First, it requires transferring theoretical knowledge to practice through the development of simulations recreating life situations. Secondly, the development of the content takes into account ways of maintaining high levels of independent learning and motivation. Thirdly, a Life-long learners course is built to match diverse audiences in different age ranges, with different prior knowledge and different technological orientations. The technological innovations of recent years enable us to simultaneously, monitor the learning process through analytical applications (data mining) that provide real-time information about the learning patterns of large and heterogeneous groups of learners, and also enable us to evaluate the degree of involvement in learning and predict the chances of success in the course. However, the best combination of the analysis tools in the instructional-studies process is at its inception, especially in the collection and analysis of ongoing data throughout the learning period, and the concentration of insights that will enable practical advice to improve the process of teaching and learning. This work focuses on data analytical insights from a MOOC in negotiation management, attended by approximately six thousand students over six months. The result was an improved teaching and learning experience. The course opens with an innovative approach of edutainment (Educational Entertainment, presenting life-negotiation situations. The content of the course is in mini-case format, based on the principle of sitcoms; a series of episodes that follow the lives of four characters and a turnover of supporting actors. After each episode, the situations are abstracted and generalized to daily uses of negotiation practices; the lecturer then further analyses them through models and concepts learned in the course. The discourse between the characters includes negotiating situations, which entice authentic learning","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122979009","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The decisions we make are a reflection of our values and beliefs. Our values motivate us to understand our roles in the society. Values reflect a person’s sense of right and wrong or what ought to be? They are tied to emotions, feelings and way of life. Personality is a mixture of a person’s physical characteristics, intellectual traits, deep-rooted values and beliefs and emotional state which makes who we are. The present paper is an effort to understand the student’s perception towards values in shaping their personality because values help to create the future we want to grow and develop.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132036952","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In our research, we highlight excerpts from her narrative in which the teacher in formation is critical in relation to the behaviour of her regent teachers. The research favours understandings arising from the study of narratives and identity performances. We focus on how the student discursively constructs her experience of formation in supervised training and the possible meanings that emerge from this production. The results point to the need to reflect closely on the supervised internship process as a space for real action (and not just observation) in which the student has to prepare for the challenges of teaching. Another question that pertains our research is how we can better deal with the tensions between teachers in charge for the classes and teachers in training so that the experience of the Teaching Practice can include not only technical questions, but also didactic ones in its ethical and dialogical dimensions, always paying head to the training of the future language teachers so as to allow them to work in different teaching / learning spaces.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"93 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124539974","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is not limited to, but briefly touches the principle and practices of Evidence-Centered Design (ECD), and tries to establish linkages at various points of the testing cycle. While emphasizing the need of evidence-based approach of test development and interpretation of test scores, the paper also argues in favour of rigour-relevance balance. It extends to using evidence from measurement models from Classical Test Theory and Item Response Theory. However the intent is not just an academic review or psychometric analyses, but to produce usable evidence and present evidence in simpler form to users, who may be great subject experts and instruction designers or policy makers, but may not be great measurement experts.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"33 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117023727","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Certain indicators that have been internationally established and validated for the measurement of the institutional characteristics of Democracy and are monitored and stored in international databases, are examined and assessed for their applicability to the field of the University institutional characteristics, after appropriate adaptation. Various international organizations and research programs have as their main objective the systematic creation and support of specialized, time-spanning databases using variables and indicators and composing global reports that record and highlight the quality characteristics of democracy, both locally and globally. In the proposed research, in-depth analysis of the features presented in six of the most important and representative such databases and organizations, revealed a set of significant characteristics that are complementary to each other, providing a consensus for the construction of a common conceptual framework. The University, on the other hand, is a multifaceted social institution with strong interactions with many and diverse sectors of society. Although its role and contribution to the general democratic societal operation has been studied to some extent, the way and specific processes of creation, establishment and interaction of the institutions that act internally at the university and its democratic operation, have not. In this paper the ‘democratic’ university is approached through its mission, the multifunctional operations it performs and its complicated and highly complex interactions with all societal actors, the industry, the labor market and the respective government bodies. Essentially, it is an attempt to systematically approach and analyze democratic institutions embedded within the university, or even to identify their possible inherent or acquired weaknesses, through the selection and adaptation of valid sets of indicators used for democracy, as these are portrayed on the conceptual framework proposed in this research.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-26","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127219955","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, a great number of them remain unmotivated, especially in the distance learning process. We conducted a survey at ICT College, Belgrade involving 265 students aged 19-22 regarding student motivation. Our goal was to make distance learning more motivating for students. Being aware and excluding the indisputable social, financial or psychological reasons for decreasing motivation of students in the learning process, our survey revealed that a means of communication itself can influence motivation. We started from the premise that digital life is part of everyday life and that students enjoy it. Therefore, we wanted to exploit the fact that almost all students are social media users. The survey revealed that students suggested Instagram should be used in both learning and distance learning processes. Another interesting conclusion is that students like avatars and suggest that all students should create their avatars and then gather to communicate in a virtual world together with their teachers, which would make lessons and communication much more fun and effective. Finally, according to the surveyed students’ suggestions, we suggest creation of completely new technological identity – social media avatars as the next generation of distance learning trainees.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"31 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133016841","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The study aims to raise awareness regarding the level of EFL teachers’ job satisfaction in an English preparatory programme through critically exploring and understanding their perspectives and views about factors affecting teachers’ job satisfaction in general and their views about the level of job satisfaction in their teaching context. Moreover, the study aims to challenge and possibly change the adopted policies in the described context by giving teachers voice to suggest best practices to enhance their satisfaction with their job. Informed by a critical agenda and underpinned by a critical philosophy that believes in giving teachers voice in their own profession, qualitative data was collected through semi-structured interviews conducted with teachers working in the studied context. The analysis of the collected data showed that teachers’ views about job satisfaction resonate with job satisfaction theories and recent empirical research findings. Moreover, the findings showed that teachers in the described context suffer from obvious job dissatisfaction that need to be taken seriously to prevent their turnover and lose of literate experienced qualified teachers that are aware of their problems, capable of reflecting on them, and are able to recommend solutions that can transform practices and elevate their pain. Finally, it is believed that the kind of reform teachers suggested is worth implementing, as it is capable of enhancing job satisfaction level in the described context.","PeriodicalId":347644,"journal":{"name":"Proceedings of The International Conference on Innovative Research in Education","volume":"24 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133675951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
