was tested on television application and the result shows that such portable array of reduced size was well receptive towards such frequency range. This portable antenna which was kept at close proximity with the television was able to produce relatively good quality signal over three channels under a static position. In fact, these results can be very useful while designing micro-strip patch antenna of different structure and array.","PeriodicalId":356190,"journal":{"name":"2014 International Conference on Computer, Communications, and Control Technology (I4CT)","volume":"34 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123181312","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
