Although handwriting recognition for text contents and mathematical formulae are well-supported in these devices, recognizing handwritten chemical expressions is still very challenging due to its complex spatial structure. In this research, we focus on chemical symbol recognition which is essential for accurate handwritten chemical expression recognition. In particular, we propose an online hybrid Support Vector Machine - Elastic Matching (SVM-EM) approach for handwritten chemical symbol recognition. Based on the proposed chemical symbol recognition approach and an online structural analysis, we have implemented an online handwritten chemical expression recognition system on Apple's iOS platform. In this paper, we present our proposed SVM-EM approach for handwritten chemical symbol recognition and evaluate it with several users to verify its promising performance as a real application.","PeriodicalId":345020,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS)","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122333898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

However, automatic testing script plays an important role in test automation. It has been a hot research topic in Web application. In order to refactor the JavaScript code of Web application more conveniently, an approach to automatic script generation from the defined test case is introduced in this paper. First, it describes the test case using customized XML format. Then, since Selenium platform supports multi-browsers testing, a method to transform XML description into test scripts based on Selenium framework is proposed as the emphasis.","PeriodicalId":345020,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS)","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126828525","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although the quality of the argument is much important to enhance the knowledge construction, it is very difficult for learners without enough arguing-skills to achieve such high quality argument. Therefore, we developed a system that promotes utilization of knowledge conducted in preparation into the argument of face-to-face collaborative learning to enhance the quality of the argument in the collaborative learning. Our system judges real-time argument topics from learners' speech texts obtained by a speech recognizer and then makes the learners aware of learning contents associating with the argument topics during the collaborative learning. In our experiment, we confirmed usefulness of the proposed system by comparing with collaborative learning in an environment without a system.","PeriodicalId":345020,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS)","volume":"35 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127890190","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed method utilizes interactive image cutout and local affine transformation. In the proposed method, once a user draws seed-lines on the object and background regions of the first frame of a video, the seed-lines are automatically tracked to next frames based on local affine transformation, and the object regions in each frame are automatically extracted by image cutout using the tracked seed-lines. Experimental results have shown that the proposed method can correctly extract the regions of nonrigid objects from a video.","PeriodicalId":345020,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS)","volume":"139 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127475498","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This organization within the enterprise rich and diverse types of data is simplified as a two-dimensional table. This approach has limitation. In this paper, for the data organization, we propose to use category theory. We aim to realize a new type of MIR equipped with brain-computer interfaces using electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Toward the new MIR, we propose an architecture of MIR driven by EEG signals in this paper. While the architecture contains many issues to be solved, the point of the architecture is to construct user's music query in multi-layered aggregation of EEG signals. We describe in this paper the preliminary experiments conducted for selecting some appropriate low-level features for our multi-layered query construction and matching. It is obtained that the mental states of users while listening to music can be classified with high accuracy by using EEG signal aggregated features. We are starting development of detailed design of the architecture using the results described in the paper.","PeriodicalId":345020,"journal":{"name":"2013 IEEE/ACIS 12th International Conference on Computer and Information Science (ICIS)","volume":"175 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2013-06-16","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132386462","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
