The core of the system provides basic editing functionalities for the managed ontologies, while at the same time allowing for more advanced operations to be plugged-in and applied on them, including the execution of ontology integration algorithms or the enrichment of the ontological knowledge bases via conceptualization mechanisms. The system is able to handle and visualize any ontology accessible from a SPARQL endpoint, and as such could be used to visualize portions of Linked Open Data repositories as well. The prototype has been applied on a case study revolving around a learning application for lawyers within the context of a larger software framework.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"79 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124480239","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Current context and activity recognition techniques work well in fixed environments where sensors deployment and data are known but are not adaptable to dynamic and changing situations when, for instance, a learner moves from dense to rare sensor environments. Moreover, even if we are able to recognize with more or less precision activities, it still remains the issue of understanding if there are useful and interesting educational concepts related to the activities. In this short paper we discuss our ideas and preliminary results on the definition of an opportunistic approach to recognize activities and contents that leverages on the characterization of the environments in terms of sensor richness and knowledge expressiveness. The basic idea is to recognize the kind of environment in which a learner is involved and then to adapt the most suitable techniques taking advantage of the specific features of the environment. Next, we discuss two measures allowing us to understand i) the cohesion degree of the set of (informal, not formal, formal) activities a learner is involved in, and ii) if the the learner is able and in a proper disposition to acquire new knowledge or develop a new competence from the execution of activities. We propose the adoption of the first measure in the fitness function of a swarm intelligence algorithm to optimise the search of cohesive activities.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132964237","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This work proposes a framework for supporting Self-regulation in Seamless Learning scenarios. The framework is based on the Endsley's Model for Situation Awareness. Moreover, the framework is contextualised to a specific class of learning scenarios in order to better explain its potentiality. In particular, the framework allows to define a Decision Support System which exploits the recognized situations for supporting learners in self-regulating their learning processes. Situation Theory is adopted to provide a formal model describing the whole learning situation of the learner. Lastly, a set of algorithms and semantic techniques are proposed to support the above mentioned automatic recognition.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"164 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121577456","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Meanwhile, considering the demand for reduction in power consumption for networks, it is desired to halt network appliances that have little traffic. However, when a network appliance is halted, there is a possibility that traffic will concentrate at a specific network appliance that is operating, which may result in congestion. Furthermore, since there are variations in the amount of traffic on real networks, it is necessary to perform switching for booting and halting routers, links, etc. Therefore, control is needed such that appliances will be halted as much as possible while avoiding congestion in view of variations in the amount of traffic. Accordingly, in the research reported in this paper, we designed a method of controlling halting and booting of links and nodes in a situation where the amount of traffic varied, and we evaluated the effectiveness of the proposed control method through numerical experiments.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"74 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114698956","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Algorithms based on the exploration of the neighborhood of a single solution, like simulated annealing(SA), have offered accurate results for a large number of real-world problems in the past. Because of their trajectory based nature, some advanced models such as the cooperative one are competitive in academic problems, but still show many limitations in addressing large scale instances. In addition, the field of parallel models for trajectory methods has not deeply been studied yet (at least in comparison with parallel population based models). In this work, we propose a new hybrid algorithm which improves cooperative single solution techniques by using path relinking, allowing both to reduce the global execution time and to improve the efficacy of the method. We applied here this new model using a large benchmark of instances of two real-world NP-hard problems: DNA fragment assembly and QAP problems, with competitive results.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"49 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"123706984","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We propose to exploit the hand motion characteristics gathered from 3D sensor device as input data for identification system. Currently for various reasons people are concerned about directly touching the biometric scanners, therefore touch-less and non-invasive approach seems to be useful in practical applications. In the described scheme palm and fingertip positions are tracked in real-time, while the defined gesture is performed. The proposed gesture is composed of the spatially arranged well-known signs like letters and numbers. The applied matching algorithm utilizes a combination of DTW and DCT techniques for comparing data series. The experiments show promising results using the proposed method.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"118 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125080617","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A recent report mentions that about seventy percent of all business interactions are handled in CCs. One of the issues in CCs is the high rate of employee attrition, referred to as Customer Service Representative (CSR) turnover. It is mentioned in the literature that CSRs do not stay in CCs for long, and consequently CCs lose their experienced staff. One of the reasons for this high turnover rate is due to CSR's dissatisfaction with their work environment. There can be many different factors that can lead to such dissatisfaction with the successful identification of the virtual customer being one of them. In this study, we propose a Fuzzy predictive aid system (FPAS) that assists the CSRs in the customer recognition process. The output of FPAS expresses the level of difficulty in customer recognition in two forms, namely: a scalar value and a linguistic value. These values represent to the CSR the level of difficulty in customer recognition before any interaction with a given customer and furthermore depending on that identify the sequence of questions to be asked from the customer for his recognition. Our proposed approach uses Nonlinear integer programming and fuzzy inference based techniques to calculate the level of difficulty that is associated with the recognition of customers.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"03 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127191934","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

There is lot of known methods for graph drawing. In the paper it is suggested to use the algorithm presented by Kamada and Kawai. The main idea of the presented work is to present the comparison of classic Kamada-Kawai algorithm with Newton-Raphson method used for the minimization and the Kamada-Kawai algorithm with Barzilai-Borwein method used instead the Newton-Raphson method. For all cases the results are presented in 2D. As it was proved the computation time was rapidly changed using the suggested Barzilai-Borwein.","PeriodicalId":345650,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Conference on Intelligent Networking and Collaborative Systems","volume":"29 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-09-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115497757","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
