Jat, Jaipal Jaipal","doi":"10.48165/chr.2023.11.2.14","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.48165/chr.2023.11.2.14","url":null,"abstract":"The study was carried out on fresh, one, two and three year aged seeds of guava (Psidium guajava L. ) L-49 (Sardar) in the laboratoryof Department of Seed Science and Technology, CCS HAU, Hisar, during 2018-2019. The seeds were subjected to different seed scarification treatments, viz. hot water treatment at 80°C for 1 minute, concentrated sulphuric acid for quick dip and water soaking for 48 hr. The seeds were assessed for peroxidase activity, dehydrogenase activity and electrical conductivity. Hot water treatment at 80°C for 1 minute resulted into maximum peroxidase activity (710.0) and dehydrogenase activity (0.233) but minimum electrical conductivity (11.02). Pusa Uttam during kharif season 2018 at S.K.N. Agriculture University, Jobner (Jaipur). The application of vermicompost (6.6 t/ha) significantly increased number of branches (3.19, 9.17, 13.36 and 15.35 at 30, 60, 90 and 120 DAT), number of leaves (13.79, 77.32, 187.78 and 219.58 at 30, 60, 90 and 120 DAT), fruit length (8.17 cm), fruit diameter (7.31 cm), number of fruits/plant (6.59), fruit weight (129.67 g), fruit yield per plot (17.13 kg /plot) and fruit yield (317.20 q /ha) but days required to 50 per cent flowering was non-significants. There was maximum average plant biomass (1072 g/plant) in guava and minimum (423g) in pomegranate. Maximum shoot biomass (1012.11g) was recorded in plant grown in 45 cm x 45 cm and minimum (402.78g/plant) in 30x30 cm container. Destructive method was used to extract the root mass for analysis significant variation in root biomass was also recorded, maximum root biomass (506.11g) in guava and minimum (239.86 g) in pomegranate, however root biomass was recorded significantly maximum (509.78 g) in 45 cm x 45 cm. Root to shoot ratio was recorded maximum (0.63) in Citrus crops. The root:shoot ratio had significant correlation with stem girth and negatively correlated with fruit weight, fruit yield and root hairs diameter. Collar diameter has significantly positive correlation with plant height, fruit weight and yield.
