It describes the attributes of locations in the environments which allow swarms of robotic devices to cooperatively converge on desired emergent behaviour. In addition, the work describes how robotic devices perceive the meanings of the information held on the proposed locations of the virtual environments. Results indicate that extra care should be taken when designing simulated environments in order to guarantee usefulness of those environments to robotic devices in swarms. The environments should possess features which would further inform the robotic devices of the geometry and map of the simulated environments. In addition, good designs are the hopes to the fourth industrial revolution. Without proper design of the testbeds, the envisioned usefulness of robotics to the fourth industrial revolution would fail.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"50 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114772363","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

When successful, these frameworks could connect citizens to seamless online government services, affordable services and access regardless of geographic area. Ideally, broadband should provide equitable, affordable services and efficient network connectivity irrespective of geo-Locations, whereas policies and regulations provide fairness in the sector. Contrary, many people experience an overwhelming challenge to access broadband services. In Botswana, most people experience lack of online government service, lack of efficient network connectivity and high tariffs rates. Nevertheless, the country has an adequate amount and necessary telecommunication infrastructure to provide affordable universal broadband services and access for citizens. This study used quantitative-method, and inferential analysis to the general population. The data collected was processed through the following several software tools; Microsoft Excel, SPSS and R studio software. The results and findings presented by this study are to advance the deployment of broadband services. Amongst many shorting comings covered by this study; more than half of respondents feel access to the internet is not free; most people experience low internet speed. Another substantive number of respondents think the current regulatory laws do not adquently protect service end-users. Whereas BOFiNET fails to enforce price reduction initiatives. Although the government carried out consultations to inform communities about the expansion of telecommunication services, many people do not relate services with infrastructure development, and many people do not use available online government services. Generally, people in Botswana and elsewhere have diminished confidence levels on online services transactions, and in most instances feel not protected against online transgressions.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125092477","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This technology permits communication between humans and objects or objects with objects to collect and exchange data as well as provide essential services. However, despite the benefits and services it offers, it is faced with several challenges that are dominated by inefficient energy utilization due to nodes' continuous communication and other issues. This challenge affects all existing low power wide area network (LPWAN) technologies such as SigFox, LoRa, Narrow-band IoT (NB-IoT), and so on. Accordingly, several solutions have been offered to address the challenge but yet to achieve an optimum solution. Therefore, this paper conducted a review of existing approaches to minimize energy utilization and high latency during transmission in the NB-IoT and IoT in general. The essence is to comprehend the different techniques, challenges, and technologies used. The analysis revealed the existence of schemes/algorithms which are routing based, sleep/wake, and others. It also shows that NB-IoT is still faced with the challenge of an increase in latency and high energy consumption. Thus, there a need to address the challenge to boost the smooth operation of the technology.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"134238323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The WMSNs have to operate with significant energy, memory and processing power constraints. These constraints make video encoding vital but challenging to accomplish. Many approaches have been attempted but each one comes with its shortcomings. In this paper, a framework was developed to compare and contrast different methods for video encoding in WMSNs. This allows both researchers and practitioners to evaluate the different trade-offs that current techniques entail and what research gaps are not being addressed.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125103409","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

These physical objects have a limited processing space, storage, memory, and bandwidth. Routing becomes a significant factor throughout the data transmission process in IoT devices. The network layer Routing Protocol for Low power and Lossy Networks (RPL) provides communication and the performance of information exchange among the IoT devices. The RPL protocol was mainly designed to perform data transmission effectively in the network with low dynamic traffic. Then, in large network traffic, heavy dynamic traffic scenarios it encounters network congestion problems due to load imbalance distribution. Several RPL load balancing routing algorithms have existed intended to improve network reliability. The Expected Transmission Count and Parent count (ETXPC) objective function is one of the load balancing objective functions that have been evaluated in a burst traffic network scenario. However, this study evaluates the performance of ETXPC objective function in the RPL general IoT network with regards to different network densities. For this study, we applied the parent count (PC), expected transmission count (ETX), and Buffer Occupancy (BO) routing metrics to guide the data packets. The performance metrics considered for evaluation were energy consumption, the ratio of packets delivered, control overhead, and end-to-end delay. In large traffic network ETXPC provides unreliable links that decrease packet delivered successfully and increases control overhead. The algorithm balances the load distribution such a way that it reduces the network delay and energy consumption in the general IoT network.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114724922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper draws a useful connection between sorting and clustering, leading to a general approach for accelerating sorting algorithms. Basically, clustering is presented as an effective way to implement the well-known divide-and-conquer strategy. The key idea is that unless an algorithm takes (sub-)linear time, which is an impossible average complexity for sorting, if a k-means-type clustering is applied to the input data, the sum of the individual sorting times will be less than the time for the original input, and sorted versions of the partitions only need be concatenated. Quadratic time, which is common among well-known algorithms, can be accelerated up to $k$ times. Although any clustering algorithm can be used, to minimize overhead, we propose a simplified one-pass k-means-type algorithm comprising a single iteration of Lloyds standard k-means algorithm. We sample k items as partition prototypes; then each item in the data is grouped with its nearest prototype. As proof of concept, we present experiments involving 3 well-known quadratic-time algorithms, namely Insertion Sort, Bubble Sort and Selection Sort.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128128262","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Online communities are increasingly participating in the agenda-setting of public affairs and official policies. However, how to depict online public opinion and to what degree does it influence the real world are still unclear. This study addresses the above problems by analyzing Twitter discourse during the 2019 Chinese National Day with a machine learning-based approach. Over 300,000 English and Chinese tweets were collected between Sept 30 and Oct 3, and a hybrid method of support vector machine (SVM) and dictionary was applied to evaluate the sentiments of the collected tweets. This method avoids complex structures while yielding an average accuracy of over 96% in most classifiers used in the study. The results indicate alignment between the time of National Day celebration activities and the peak of sentiments revealed in both English and Chinese tweets, although the sentiments of the two languages tend to be in opposite directions. The sentiments of tweets also diverge from nation to nation, but are generally consistent with the country's official relations with China. The linguistic features of the tweets suggest different concerns for Twitter users who have different sentiments towards China. Future studies should prolong the collecting period and refine the algorithms used. Specific attention can also be paid to important countries pairs like China and the United States.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-11-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125768468","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For smart grids to perform to their peak, their energy management controller (EMC) systems need to be optimized. Current solutions for DSM and optimization of the Multiple Knapsack Problem (MKP) have been investigated in this paper to discover the current state of common DSM models. Solutions from other NP-Hard problems in the form of the iterative Discrete Flower Pollination Algorithm (iDFPA) as well as possible future scalability options in the form of optimization through parallelization have also been suggested.","PeriodicalId":349926,"journal":{"name":"2020 2nd International Multidisciplinary Information Technology and Engineering Conference (IMITEC)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-06-29","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124810517","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
