During voltage sags, the renewable source-fed voltage source inverter (VSI) may disconnect from the main grid at the point of common coupling. This condition arises due to the Under-voltage/over-current protection in the renewable inverters. This sudden dis-connecting of the inverters may cause voltage collapse, frequency instability, and synchronous angle instability in utility networks with significant penetration of power from renewable inverters, which can result in blackouts. Utility grid rules require low-voltage ride-through capabilities in grid-connected inverters to mitigate this effect. In order to support voltage and reduce volt-age imbalance at the point of common coupling, a symmetrical component-based real and reactive power injection approach has been developed in this study. This technique is implemented by considering the constraint of not exceeding the inverter's rated current capability. The proposed technique effectively boosted the positive sequence voltage component to a reference value by using a PI controller. The negative sequence reactive power was drawn using the remaining reactive power capacity in order to suppress the voltage's negative sequence component. Results are presented in the paper for various voltage sag conditions. The proposed techniques are validated by simulating the model in a Matlab simulink environment.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115131192","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The analysis is carried out in the DR framework with the integration of the thermal plant, the biogas unit, the solar thermal trough (PTST), and the wind farms. However, an electric vehicle (EV) application is utilized that jointly meets some of the uncontracted demand. A thorough examination of the test system that uses the DR technique greatly enhances the frequency regulation services, which provide a significant improvement over conventional frequency regulation in terms of system dynamics. Sensitivity analysis with a ± 25% variation in system parameters is also taken into account while analyzing system dynamic behavior using the DR framework.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115268484","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to have power reserve for providing the upward frequency regulation in the case of falling grid frequency, these PV systems are operated at an active power less than the maximum available power according to these grid codes. Previously published power reserve control strategies are either very complex to implement or they have used the expensive solar irradiation and temperature sensors. Hence this paper has proposed a novel power reserve control strategy which is very easy to implement and do not require expensive solar irradiation and temperature sensors. Performance of the proposed power reserve control strategy is verified for the change in the power reserve command using MATLAB/SIMULINK simulation results.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"27 11","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"120911896","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Furthermore, compared to other existing power quality enhancement devices, UPQCs can concurrently improve both voltage and current profiles. To enhance their power quality issue compensation capability, multilevel inverters can replace the traditional two-level inverters in UPQCs. This study aims to investigate the behavior of diode-clamped multilevel inverters based UPQC when integrated with a Photovoltaic system in the presence of non-linear loads. Finally, a MATLAB/Simulink simulation was conducted to observe the performance of the proposed UPQC configuration by utilizing synchronous reference frame (SRF) and hysteresis control methods. The simulation results when obtained from both control strategies were compared to identify which method can improve the operating capability of the proposed UPQC configuration.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"136 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127353293","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Consequently, this research aims to investigate the optimal location and capacity for DG based on multiple objectives, such as the minimization of active power losses, the improvement of the voltage profile, and the cost reduction of the network. To this end, an algorithm inspired by the behavior of lion ants, known as the Ant Lion Optimizer (ALO), has been proposed as a possible solution. The ALO algorithm is a nature-inspired meta-heuristic that can provide near-optimal solutions for complex real-world optimization problems. Thus, the ALO algorithm is expected to provide solutions close to optimal while being computationally efficient.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126834399","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this work, Deadzone oscillator (DZO) based VOC and Hopf oscillator (HO) based VOC is presented to regulate the parallel inverters in a standalone microgrid (MG). The voltage amplitude and frequency reference of the inverters are coming from the oscillator dynamics. The extensive comparison of DZO and HO based control methods with different types of loads is also presented in this work. The HO based control method minimizes harmonic distortion and achieves faster time response compared to DZO based control method. The simulation results show the efficacy of the HO based control method.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126943843","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In present times, people are more inclined towards renewable sources of energy such as wind and solar energy. More focus is on advanced microgrid technology at the load side. Because of several issues of protection and interconnection of generators, most of the typical traditional power grids are no longer used. In the current years, there has been positive perception about the renewable energy resources into electrical power system is validated by major focus due to its weariless, green energy utilization, its recycling capabilities and storage capabilities, less maintenance. Therefore, it indicated a sign of growing strong economy. Use of artificial intelligence and deep learning knowledge shall help in choosing the source of energy considering the cost of generation. Seasonally cost of generation will vary for different sources of energy. If such data is analysed through cloud storage, it can be processed through selected by different sources shall lead to a super saving. In the context of commercial buildings., the electricity bill comprises energy usage in kWh and peak demand in kW. To reduce peak demand and thus electricity costs., a hybrid solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BES) can be used to replace grid energy requirements. Yet., despite their attractiveness., PV and BES introduce another dimension of complexity. Therefore., careful selection of PV and BES capacity based on load demand is required to reduce total investment costs and the monthly electricity bill without sacrificing reliability. The PV -BES system is developed for a 20-year operating period using a single-objective optimization approach to reduce the objective function., which is the total net present cost (NPC). In this paper., a PV -BES energy management system with peak shaving is designed using real-time load patterns., solar insolation., ambient temperature., Malaysian net energy metering (NEM)., and the limitation of maximum exporting power supplied to the grid. Based on a scenario where PV capacity is constrained by the availability of rooftop space and NEM rates., the optimal PV and BES capacities are obtained for the analyzed system. The case study demonstrates that the average monthly cost of electricity bills could be reduced by 22.27%. It also revealed that the annual energy consumption and peak demand could be reduced by 22.62% and 15.85%., respectively., with additional benefits by selling 6177.782 kWh of electricity to the grid. The proposed method could be useful for sizing the PV-BES system for any Malaysian commercial building.","PeriodicalId":355921,"journal":{"name":"2023 IEEE IAS Global Conference on Renewable Energy and Hydrogen Technologies (GlobConHT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-03-11","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122021204","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Each space between two transmitters coils a sensor attached to the road pavement that serves as a trigger when a receiver coil passes over a path used for charging.
