Sweet whey, UF-milk permeate or water were added to fresh cow’s milk in a ratio of (1:1). Yoghurt drink cultures: ABT probiotic yoghurt culture (Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium bifidum, & Streptococcus thermophilus) and YCX11 thermophilic yoghurt culture (Streptococcus thermophilus & Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus) were also used. The higher total solid (TS) content were shown in sweet whey yoghurt drink samples meanwhile, water samples were the lowest. ABT yoghurt drink samples exhibited pH values slightly lower than that of YC-X11 when compared at the same order. Lb. acidophilus was recorded a developing count in water yoghurt drink treatment along 14 days meanwhile; sweet whey yoghurt drink treatment recorded the highest developing count up to 21 days of storage at (4 ± 1°C). The lower TS content the lower developing count of Lb. acidophilus. The joint growth of S. thermophilus and (B. bifidum & Lb. acidophilus) was better more than that with Lb. bulgaricus even at the low levels of the TS. No yeast and mold counts were detected in all treatments when fresh and during storage up to the day 21. For the sensory character assessed sweet whey yoghurt drink treatments were the most preferred and UF-milk permeate yoghurt drink was slightly less acceptable. Three replicates were carried out for each treatment and the data obtained were statistically analyzed at p ≤ 0.05.","PeriodicalId":346845,"journal":{"name":"Middle East Journal of Agriculture Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129741597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The survival percentage varied significantly according to rootstock type. Freedom rootstock recorded the highest survival percentage (80.00 and 83.33 %) and F.C.C (2.41 and 2.53) in 2012 and 2013 seasons, respectively. While, Harmony rootstock recorded the lowest survival percentage (60.00 and 66.67 %) and F.C.C (1.51 and 1.82) in both seasons, respectively. Meanwhile, difference in F.C.C. value between Freedom and Salt creek was insignificant in both seasons. Freedom rootstock recorded the maximum values of scion shoot length (93.55 and 95.86 cm) and leaf area (95.24 and 105.49 cm2) in 2012 and 2013 seasons, respectively. While, Harmony rootstock achieved the minimum values of shoot length (67.43 and 71.67 cm) and leaf area (73.37 and 79.60 cm2) in the two studied seasons, respectively. However, differences in both shoot length and between Freedom and Slat creek rootstocks are insignificant in both seasons. Freedom rootstock recorded the maximum figures of the aerial portion fresh weight (7.65 and 8.89 g), fresh weight of root system (2.94 and 4.23 g), dry weight of the aerial portion (2.07 and 2.52 g) and dry weight of root system (1.7 and 2.4 g) in the two seasons, respectively. While, Harmony rootstock showed the minimum values of fresh weight of aerial portion (5.65 and 6.33 g), fresh weight of root system (2.30 and 2.91 g), dry weight of the aerial portion (1.65 and 1.81 g) and dry weight of root system (1.34 and 1.63 g) in the two studied seasons, respectively. Meanwhile, differences in fresh wt. and dry wt. of aerial portion between Freedom and Salt creek were insignificant in both seasons. The obtained results revealed that canes of Freedom rootstock exhibited the largest total indoles (0.29 and 0.30 mg/g F.W.), free indoles (0.25 and 0.26 mg/g F.W.). But they showed the lowest total phenols (0.17 and 0.15 mg/g F.W.) and free phenols (0.15 and 0.13 mg/g F.W.) in 2012 and 2013 seasons, respectively. On the contrary, canes of Harmony rootstock exhibited the minimum values of total indoles (0.24 and 0.23 mg/g F.W.) and free indoles (0.19 and 0.20 mg/g F.W.) and the highest figures of total phenols (0.24 and 0.23 mg/g F.W.) and free phenols (0.20 and 0.18 mg/g F.W.) in both seasons, respectively. However, no significant differences were detected in total indoles and total phenols between Freedom and Slat creek rootstock in both seasons.","PeriodicalId":346845,"journal":{"name":"Middle East Journal of Agriculture Research","volume":"22 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127210255","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this study, we investigated the effect of foliar spray application of two biostimulants, seaweed extracts made from Ascophyllum nodosum and effective microorganisms, alone or combined with each other, on increasing the vegetative growth of Vitis vinifera cv. Ruby Seedless. Two concentrations of (1g/L and 2g/L) were used for each substance to asset their impact on yield, chemical characteristics of berries, leaf area shoot length. All treatments showed a stimulatory effect for studied parameters. The results indicate that the vines treated with the lower levels of EM 1g/L combined with higher levels of seaweed A. nodosum 2g/L produced the highest absolute yield and least shot berries % relative to the untreated vines.","PeriodicalId":346845,"journal":{"name":"Middle East Journal of Agriculture Research","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130173294","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, there is also another perspective within agri-food marketing that is mesomarketing. In this regard, the research attempted to further research the realm of agri-food mesomarketing and attempt to better ascertain, assess and diagnose mesomarketing in agri-food marketing in developing economies. The findings from the research provided that agri-food mesomarketing has an important role to play, not only as per its conduit between micromarketing and macromarketing, but for its importance per se. In fact, the research findings provided that a more holistic approach to agri-food marketing is important i.e. the combination and integration of micromarketing, mesomarketing and macromarketing. The research also found the importance of agri-food mesomarketing in terms of, for example, further developing regional and/or provincial agri-food marketing systems within a country; developing city, town and village agri-food marketing systems; developing networks of local vertical, horizontal and facilitating marketing systems; developing markets in both rural and urban areas; facilitating and enhancing community agri-food marketing systems, community and non- autochthonous community-based enterprise marketing practices and group collective marketing practices ; fostering growth poles and economic corridors as well as in-country regional and rural development policies. However what also emerged from the research findings was the evident lack of research specifically on agri-food mesomarketing, a lack of research conducted taking a specific agri-food mesomarketing perspective in particular and also a lack of research on agri-food mesomarketing practices.","PeriodicalId":346845,"journal":{"name":"Middle East Journal of Agriculture Research","volume":"101 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131655933","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Results showed that all ozone treatments of strawberry fruits reduced weight loss and did not show any decay until the end of storage period. Strawberry fruits which exposed to ozone gas for 30 min. was the most effective treatment in maintaining fruit quality, it would reduce weight loss percentage and resulted in fruits with no decay and maintained fruit firmness, TSS, ascorbic acid content, anthocyanins content and total sugars and also gave fruits with good appearance after 21 days of storage at 0C and 95 % RH as compared with the other treatments and untreated control.","PeriodicalId":346845,"journal":{"name":"Middle East Journal of Agriculture Research","volume":"23 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"131727748","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
