The first\u0000part of the article describes the causes of the formation of impurities in operating fluids and the tribological\u0000effects of their impact. The second part is dedicated to testing for filtration efficiency and effectiveness for\u0000different filter materials. The third part of the article briefly describes the technology for manufacturing filter\u0000media using efficient but difficult-to-form materials. The testing results showed significant differences in\u0000filtering efficiency and effectiveness between the cellulose samples and the samples of filter materials based\u0000on glass microfibre layers. All of the tested multi-layer materials allow filtration effectiveness of over 90% to\u0000be achieved over the entire range of impurity sizes included in the experiment. The results of a comparative\u0000test for pressure change during filtration also indicate that glass microfibre materials have a considerably\u0000longer operating life than cellulose materials. The time after which a sharp increase in pressure occurs (due\u0000to the filter layer being filled with impurities) is nearly four times longer for multi-layer materials than for\u0000cellulose materials. The methods for cutting, forming, and joining filter materials have been developed by the\u0000author of this article and implemented at the EXMOT company.\u0000\u0000

Two selected oils,\u0000i.e. the mineral base oil without additives and the typical marine lubricating circulating oil Marinol RG 1240,\u0000were modified with the addition of shungite nanoparticles, graphite nanotubes, and C60 fullerenes. Contributions of energy and displacement of particular friction forces corresponding\u0000to each element of a friction couple are addressed. Energy expenditure that causes wear is introduced into\u0000the definition of wear resistance. Planning and thermodynamic analysis of a tribological experiment and the\u0000application of thermodynamic concepts and quantities to the description and the interpretation of results\u0000are recommended. In many applications, the magnetic fluid operates at high flow velocities through\u0000narrow slots. Therefore, there is a need to determine the rheological properties of this type of substance at\u0000high shear rates. Due to the high density of magnetic fluids and the associated occurrence of mass forces, as\u0000well as the requirements regarding the distribution of the magnetic field, the measurement of the viscosity of\u0000magnetic fluids at high shear rates is extremely difficult when conventional measuring systems are used. In a metal-polymer friction pair, the static\u0000friction resistance during standstill under load depends on the rate of growth of the force causing the relative\u0000motion. Tribological tests of selected (polymer-metal) sliding pairs were carried out. The selected polymers\u0000were polyurethane (TPU), polysulfone (PSU), and silicone rubber (SI). They interacted with a pin made of\u0000normalized C45 steel under unitary pressure p = 0.5 MPa in dry friction conditions at different gradients\u0000of the force driving the relative motion (dF/dt = 0.1-20 [N/s]). It consists of dividing flat\u0000materials into shoe components. Cutting can be done by hand or mechanically. Cutters are the main cutting\u0000device in mechanical process. During utilization of cutters, the durability of its usage is an important issue.\u0000To increase its endurance, optimal force conditions are required. These depend on the following: the friction\u0000coefficient between cutting machine and cut material, the angle of sharpening of cutter, the blunting of the\u0000edge, using a cutting pad, and the type and kind of steel of which is produced. Friction is a component of\u0000a cutting force and its value depends on several factors, one of which is shape of the cutter.
