Recently, Software-defined networking (SDN) has opened up new opportunities in network measurement and inference. In this work, we demonstrate an efficient flow measurement and inference framework which performs adaptive measurement with online learning. Using the reprogrammability of SDN, we assist network inference with online learning predictions and dynamically update the measurement rules network-wide to track and measure the most informative flows. To best utilize the available measurement resources, we leverage the SDN controller (with its global view) to optimally place flow monitoring rules across network switches. Unfortunately, wireless signal attenuation and noise in this high frequency band is very sensitive to atmospheric conditions, such as temperature and humidity. Given that such atmospheric conditions at any given location could vary throughout the day, mobile communication systems seeking to exploit this band must expect some sort of diurnal variations in attenuation and noise. In this paper, we study the extent of diurnal variation in mmWave channels in three largest cities of Australia by accessing the hourly air quality and weather data over 12 months in 2015. We find that all planned mmWave bands, with the exception of 60 GHz, experiences significant diurnal variation in attenuation and noise. The attenuation and noise generally drops in the middle of the day when temperature rises and humidity falls, but remains high during the night. The diurnal variation is found to be more significant in summer compared to winter. SDN could potentially provide the required flexibility in future mobile architectures, however its introduction into the existing architecture is challenging. In this paper we propose a solution to improve the mobile backhaul's flexibility based on SDN, compatible with the current architecture, focusing on the transparent in-network caching's use case. We explore the design space in terms of function placement, and propose a scalable solution for in-network caching based on stateless DPI and stateful connection tracking. We implemented a prototype of the proposed solution to evaluate its impact on MPEG DASH streaming performance. After this paradigm shift in VANETs, the traditional gateway selection algorithms and Peer-to-Peer content downloading protocols become inappropriate for vehicles to cooperatively acquire big-size Internet contents from roadside infrastructures (e.g. LTE-BS). To address this problem, we propose a Prior-Response-Incentive-Mechanism (PRIM) to stimulate vehicles to take part in cooperative downloading in VANETs-LTE heterogeneous network and we use game theory to analyze vehicles behaviors and find the optimal strategy for each cooperator. In consideration of the effect of mobility, wireless channel and Named Data in VANETs, the mechanism can fulfill vehicles demand timely and properly evaluate vehicles contributions. To adapt to these trends, software-defined radio has garnered more interest. In order to adapt to evolving standards while maintaining strict timing constraints, heterogeneous computing has been explored. In this demonstration, we take a new approach to the design of an 802.11a transceiver system on a heterogeneous system, the Zynq SoC. We take high-level Simulink models and develop several variants to enact different boundaries between components targeted for hardware and software. We then auto-generate C code from the software components and HDL code from the hardware components and use this to build both a CPU executable and an FPGA bitstream. We validate, profile, and analyze the models using metrics such as maximum step time per frame and FPGA resource utilization. In this paper, the impact of the nonlinearities on the amplified multicarrier signal is analyzed considering both linearization and Peak-to-Average Power Ratio (PAPR) reduction techniques. Therefore, we provide the expression of the Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) of the amplified signal using polynomial predistortion and clipping techniques. The EVM expression is a series expansion that depends on the Power Amplifier (PA) and predistortion coefficients, as well as, the PAPR and the average power of both input and clipped signals. The simulation results show that the proposed expression presents perfect accuracy. Moreover, theoretical analysis of the trade-off between the power amplifier linearity and efficiency is investigated considering the performance of the clipping and predistortion techniques. Therefore, an analytical expression which gives the optimal Input Back-Off (IBO) maximizing the PA efficiency, with respect to an EVM constraint and a given predistortion complexity, is provided. Beyond managing data flows, an SDN enabled switch that automatically manages different applications in the form of an ecosystem has more practical benefits. Recently there is an increasing interest on migrating applications from `Cloud' to the edge switches, such as `Fog' computing for IoTs. To cater to such interests, we envisage an architecture that empowers SDN (beyond Layer-2 flow management) to automatically manage applications embedded within the switch. In this paper, for the first time, we propose an SDN-based auto-docker framework integrated within the switches. The proposed framework augments SDN architecture to enable auto-docking/undocking of applications at the edge switches. By `auto', we mean the required application is automatically identified (agnostic to the users) from the incoming packet, installed seamlessly, and subsequently uninstalled from the switch when it is no longer needed. In this manner, the docker framework automatically and effectively manages the storage, computing, and networking resources of the switch. We show that the storage capability of future network User Terminals (UT) can be effectively used to increase the capacity in random decentralized uncoded caching. We further propose a random decentralized coded caching scheme which achieves higher capacity results than the random decentralized uncoded caching. In today's mobile market, customers can therefore choose their preferred data plan from a number of alternatives. There is, however, limited knowledge about how sensitively customers react to changed pricing for a data plan. In this paper, we focus on tiered data plans, i.e., specific pairing of price and data capacity, and empirically analyze the utility for customers of the tiered data plans by applying choice-based conjoint analysis. Even though first consumer hardware is already available, specific propagation effects are not yet well understood. Analyses of wireless network behavior with mm-wave communication links are required to design efficient protocols. In this work, we consider three well-known problem scenarios in wireless networks in our ray-tracing based channel simulation framework mmTrace. Our results indicate that mm-waves exhibit advantages to block interferences but also raise the question of optimal antenna alignment.
