This reflects the learning mechanism of infant cry-cause factors, which upon solving will give a huge impact in the areas of medical and household. The behaviour of infant cry records is frequently used for non-invasive infant health inspection and monitoring. Automated approaches for forecasting health status, on the other hand, are highly dependent on the features extracted. In this paper, the diagnostic feasibility of the time domain features to detect and discriminate various cry-cause factors of cry signals is investigated. Mean, peak value, RMS, crest factor, Impulse factor, shape factor, energy, and clearance factor are the features employed in this work. It is discovered that, among the features investigated, RMS is more effective than all other features in detecting cry-cause factors with a Probability value (P) of 2.23307 × 10−6 and it offers an accuracy of 91.67%, sensitivity of 90%, and specificity of 93.33%.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"148 1","pages":"340 - 348"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"86651261","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To deal with the pitch control problem a Self-Tuning Controller (STC) with Proportional-Derivative (PD) structure has been proposed for the benchmark model (BM). This BM also models some sensors, actuators and system faults. The STC design herein is pivoted on a second-order auto-regressive exogenous (ARX) model. At first, three identification methods for the ARX model are presented: Recursive Least Square method (RLS), RLS with exponential forgetting (RLS-EF) and RLS with adaptive directional forgetting (RLS-ADF). In comparison, the performance of RLS-ADF is better than the rest two. The STC PD controller supersedes contemporary adaptive control approaches to fix up the generated power to its rating for above-rated wind. Secondly, on analysis, the proposed STC PD controller is fault-tolerant for nine types of faults. In the third stage, in extensive Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS), the sensitivity test to system parameter variation is carried out including the sensor faults. The result in the presence of a fault, as well as parameter variation, shows minimal deviation from normal conditions indicating the suitability of the STC PD controller to keep the system intact except in case of multiple faults.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"51 4 1","pages":"190 - 204"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-22","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"89646767","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Two-hop multiple half- and full-duplex two-way illegitimate relay network and a limited number of friendly jammers, affecting to the illegitimate relays, are considered in the system model. Extensive computer simulation results reveal that the secrecy sum-rate-based full-duplex illegitimate relay selection policy outperforms the half-duplex-based counterpart in terms of outage performance. Simulation results also show that the secrecy sum-rate-based relay selection policy provides a better secrecy performance than the max-min-based selection algorithm. The obtained performance results also show that secrecy max-min- and sum-rate-based selection strategies achieve a cooperative diversity order, equal to the number of paths between legitimate and illegitimate terminals, in high signal-to-noise ratios. Also, results indicate that secrecy sum-rate-based selection provides better throughput performance than the max-min-based alternative for half-duplex and full-duplex modes. Finally, results show that a large number of friendly jammers do not severely affect the system secrecy performance if they are located relatively far from the illegitimate relay terminal.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"6 1","pages":"50 - 62"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73328792","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The SAPF employs a modified synchronous reference frame technology, an adaptive hysteresis current controller method, and a conventional proportional and integral based voltage regulator for the generation of reference current. The recommended SAPF performs extremely well in suppressing harmonics under varied load and source conditions. The results show that the proposed model outperforms earlier approaches in terms of harmonic mitigation and dc-link voltage stability. It was created in MATLAB/Simulink. The SAPF can minimise harmonics of the source current from 26.74% to 1.565% and 20.25% to 1.80% for inductive and capacitive load case respectively under ideal source condition and 30.05% to 3.82% (inductive) and 25.25% to 3.56% (capacitive) under non-ideal source condition. The proposed controller also reduces the ripples from the dc-link capacitor voltage from 22 V to 8 V and 9 V under both the source condition, respectively, based on the numerical comparison of findings.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"14 1","pages":"63 - 77"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-09-12","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"77814320","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

By locating the metasurface lens inside the standard X band pyramidal horn, the SLL is decreased by 4–15 dB in E-plane and 0.8–7 dB in H-plane. The measured results with metasurface lenses demonstrate the reduction of SLL over the entire bandwidth. Good agreement between measurement and simulation results shows the tapering of field distribution over the aperture of the horn antenna.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"40 1","pages":"85 - 94"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-24","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85925649","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The method selects the voltage vector of the inverter based on the quantised values of the instantaneous active and reactive power errors and thereby controls the power exchange between inverter and the Point of Common Coupling (PCC) directly. The method has better dynamic performance, an inherent decoupling of active and reactive powers and robustness against parameter variations. However, the application of DPC to shunt active power filter (SAPF) requires high sampling frequency in the digital controller and at the same time suffers from the issue of the large variation in the switching frequency. This work proposes implementation of a modified switching table of DPC using multisector Discrete Space Vector Modulation(DSVM) concept for the SAPF to alleviate the problem of high sampling frequency requirement and variation in switching frequency and reduce burden on the controller. The performance of the method is evaluated in MATLAB Simulink® environment, verified with 2 kVA laboratory prototype under various load conditions and compared with constant switching frequency-predictive deadbeat DPC method.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"28 1","pages":"147 - 163"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"84509374","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The modified DSTATCOM is incorporated in a three-phase four-wire distribution network. The design criteria of the modified DSTATCOM parameters is introduced. The Hysteresis Voltage Controller (HVC) is used to drive the Voltage Source Converter (VSC) and its reference voltage signal is generated based on the Instantaneous Symmetrical Components Theory (ISCT) to provide the proper compensation to stabilise the system voltage, improve the power factor and mitigate the harmonic distortion. Matlab/Simulink software is used to verify the performance of the modified DSTATCOM with the used controller under different load types and supply voltage conditions. The control algorithm ensures that the bus voltage is maintained at its rated value during different connected loads and supply conditions. Also, it compensates the non-linear and unbalanced supply currents and reducing the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of both current and voltage. The work reported in this paper presents the architectures of two novel circuit configurations dedicated to the realisation of an ideal memristor and a new but useful element, inverse memristor, respectively. Both presented circuit emulators are based on VDCC (Voltage Differencing Current Conveyor) active element. Over the previously reported bulky circuit emulators, the presented emulators have a significant design-related advantage since these are multiplier-less and grounded elements-based architectures. The developed circuits possess a tunability feature with respect to biasing voltage as well as the employed resistance. The mathematical description of pinch-off tuning and utilisation of inverse-memristor (for achieving better control over memristor characteristics) have been discussed with MATLAB simulations. To verify the workability of presented circuit architectures, the PSPICE environment has been chosen for simulation purpose. All the simulation results have been illustrated and discussed in detail. Later, the presented emulator circuits are developed using commercial ICs like CA3080 and AD844, and related results are described.","PeriodicalId":34935,"journal":{"name":"Australian Journal of Electrical and Electronics Engineering","volume":"47 1","pages":"164 - 182"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-08-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"73562438","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
