These measures should not be considered as care, but as last-resort and safety devices. They have negative effects for the people involved, and violate human rights. In France, smoking prevalence remains high, making the fight against tobacco, including smoking cessation, a major public health issue. Nurses play a key role in helping patients to stop smoking.
