Non-invasive and minimally invasive treatments have gained popularity as alternatives to surgical interventions. Laser lipolysis, such as EndoliftX®, has emerged as a promising approach for submental fat reduction, and hybrid fillers, like HArmonyCa, have shown potential for enhancing tissue laxity. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and long-term outcomes of a novel combined treatment protocol utilizing laser lipolysis and hybrid filler injection for submental fat reduction and tissue tightening. Methods and Materials: A single-center, prospective, quasi-experimental controlled study was conducted, enrolling seven patients aged between 49 and 67 years. The protocol EndoliftX®, involved a 1470nm diode laser (LASEmaR 1500® Eufoton® Trieste,Italy) treatment (Endolift) followed by hybrid filler (HArmonyCa) injection. Various assessments, including clinical examination, Glogau Scale scoring, and 3D imaging, were performed at baseline and follow-up visits. Results: The results demonstrated significant reductions in submental fat, improved cutaneous elasticity, and reduced wrinkle severity according to the Glogau Scale. Notably, these improvements were visible almost immediately post-procedure and continued to enhance over time, remaining prominent even after 12 months of observation. The treatment was associated with minimal discomfort and downtime. Conclusion: The study highlights the effectiveness and longevity of the combined treatment protocol, making it a valuable option for individuals seeking non-surgical solutions for submental fat reduction and tissue tightening. While further research with control groups is warranted, laser lipolysis with EndoliftX®, and hybrid filler injection with HArmonyCa offer a minimally invasive and well-tolerated approach to address submental concerns and achieve favorable aesthetic outcomes, particularly in patients looking to avoid more invasive techniques.","PeriodicalId":351393,"journal":{"name":"Dermatology Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy","volume":"62 6 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-11-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"139238500","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It quite clearly reflects the basic features of modern life: instability (Volatility) — due to the need to take into account many factors that change in the process of making certain decisions; uncertainty — the real impossibility of predicting the future and its main prospects; Complexity — lack of real understanding of the essence of many events; ambiguity — ambiguity and clear uncertainty in the interpretation of a considerable number of life situations. All this together could not help but affect the self-assessment of young doctors about their quality of life (QoL) during the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of the study: is to trace the dynamics of changes in the self-assessment of certain indicators of quality of life among young medical workers and students of the O.O.Bogomolets National medical university against the background of the negative impact of the infodemic and attempts to at least somehow \"relieve\" this chronic stressful situation by improving one's appearance with the help of cosmetics during the COVID-19 pandemic during 2020— 2021 Results and Discussion: Interpersonal contacts with students of the 4th year of the medical and dental faculties were due to the circumstances of their distance learning during the pandemic at the department of dermatology and venereology with a course of cosmetology of the O.O.Bogomolets National édictai university and were based on the results of their distance self-testing for the period from spring 2020 to December 2021. Such testing took place mainly on the initiative of the medical workers themselves, after they learned about the possibility of objectively assessing their psychological state and quality of life. An objective analysis of the dynamics of self-assessments of their own quality of life over the past two years in complex, rather unpredictable due to instability, ambiguity and certain uncertainty in the conditions of the pandemic indicates their rather successful psychosomatic adaptation to training and clinical work. Their averaged self-assessments of quality of life should be considered as a kind of positive standard when compared with the data of similar tests conducted among other segments of the population in the same period of time. Conclusions: An objective analysis of the dynamics of self-assessments by young doctors of their own quality of life over the past two years indicates their rather successful psychosomatic adaptation in the conditions of the infodemic and pandemic of 2020-2021. Their point values on the SF-36 scales should be considered as a kind of positive quantitative standard that reflects their generally optimistic psychosomatic adaptation during this difficult period of development of human civilization.","PeriodicalId":351393,"journal":{"name":"Dermatology Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy","volume":"42 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-09-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114793591","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Despite various clinical and paraclinical evaluations, no definite cause for the patient's low LOC could be determined, and various therapies and medications failed to improve her condition. Given the septic phase, two rounds of continuous renal replacement therapy were conducted, in conjunction with music therapy and reminiscence featuring the voices of her loved ones. After 48 hours from the last round of CRRT, and following 50 days of hospitalization in the intensive care unit, her LOC improved to 8+T/15. This frequency and the percentage allow us to understand how the respondents feel about the queries posed and answers provided. The regression analysis was utilized to determine the variables' sign and size as well as their significance. The regression analysis shows that price of healthcare service, the cost of drug, educational qualification and the distance to health centres are statistically significant in determining the demand for health care services among the people in Akinyele local government area while income, age and gender are statistically insignificant. As price of healthcare services, cost of drugs and distance to health centres are significant at 5% level of significance, education qualification is significant at 10% level of significance.","PeriodicalId":351393,"journal":{"name":"Dermatology Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2023-06-08","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134362719","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Multiple studies have found that lncRNAs, or long non-coding RNAs, are strongly correlated with the outcome for STAD patients. However, the nature of the connection between cuproptosis and lncRNAs in STAD is still not completely understood. Our study set out to create a predictive hallmark of STAD based on lncRNAs associated with cuproptosis, with the hope that this would allow for more accurate prediction of STAD outcomes. Methods: We retrieved the transcriptional profile of STAD as well as clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The cuproptosis-related genes (CRGs) were gathered through the highest level of original research and complemented with information from the available literature. We constructed a risk model using co-expression network analysis, Cox regression analysis, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) analysis to identify lncRNAs associated with cuproptosis, and then validated its performance in a validation set. Survival study, progression-free survival analysis (PFS), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis, Cox regression analysis, nomograms, clinicopathological characteristic correlation analysis, and principal components analysis were used to evaluate the signature's prognostic utility. Additionally, ssGSEA algorithms, KEGG, and GO were employed to assess biological functions. The tumor mutational burden (TMB) and tumor immune dysfunction and rejection (TIDE) scores were utilized in order to evaluate the effectiveness of the immunotherapy. Results: In order to construct predictive models, nine distinct lncRNAs (AC087521.1, AP003498.2, AC069234.5, LINC01094, AC019080.1, BX890604.1, AC005041.3, DPP4-DT, AL356489.2, AL139147.1) were identified. The Kaplan-Meier and ROC curves, which were applied to both the training and testing sets of the TCGA, provided evidence that the signature contained a sufficient amount of predictive potential. The signature was shown to contain risk indicators that were independent of the other clinical variables, as demonstrated by the findings of a Cox regression and a stratified survival analysis. The ssGSEA study provided additional evidence that predictive variables were highly connected with the immunological condition of STAD patients. Surprisingly, the combination of high risk and high TMB reduced survival time for patients. A worse prognosis for the immune checkpoint blockade response was also suggested by the fact that patients in the high-risk group had higher TIDE scores. Conclusion: The potential clinical uses of the identified risk profiles for the 10 cuproptosis-related lncRNAs include the assessment of the prognosis and molecular profile of STAD patients and the creation of more targeted therapy strategies.","PeriodicalId":351393,"journal":{"name":"Dermatology Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-12-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129322485","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Patients often present with a sudden onset burning sensation and cutaneous pain. The insects are belonging to the genus Paederus. These insects are found worldwide, although the concentration is higher in tropical and subtropical areas. In Ethiopia, more particularly in Wolaita, Nairobi fly dermatitis is uncommon previously. Hence, we aimed to describe the clinical characteristics and identify risk factors prone to the disease. Methods: We conducted unmatched case-control study (ratio 1:2) with 45 cases and 90 controls from April 5 to 14, 2018 in Ade charake Village, Southern Ethiopia. Cases were patients who had a history of linear dermatitis, kissing/mirror image/ lesions, multiple vesiculo-pustular lesion, extensive pustules, blistering and papulo-pustular lesions over face, neck, arms, shoulders, axillaries region, lower limbs, chest, upper limbs or any other area of the body in Ade Charake Village in the study period. Controls were asymptomatic individuals selected randomly from the households or neighbors during the outbreak period. The investigators initially developed a clinical-epidemiological questionnaire to obtain data from cases as well as controls. Basic descriptive summary including attack rate, in addition to bivariate and multivariable logistic regression was computed. The odds ratio was computed at 95% CI with a P-value <=0.05 to ascertain the association. Results: Among 45 cases, 60 %( 27/45) were females. The commonly affected age groups were between 8-15 years 31% (14/45). The frequently appearing clinical manifestation was Erythmato-vesicular lesions 40% (18/45) and most patients 71% (32/45) presented with a complain of burning sensation followed by pruritus 62% (28/45).We found that use of light during sleep (AOR=8.5,95% CI, 1.033-64.8), disposing wastes near vicinity(AOR=5.44, 95% CI 2.094,14.1250) and proximity of dense vegetations or fruit in the vicinity (AOR=7,95% CI, 1.143-43.78) were risk factors to develop Nairobi fly dermatitis.
