In our approach, the modeling process starts with a full-order classical all poles model obtained by some known methods. The original model is then reduced using a new proposed approach based on the genetic algorithms and the full order speech production system dominant frequencies. The model reduction yields to a zeros-poles reduced order model which interestingly preserves the key properties of the original full-order model in the time and frequency domains. To illustrate the performance and the effectiveness of the proposed approach, some computer simulations are conducted on some practical speech segments. To show the novelty of our approach, a comparative study with an approximant given by an appropriate conventional techniques is presented.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123994296","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) aircraft can take-off and landing vertically such as helicopters and is convertible to the fixed-wing configuration for horizontal flight using a tilting mechanism for its rotors/wings. A nonlinear dynamical model, relating to the vertical flight mode of this QTW, is firstly developed using the Newton-Euler formalism, in describing the aerodynamic forces and moments acting on the aircraft. This established model, linearized around an equilibrium operating point, is then used to design a MPC approach for the stabilization and tracking of the QTW attitude and altitude. In order to show the performance superiority of the proposed MPC technique, a comparison with the known Linear Quadratic (LQ) strategy is carried out. All simulation results, obtained for both MPC and LQ approaches, are presented and discussed.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115631810","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Muscle activities can be artificially driven through delivery of electrical pulses to skeletal muscles. Typically, muscles are activated by using constant stimulation train with a fixed parameters (amplitude, frequency and pulse width). In addition, the FES systems do not adapt the parameters stimulation to obtain a desired force response during the rehabilitation session. The purpose of this study is to investigate a real-time FES system for adapting automatically the stimulation parameters (stimulation pulse width) to track a desired force. The Model Free Control (MFC) strategy is adopted to compute the pulse width in the stimulation pattern. This strategy is tested with many muscular force references to show their promising control performances.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126613560","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A non linear current source was implemented in ATP to model a PV module under varying solar irradiance and temperature conditions. In this study, the mathematical equations were implemented and MathCad software was used to confirm the obtained results. The implemented PV module using ATP shows that increasing the temperature has negative influence on output power. On the same trend, increasing the irradiance at the constant temperature increases the power. The obtained implemented PV module model is useful for further study of stand-alone and grid-connected PV generation systems.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"78 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131361119","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Therefore, the condition monitoring of bearings becomes difficult since the purpose is to extract health indicators able to detect the appearance of faults, track their evolution and predict the bearings' remaining useful life. The aim of this paper is the introduction of a new approach for the health monitoring of bearings. This approach is based on health indicators extracted from raw vibration signals filtered by the Hilbert-Huang transform. The proposed approach is composed of three steps. The first step uses the empirical mode decomposition to separate each vibration signal into different intrinsic mode functions (IMFs), where each IMF is located within a specific frequency band. The second step extracts instantaneous amplitudes and frequencies for each mode in order to identify its frequency band. Finally, the third step selects the interesting IMFs according to the characteristic frequencies of the bearing failures. The Hilbert marginal spectrum of the selected intrinsic mode functions are then considered as health indicators. The proposed approach is validated by real data taken from the PRONOSTIA experimental platform.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"134 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114339990","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This structure therefore provides the capability to produce higher voltages at higher speeds with low switching frequency which has inherent low switching losses and high converter efficiency. Selective harmonic elimination(SHE) for asymmetrical multilevel CHB inverter control is proposed. The technique utilized in the estimation of switching angles involves Firefly Algorithm (FFA). Compared to Newton Raphson algorithm (NR), FFA is more robust and entails less computation time. Simulation results prove the effectiveness of FFA technique compared to NR algorithm. The proposed method does effectively eliminate a number of specific low order harmonics, and the output voltage is resulted in low total harmonic distortion. FFA and NR algorithm for asymmetrical cascaded H-bridge nine level inverter control are experimentally tested on a prototype using FPGA.","PeriodicalId":355001,"journal":{"name":"2016 4th International Conference on Control Engineering & Information Technology (CEIT)","volume":"64 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2016-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131506138","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
