In this paper, we present a new differential images based face recognition approach to deal with low resolution and variable illumination problems. Firstly, we resort to down-sampling and interpolation to build differential image database. Then feature extraction is preformed to project the differential images into differential feature subspace. For recognizing input low-resolution (LR) face images that suffer from illumination variation, normalization are employed to compensate the illumination of LR images and hallucination method is to infer the corresponding project coefficients in the differential feature subspace. Finally, similarity measure is used for face discrimination. Different from Eigenspace-based face recognition techniques, the utilization of differential images instead of original images ensures the distinction between face images of different subjects more effectively. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed approach can improve recognition rate of LR face under variable illumination significantly.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117168156","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Difference values of two adjacent pixels are used to estimate the secret bits number to insert in corresponding pixels. This technique has the advantage of inserting larger secret data in edge areas compared to smooth areas in cover images. The novelty is given by the choosing in a chaotic manner of the two pixel group to be used for both insertion and extraction. In this way, the inserted message becomes secure against message recovery attacks and spread over the whole image. Concerning the image quality and message capacity of the method, the results show the same performances obtained by Yang et al.'s method.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125763998","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Usually, the expansion ratio m is not a square integer, and results in the variant aspect ratio of the revealed image. The large size expansion is not convenient for storage and transmission. In this paper, an improved aspect ratio invariant visual cryptography scheme with optional size expansion is proposed. The details of the secret image have a priority to be preserved in the revealed image. Theoretically, the size expansion can be any value larger than 0. Compared with the literature schemes, our scheme can preserve the details well, especially for the thin lines in the secret image.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"92 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126190866","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, improvements are proposed for a linear prediction technique for reversible data hiding of audio waveforms. The proposed modified error-expansion method is able to control the sound quality degradation of the stego signal by varying the payload size of segmented audio waveforms. Detection of tampered stego frames is possible through the modified technique, while the hosts of uncorrupted stego signals can be perfectly recovered. Additionally, concealment of a payload within the stego data is better than by the previous method.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121844461","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

UWB communications systems share the spectrum with other systems in an unlicensed manner. This has caused a strict spectral constraint. In order to discuss power spectrum distribution, it analyzed the channel modeling subgroup of IEEE 802.15.4a from three aspects: the average pathloss, the power delay profile and the small-scale fading statistics. Theoretical analysis and simulation of the 2-10GHz power spectrum distribution of UWB system is described in detail. The power spectrum influence of 8 channels upon DS-PAM UWB system is analyzed. Simulation results show that the performance of UWB system isn't deteriorated by multi-path channel, and impulse UWB has better performance in anti-multipath interference.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"56 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123807248","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Since the tags annotated by users are often noisy, ambiguous, and subjective, it is beneficial to fully utilize the multiview information and borrow strength from multiple data sources to boost the performance of image annotation and tag-based image retrieval. Therefore, the appropriate integration and utilization of complimentary cues from multiple modality in multiple data sources is an important research topic. Inspired by the recent advances of multiview learning and shared subspace learning, this paper proposes an approach, namely Multimodality Multi-source Nonnegative Matrix Factorization (M2NMF) to learn a shared and corresponding individual structures from multimodality data via nonnegative matrix factorization. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"245 2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132403217","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A Flash player renders 2D vector graphics images, while the image quality is not degraded no matter how it is scaled up or down. A variety of Flash animations and games have been implemented on mobile devices recently, but they are difficult to be played smoothly without a high end processor. Since the OpenVG standard was released and the accelerator was realized, the performance of vector graphics rendering on embedded devices are enhanced. The stereoscopic 3D application has been getting more attention, so we developed a Flash player with a depth map configuration tool to convert a 2D images to 3D based on Depth-Image-Based Rendering (DIBR) algorithm. The enhanced Flash player which supports OpenVG renderer library was realized to display the stereoscopic image by modifying the Gnash to translate the Flash SWF format to the OpenVG, which is then processed by the OpenVG accelerator.","PeriodicalId":347937,"journal":{"name":"2012 Eighth International Conference on Intelligent Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-07-18","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130256056","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
