The review starts by focusing on facilities available for women in international settings, followed by Europe and Spain and finally narrowing down to the autonomous community of Andalusia. The most important legislative change regarding gender- based violence occurred in Spain with the passing of the Integral Law (Law 1/2004 of 28 December). Using household data of 100 Konda Reddi families in Andhra Pradesh, it examines the land use pattern of different land types in this ‘agency belt’. Using the Land Diversity Index, the study provides insights into land use preferences across farmer categories and highlights vulnerabilities of marginal and small farmers to climate change. It expresses concern over maladaptive practices being perceived as ‘coping mechanisms’ in response to local climatic changes. It creates a case for policy makers to revisit the existing development policies from a climate lens.","PeriodicalId":35584,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Social Work","volume":"79 1","pages":"229-252"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-05-14","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43656069","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study examines the linkage between social bonding and familial dynamics of the elderly. The study uses the mixed methods approach and has been designed as an exploratory lead-in to a planned wider study. The findings of the study show that family members prefer to lead their own lives without any concern for the emotional, physical and personal needs of their old parents. The study has also found that the gradual nuclearisation of joint families, changes in value system and erosion of morality have weakened social bonding with the elderly.","PeriodicalId":35584,"journal":{"name":"Indian Journal of Social Work","volume":"79 1","pages":"83-98"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2018-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47178697","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
