Through Participatory Action Research ( par ), which uses tools and methodologies from social anthropology, we explored the interests and motivations involved in the formation of these associative working groups, while concurrently identifying their limitations, advantages and contributions to the biocultural defense of the territory. The results show the importance of adopting agroecological practices to counteract deeply exclusionary structures that prevail within the ejidos. They also reaffirm the need to co-construct and generate public policies and programs according to the particular socio-economic contexts and needs to generate well-being and social inclusion of historically subalternized groups and towns.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45762403","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It starts from a documentary review that takes up Bourdieu and Latour to analyze radio as a network of power relations historically constituted and in constant struggle. Consequently, this critical approach reveals the inequitable conditions of the radio field in Mexico and in its subfields. Technology as a reconfiguration factor of the radio field is a line to follow in future studies and reveals how important it is to generate more current anthropological studies on radio diversity in Mexico, which implies closing the gap between doing radio and thinking about radio.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42392035","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This article analyzes some of its effects in five Afro-Mexican municipalities on the coast of Guerrero and Oaxaca. Using official health data and interviews conducted by local researchers, we developed a collaborative study about the situation of infections in the region, the service networks available for their care, and the perception of risk by the population. The results show the uncertainty regarding the virus and –even though the prevalence of infections is apparently low– the pandemic has exposed the precarious socioeconomic and health infrastructure conditions and the structural vulnerabilities in a region with high rates of marginalization. It is an exploratory study that analyzes the first months of the pandemic but contributes to its understanding in rural contexts and among the Afro-Mexican population.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41911597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The information on prohibitions and their effects was documented during 2020. This ethnographical study shows a culture ambivalent toward alcohol and its health consequences, along with a preference for collective consumption and a de-pendence that exceeds the biomedical-individual criteria. Alcoholic prohibitions confirm the tension between positivity and negativity, between the ideal and the reality of consumption. Despite the questions that remain, such as going further in depth regarding“collective dependence”, we consider this article to be an important contribution due to its approaches, and a valuable input for the analysis of public policies for alcohol consumption in Mexico.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41708180","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

A bibliographic review of studies that analyze the tourist  experience was carried out, in which, on the one hand, a high recurrence to the conceptual model of rites of passage and liminality was identified and, on the other, the need to rethink some aspects of such approaches. In particular, the author proposes adopting the idea of liminoid rather than liminality, as well as to move from a functionalist approach to a structuralist one. The proposed model allows, in theory, to meet these needs and, it is hoped that in the light of empirical information, it will constitute a useful way to explore tourism practices with greater specificity.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44121563","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This research, which uses qualitative tools, involved the application of in-depth interviews and participant observation of young members of the indigenous movement in the city, all of them migrants. Some of theresults show that emotions, which can be considered political, such as shame, indignation, and pride, are devices that support or impede mobilization. These emotions strengthen their various forms of protest, consolidate their epistemological struggles, and preserve the essence of their identity through collectively achieved political processes.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"42844882","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this text is to examine the role of oapp during the health crisis, based on the social portrayal of the OAPP’s doctors. Based on semi-structured interviews with physicians from pharmacies located in Mexico City, as well as a review of secondary sources, the article presents the responses to covid-19 and the factors that influence the risk perception of this personnel. It is concluded that despite the omissions of the health sector to include such clinics in the official strategy, these are a fundamental piece in the attention to coronavirus, in which the oapp’s physicians have had the need to adjust their medical knowledge and practice to the new conditions.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48962076","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Poder y simbolismo en la obra de Victor W. Turner (2014), hace una revision completa y rigurosa de la obra de Victor Turner precisamente para destacar las propuestas del procesualismo como parte de una antropologia anglosajona dedicada al analisis del conflicto social, asi como la importancia del papel del simbolo en el proceso de la lucha por el poder. Ademas de estar escrito pulcramente, el libro puede leerse como un recordatorio para los nuevos referentes del pensamiento antropologico que, ante la aparente superacion de sus clasicos, se presentan sin los vinculos academicos a la hora de proponer nuevas teorias. A partir de esta obra, discuto el alcance y los limites del trabajo de Turner para el analisis del poder, asi como el papel que juega el simbolo en este entramado.","PeriodicalId":34371,"journal":{"name":"Alteridades","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2021-06-13","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43916258","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
