The absorption coefficient obtained by the TOF method was consistent with the content of water in the tissue. The DR measurement indicates the very large attenuation in the wavelength region above 1.4 /spl mu/m. In this region, it is suggested that the optical transport does not diffuse well and it is localized at the light source.","PeriodicalId":346624,"journal":{"name":"The Second Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics, 2004. The wound size assessment should include length, width, area and perimeter. The program enables the user to calculate the linear distance (width and length) of an image. The mouse is used to trace the cursor around the image outline (perimeter). Manual calibration of the measurement can be carried out to increase wound assessment accuracy and reliability. In addition, at any time, a patient's wound images and image data may be viewed in chronological order for the purpose of comparison. This provides a visual and informative record of changes to the wound over time. Finally, wound measurement software provides all the features necessary to work with databases, such as entering new data, and modifying or viewing existing data.","PeriodicalId":346624,"journal":{"name":"The Second Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics, 2004. Because of the concern for cosmetic and functional preservation, PDT seems to be particularly suited for head and neck tumor treatment. Results from previous studies are promising. Good cosmetic and functional outcomes can be achieved without compromising the patients' survival. PDT is a therapeutic option that may prove a useful addition to the armamentarium of the integrated head and neck oncology team.","PeriodicalId":346624,"journal":{"name":"The Second Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics, 2004. We used double integrating sphere system and inverse adding-doubling (IAD) method to evaluate tissue optical parameters (absorption coefficient, /spl mu//sub a/, scattering coefficient, /spl mu//sub s/) of different cervix dysplasia. We used fluorescence Monte Carlo model included absorption coefficient and scattering coefficient from IAD and integrate sphere, to simulate autofluorescence spectra. The results show the increasing thickness of abnormal tissue on the cervical epithelium accompanied with the decreasing in autofluorescence intensity, in collagen peak (390 nm) and in NADH peak (460 nm), along with the lesion developments.","PeriodicalId":346624,"journal":{"name":"The Second Asian and Pacific Rim Symposium on Biophotonics, 2004.
