Hip joint replacement is one of the most popular operations in orthopedics. During the surgical procedure, the hip joint is replaced with a prosthesis, therefore, after this operation, in order to avoid complications, the role of nurses is very important, which must be reflected in professionalism and responsibility. It should be noted that nurses must not only perform general care, but also involve the patient in the nursing process, i.e. discuss the care plan, carry out training so that the patient feels safe and self-confident. The aim of the research based on a review of the scientific literature, to analyze the role of nurses in order to prevent hip arthroplasty complications in the postoperative period. Research methods. The systematic scientific literature review was prepared using the PRISMA (Perferred Reporting Item for Systematic Review and MetaAnalyses) method. Scientific articles were searched in the three main electronic databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Ceeol in Lithuanian and English, in the period 2011– 2021. The article reveals the attitudes of general nursing students of Alytaus kolegija / University of Applied Sciences towards euthanasia. The last two decades of this century have seen an increasing number of countries where euthanasia has become legal, which has led to a growing number of disagreements between the health care community, politicians, society, and religion, and to ethical dilemmas around the world on this issue. Euthanasia has become a topical phenomenon that has so far generated countless debates and controversies in politics, law, medicine and society at large. This article presents the views of general nursing students on euthanasia, its legalisation and the reasons that have influenced their opinions. The study used a quantitative questionnaire survey method. The sample of the study was a purposive sample of general nursing students of the 1st and 4th year of the Department of Health Sciences and Technologies of Alytaus kolegija / University of Applied Sciences. Summarising the results obtained, it emerged that almost half of both 1st and 4th year students express a neutral attitude towards euthanasia, and more than half of both 1st and 4th year students support legalisation of euthanasia in Lithuania.
Slauga. Organ transplantation is the most effective and acceptable treatment for end-stage organ failure [1], but there are more people waiting for organs than donors. Each person has the freedom to decide whether or not to be an organ donor based on his or her values, beliefs and knowledge, and his or her decision can often be influenced by the knowledge and understanding of organ donation and transplantation. This article analyses the knowledge and attitudes towards organ donation among non-health science students. The research method used was a survey and a purposive sample was formed. The study involved 103 non-health science students from higher education institutions. The survey revealed that the majority of students are aware of the shortage of organ donors in Lithuania, and are able to identify the types of people who can become organ donors and the types of organs that can be transplanted. Students are the least aware of the methods of expressing the wish to become a potential organ donor and the individuals who can make the final decision. There are no significant, statistically significant differences in knowledge about organ donation by gender, field of study, or possession of a donor card. It appeared that the majority of the subjects do not have a donor card but do not object to organ donation after their death.
Slauga. Endometriosis is a chronic, estrogen-dependent, incurable gynecological disease, the causes of which are still unclear. One of the most important factors in proper disease control is patient involvement in self-care. Well-directed self-care can help reduce the symptoms and damage caused by endometriosis. Aim. To evaluate the self-care of patients with endometriosis. A quantitative research was conducted, using a survey. The research was conducted on the Internet, on the social platform Facebook, in the endometriosis group. During the study, 70 adult women of childbearing age (18–49 years) with endometriosis were surveyed. 64 questionnaires were selected for data analysis. For descriptive statistics, percentage distribution of data is used. The rank and interval scales are used for analytical statistics. The Chi-square (χ²) criterion and a statistical significance of p<0.05 were used for the correlation between two attributes. Results and conclusions. A higher proportion of respondents do not use any self-care at all, and a statistically significant effect was found between duration of illness and use of self-care. The longer the duration of illness, the less self-care is used. It also found that the most effective self-care interventions are heat applications, nutrition and phytotherapy, while the least effective are yoga and psychotherapy. The study showed that self-care is insufficient in the management of endometriosis and its symptoms.
Slauga. The nursing profession is particularly affected, and the vulnerability of nurses to workplace violence is particularly evident in mental health nursing. Aggression at work is a big problem for both nurses and patients and their relatives. Communication with patients deteriorates, attention and concentration to solve the patient's health problems decreases, the quality of life of the family and the nurse deteriorates, and the opportunity to improve. \u0000The purpose of the study is to evaluate the aggression of patients and relatives against mental health nurses in the workplace. \u0000Methodology of investigation. A quantitative study using an anonymous survey in online. Study participants 118 mental health nurses. \u0000Research results and conclusions. The most common types of aggression at work are verbal and physical, and the least common is sexual harassment. The main risk factors for aggression depended on patients and relatives, on the status and personal characteristics of the caregiver, and on the work environment. When nurses encountered an aggressor, they usually tried to calm him down by communicating, removing stimuli from the environment that promote aggression.
In order to effectively prevent any disease, it is necessary to apply preventive measures in the most vulnerable group of this disease. In the case of rotavirus, it is children. Since parents (guardians) take care of children, their awareness is very important, because only they can ensure the timely vaccination of their children and train them in personal hygiene rules. Rotavirus infection is an urgent public health problem due to the high morbidity in children. In 2022, 93 percent (1462 cases) RVI (rotavirus infection) was recorded among children (0-17 years). In 2018, vaccines against this infection were included in the preventive vaccination calendar for children in Lithuania. Therefore, when applying this RVI prevention measure, it is so important to analyze not only parents' awareness of this disease, but also to evaluate their attitude towards vaccines. Nurses have a significant impact on the prevention of rotavirus infection, as they spend the most time with patients and relatives, to whom they must provide reliable information about the management of the disease and explain the importance of preventive measures. The aim of this study is to analyze parents' awareness of rotavirus infection. Appropriate research methods were chosen during the research: analysis of scientific literature and quantitative research using an anonymous questionnaire (online survey). The research was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. The results revealed that parents lack information about RVI. Only half knew that the main way of spreading the disease is fecal-oral. According to the research data, the majority of parents received information from a reliable source - doctors, and a quarter from nurses. However, the second most frequently cited source is the Internet, which may have provided respondents with false information about the disease and its prevention. Also, according to the research, parents lack knowledge about the formation of children's hygiene skills: the majority of respondents say that education on this issue is necessary. According to scientific literature, the most effective preventive measure against infection is vaccinations, but slightly less than half of the respondents agree that vaccinations are necessary, and a quarter disagree. In addition, when comparing parents' opinions on this issue by education, a significant difference was observed.
Slauga.
