The algorithm is developed from the optoacoustic wave equations and takes advantage of the simplification associated with line focusing, which is implemented with a synthetic aperture focusing and adaptive weighting method. Computer simulations and experiments were conducted to verify efficacy of the algorithm. In this article we investigate the effects of electrical characteristics of molecules on their effectiveness in transdermal drug delivery. Using multiphoton microscopy, we imaged the skin treated with fluorescent model drugs having different charges. We will present both the images obtained at different depths and axial fluorescence intensity profiles. Time-resolved autofluorescence was measured at 633 nm under 410-nm excitation for 15 VH, 9 EH, 14 ED, and 38 NOM samples, and the two-component lifetimes for each measurement were calculated and a two-dimensional scatter plot was constructed. A Fisher's discriminant analysis (FDA) were used to classify the 4 types of tissues.
