The population's income, primary census information, is a variable used in studies in different areas such as public policies, forecasting, and planning a new business. However, on average, this information is released every ten years in Brazil; thus, it is necessary to explore frequency variables to estimate the population's income. In this sense, this study proposes a predictive income model based on technological and communication aspects.Method: We choose two variables: internet and cable TV access. Our study included the analysis of the 5570 Brazilian municipalities through linear (OLS) and spatial models (Spatial Auto-Regressive [SAR] and Geographically Weighted Regression [GWR]).Results: The results with the spatial models showed better results. Additionally, a revision cycle of these deviations is proposed.Main results: Deviations arising from the outdatedness or inadequacy of what is foreseen in the ostensive aspect were identified. Moreover, agents tend to base performativity on something other than what is foreseen in documents and instructions since their habits, competencies, and skills force them to inertia in how they act.Social/management contributions: The proposition of an organizational routine review cycle for public administration that curbs unwanted variations in routine execution. Data were collected through interviews with a structured script and analyzed using the content analysis technique. Originality: Offers explanations of how organizational settings influence the development of ACAP. Main results: the simple structure configuration favors the recognition capacity and limits the assimilation and application capacity. The bureaucratic machine favors the capacity for recognition and assimilation, and limits application. Professional bureaucracy limits the capacity for recognition and application and favors assimilation. In the divided form, the capacity for recognition and assimilation is favored, and the capacity for application is limited. In adhocracy the ability of recognition, assimilation and application are favored. Methodology: The authors carried out an exploratory research, with a qualitative and quantitative approach, characterized as a study of multiple cases. A structured script was used as a data collection instrument, elaborated from analysis categories that emerged from the literature review.Originality: This is an unprecedented study of the application of the ECD theoretical model to the jewelry industry in Guaporé-RS. Main results: As a main result, the authors highlight that, in the perception of the study participants, the structure of the jewelry industry in Guaporé has an influence on the conduct of its members and this, in turn, has influenced the performance of companies and the industry as a whole. It was possible to understand how the processes of choice and implementation of the adopted strategy are carried out, in addition to identifying the influences on the definition of how to compete and the results obtained from these choices. Theoretical / methodological contributions: As the ECD model has not been applied in this sector, his theoretical proposal broadens the understanding of the complexity of the behavior of industry actors, the understanding of the strategies that companies use and, especially, the performance they achieve from their performance in scenarios of extreme competition. Lourenzani","doi":"10.5585/riae.v21i1.19696","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5585/riae.v21i1.19696","url":null,"abstract":"Purpose: To analyze how the group action, involving the family farmers in cooperatives, contributes to using intern resources of rural companies, sob Resource-Based View (RBV) theory.Methodology: Was held a systematic analysis of articles with case studies of family farmers in Brazilian cooperatives between 2010 and 2020 using descriptive statistics.Originality: The analysis of cooperatives' contribution to using and exchanging resources among farmers insert them and remain competitive in the market.Main results: The collective way, through cooperatives, contributed in some cases with the use and exchange of resources, allowing the family farmers to insert and remain in the competitive market. The results demonstrated reputation resources based on traditions and environmental sustainability production allow competitive advantage. Organizational resources, especially about the farmers' capabilities, created an inter-relationship among productive units and markets, enabling strategies to explore the intern resources and become competitive. Methodological- theoretical contributions: The discussions concern family agriculture, cooperatives, and intern resources sob RBV perspective to contribute scientifically to demonstrating interdisciplinary of the present research, in front of the lack of studies that gather those themes.Management contributions: The managers of cooperatives and public police managers will recognize the resources that contribute to the competitiveness of family farmers and their difficulties, such as investment in physical and technological infrastructures, as well as financial support. Vils","doi":"10.5585/riae.v21i1.21165","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.5585/riae.v21i1.21165","url":null,"abstract":"Objective of the study: This article seeks to explore from bibliometrics with factor analysis, the conceptual bases of the thematic networks of technological cooperation and patents in biotechnology.Methodology: We performed an exploratory factor analysis (EFA) for quantitative analyses, using the BibExcel software and the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test (KMO) (SPSS software). The matrix of citations and quotations resulted in 86 articles, distributed in three factors, according to similarity analysis (Iramuteq software).Originality/relevance: The term “technological cooperation networks” is increasingly becoming widespread in academia and in the biotechnology sector. However, its concept comes from different theoretical fields, and in the literature, there is still a lack of convergence.Main results: The matrix of citations and quotations resulted in 86 articles, distributed in three factors, according to similarity analysis (Iramuteq software). Therefore, this study aimed to analyze what are the prevailing competitive dispositions in digital platforms.Methodology/Approach: this is an exploratory study, correlating the topics of digital platforms and competitive advantage through a literature review on the Web of Science database, presenting a sociometric analysis of the data and a synthesis of the main competitive dispositions in digital platforms.Originality/Relevance: despite the acknowledged inadequacy of traditional strategies to explain competitiveness in the context of digital platforms, the studies dedicated to discussing this issue are still limited, and the present study has contributed by extending the discussion and providing perspectives to this novel scenario. Main results: The results define certain differences between the competitive dispositions regarding traditional enterprises and platform-based business models. Among the new elements identified, the distinct focus of the value creation process, the centrality of a networked structure as well as the use of data, and interaction of a more heterogeneous set of participants are highlighted.Theoretical/methodological contributions: the present study contributes to the current debate by indicating a first effort to align and consolidate the competitive dimensions that present themselves in digital platforms, in comparison to what is known concerning traditional pipeline approaches. As secondary sources, information was obtained from the company’s social media and news websites, as well as a review of relevant literature.Originality / relevance: The main reflection revolves around the dilemma: withdraw or expand investments in marketing during moments of crisis? This dilemma, tackled by Mate in Box, is likely similar to the reality of many other businesses.Main results: When dealing with their marketing strategies, companies must consider adapting them to their objective and current reality. Mate in Box increased its marketing investments, which resulted in increased profitability and brand consolidation. This also demonstrates how a good marketing plan must adapt to the business’s crisis management proposal.Theoretical / methodological contributions: The teaching notes pose questions for classroom use (based on the literature and on the company’s actual facts), promoting decision-making exercises regarding marketing strategy in the face of crises.Social / management contributions: This case-study contributes to the perception that, in moments of crisis, marketing needs to be considered as a tool for the sustainability of the business and in the search for profits and viability, and not as a cost vector. The technical procedure was a multiple case study, carried out with three organizations in the metal mechanic segment in southern Brazil. For data collection, interviews were conducted with eighteen managers. The data were organized and analyzed through content analysis. The established categories were guided by the identification of the component elements and organizational mechanisms for the development of dynamic capacities (DC), proposed by Meirelles and Camargo (2014).Originality / Relevance: The research presents new and illuminating insights for understanding how DCs are developed. By identifying which routines and processes provide for the development of DCs, the research contributes to the understanding of how the process of DC development takes place in organizations.Fidings: The results show that the DC of the investigated companies are made up of search and innovation processes and routines that enable the management and mobilization of organizational resources, in order to meet the needs and changes of the market.Theoretical / methodological contributions: The model based on the proposal by Meirelles and Camargo (2014), is capable of contributing to the prioritization of actions necessary for the development of absorptive, adaptive and innovative capacities. Originality: This study seeks to fill a gap in the literature by combining innovation and efficiency theories to assess how agents organize themselves enable them to create and remunerate the value generated.Main results: This study shows that producers and cooperatives organize themselves in a hybrid form involving verbal agreements which enable innovations due to information exchanges between producers. However, possible failures in value distribution stem from the non-remuneration of quality attributes, which may discourage innovations and the performance of the chain.Managerial contributions: Despite failures, cooperatives promote innovation and are a viable alternative for producers to compete in the market. Incentives can mitigate the risks associated with the observed failures. This study provides insights for private and public actions to encourage the formation of these arrangements and to improve the coordination of innovation subsystems.Theoretical contributions: Since efficiency theories underestimate innovation, our analysis employed efficiency and innovation theories, contributing to the better understanding of subsystems which depend on innovation to produce specialty products.
