After analyzing the characteristics of multi-category low-scale materials, according to the nondimensionalization model, it's more objective to evaluate the materials. Moreover, the improved AHP makes us more comprehensive to evaluate the materials, which not only makes full use of the current transportation power, but also improves the satisfaction level of the customers.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"281 2‐3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132703114","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Besides the traditional cost such as order cost, inventory cost, there is a new introduced cost called the reimbursement cost. Customers are ensured to be reimbursed the difference between the current purchase price and any lower price within a fixed future time limit. The price has a direct impact on the distribution of the demand and the expected demand is a non-increase function of the price. The model is formulated as a discrete-time optimal control problem. Its objective is to maximize expected revenue over the planning horizon. The existence of its optimal solution has been proved based on the (s, S, p) policy.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"266 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133665518","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In particular, we describe how we model physical and information processes in a global maritime supply chain, and how delays propagate under different information scenarios. We describe how the model logic is validated in the context of a large scale project in which amongst others, port operators, shippers, customs, and logistics service providers are involved. Preliminary simulation results indicate how different response measures impact the extent and number of delays in the system.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133101429","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Generally, users can influence others' consumption behaviors via word-of-mouth. But in some special industry such as telecom, some kinds of indirect influences also exist between users and some applications such as social recommendation have been researched on the basis of these influences. In order to explore such influences, this paper selects some attributes to outline the users' consumption behaviors and explores the relationship of the social ties and the behaviors via some analysis experiments. The results show that (1) the social tie attributes have strong correlations with users' consumption behaviors similarity; (2) as the strength of the telecom social ties improve, the similarity value of the users' value-added services using behaviors get greater but (3) the communication behaviors don't have a strong correlation with the strength of telecom social ties.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"12 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122891089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Being the first of its kind to integrate three different literature streams: the task environment, RL activities, and performance, the study attempted to understand their linkages by conducting a large sample survey. Specifically, a questionnaire was adopted to conduct an investigation into the Taiwanese computer, communication, and consumer electronics (3C) retail industry. Based on 284 validated samples and with the use of structural equation modeling, it was found that certain dimensions of the task environment (government, suppliers, and customers) positively and significantly influence RL activities, whereas competitors do not have such influence. Moreover, RL activities positively and significantly influence both environmental and economic performance separately.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133370760","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This paper develops a modular logistics service platform for the third party logistics providers who are facing varied customer requirements from different industries, targeting quick identification of customer requirements and generation of comprehensive and modular logistics services in fast-changing customization environments. Three dimensions of the modular logistics service platform are identified, that is service, process, and activity, which reflects customer's individual requirements. By combining different existed modular components in the service platform, this proposed philosophy can be efficiently used to develop new services for both the existed customers and the new customers.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"115 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117341742","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, most models simulate transfer stations in an isolated way, which may lead to unrealistic results, since both supply and demand of the transfer stations are highly dependent on other parts of the urban transit system. In this paper, we propose a bi-level transfer simulation model, which includes Artificial Urban Transit System (AUTS) and transfer passenger flow simulation. By simulating the whole urban transit network with explicit considerations of passenger's behaviors on route and departure time choice, AUTS can provide dynamic passenger arrivals as input to the transfer passenger flow simulation, which then simulates the passengers' movement inside transfer stations, and evaluates the functionality and performance of transfer stations. This bi-level model can easily captures the changes caused by other parts of the urban transit network. We develop a demonstration system which includes part of Beijing transit network and Dongdan transfer station. Computational experiment results show the advantages of the proposed bi-level model and provide valuable insights to transfer passenger flow management.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"41 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115292922","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Many approaches have been employed to enhance the extent of quality in service operations. The acknowledgement of operations contributing to the customer loyalty can point out in which operations should be concentrated on. Customer loyalty is proved to have relationships to the service quality. Often, service quality cannot be met all requirements or effectively adopted in all activities. The question is that which activities considered as critical ones to which contributing to customer loyalty. However, there is little guidance in the literature about critical operations have an influence on the customer loyalty. In call center environment, there are many activities involved and this is formalized comparing to other services. This paper, therefore, reports on a study that explores the critical activities contributing to customer loyalty in different call center environment. This suggests service providers ensure the quality of their service to the customers and target to the customer loyalty.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"86 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123944522","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Effective extraction of valuable information from these intelligence sources so as to understand the content of intelligence is one of the central issues in security domain. To address this key problem, this paper studies how to extract domain events and generate story representation of the events. We implement a story extraction platform (SEP) which applies pattern matching to extract events from Web news and organizes events based on theme using narrative structure. We also design extraction rules, use domain-specific features and employ ontology to facilitate story extraction in SEP. The experimental results show the effectiveness of our system in security informatics.","PeriodicalId":348698,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of 2010 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-07-15","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129444866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
