Archaeological surveys in Liubech began in the late 19th century and have continued until today with certain interruptions. Despite the close attention paid by scholars to the archaeological monuments of Liubech, it should be noted that the area of the city within its administrative boundaries (both the floodplain part of the Dnieper River and the densely developed part of the town) has not been sufficiently studied.","PeriodicalId":350716,"journal":{"name":"Slavia Antiqua. The settlement is a part of a large complex with a stronghold and a developed lake shore, identified with the historical Steklin mentioned in the so-called Mogilno Falsification. The hoard, consisting of 28 coins and six pieces of jewelry, was deposited after 1080. The factual scope of the article includes primarily the results of numismatic analyses of one Arabic coin and the remaining Western European coins, including the prevailing group of so-called cross denarii. Tracing the history of research and bringing closer the opinions of individual researchers shows how the interpretations of these monuments in archaeological literature have changed over the years. The text discusses and characterizes the findings of arrowheads from the territory ruled by the Piast Dynasty together with an attempt to divide them into types according to the typology of A. F. Medvedev for finds from the territory of ancient Rus. These issues are only an introduction to further research in this field.","PeriodicalId":350716,"journal":{"name":"Slavia Antiqua. It consists of bricks (plinthois), ceramic tiles and stone floor slabs, roof tiles, glass hutters, frescoes, mosaics, samples of stones and solutions, marble decorative elements, etc. Among the most massive and informative materials is a plinthoi. The study of its characteristics and historical and cultural significance is aimed at acquiring a body of knowledge about building materials. M. Kholostenko, G. Ivakin, O. Syromyatnikov, and D. Jolshin were engaged in the study of bricks from the Pechersk monastery. However, no generalizing work on construction materials of the 11th-15th centuries of these monuments of ancient Kyiv has been carried out till now.","PeriodicalId":350716,"journal":{"name":"Slavia Antiqua. They come from the so-called second church, a single-nave small building erected in the 1060s and destroyed in 1038 or 1039. In its ruins, a collection of high-grade artefacts was discovered, furnishings of the same temple, as well as fragments of glass and fragmentary preserved glass vessels. The three specimens, examined in the laboratory, were made of potassium glass, of the calcium-potassium variety, of the CaO-K2O-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 type. Interpretation of the analytical results has led to a conclusion that all the vessels could come from a single workshop, attributed to Carolingian and Ottonian workshops in Imperial Germany. Another vessel, discovered in the eastern part of the stronghold and not associated with any of the sacred buildings, has an early date (6th to 9th century). It is believed to be a conical goblet of the Kempston type, made of sodium glass, of the mineral variety, of the Na2O-CaO-Al2O3-SiO2 type, from one of the many Western European workshops.","PeriodicalId":350716,"journal":{"name":"Slavia Antiqua. Among them were numerous items of jewellery. It seems that their use was related to an extended social hierarchy and distant inter-regional trade contacts. The raw material used by the jewellers was most probably obtained from melted Roman coins. Amber exports were at the economic basis of obtaining the coins. The most frequent forms of trinkets:snake- and adder-inspired bracelets, reverse pear pendants, S-shaped buckles and others, are of entirely foreign origin. Their prototypes can be traced back to the pre-Roman areas along the Danube occupied by the Thracians and the Dacians or the La Tène culture population.","PeriodicalId":350716,"journal":{"name":"Slavia Antiqua.
