Respectively, we show that the main lobes of EM radiation beams accomplish 1D or 2D scans regularly with frequency by using the proposed holographic metasurfaces shaped with different interference patterns. A conventional patch antenna, which is usually used to generate the horizontal polarization, is modified to generate the perpendicular polarizations by including the ring slots. The opposite currents flowing the upper and under conductors generate loop current. For the horizontal polarization ZOR (Zeroth Order Resonance) loop antenna is included in the proposed structure. The uniform current of the ZOR loop antenna effectively generates the horizontal polarization. The simulated result shows that the proposed antenna has -10 dB impedance bandwidths from 5.85 to 5.94 GHz, which is appropriate for DSRC applications. The isolation between ports is higher than 25 dB over DSRC bandwidth. The MIMO antenna consists of two identical monopole antennas on both ends of an FR4 substrate and operates a frequency band at 2.45 GHz. The antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate of permittivity of 4.4, thickness of 1.6 mm, and loss tangent of 0.0245. The isolation mechanism is by cutting U-slot and introducing three isolation elements, which are extended from the ground plane; one is located on the center part of the antenna portion and two strips are located symmetrically at the edges of the U-shaped ground. The overall dimensions (25 × 50 mm2) of the proposed MIMO antenna including an antenna portion (14 × 25 mm2) and a system ground (25 × 36 mm2). The prototype is constructed and investigated. Form the design results, the measured S21 within WLAN 2.4GHz band is below -15 dB; the radiation patterns are with an omni-directional characteristic. At Kyoto University, since the 1980s, various MPT applications have been proposed and much MPT research has been done. The university has two large anechoic chambers for MPT research, which are open for collaborative studies. With these research facilities, we conducted a beam-forming experiment with a phased array to create a flat-top power beam in the near field with high beam efficiency and the high RF-DC conversion efficiency for a rectifying antenna, which is calculated by a genetic algorithm. On the basis of the university's research activities, we promote commercial MPT applications with a consortium called WiPoT, whose membership comprises 29 companies and 38 universities. In recent years, this system is suggested combining with capsular endoscopes being used to diagnose digestive organs. In this paper, we proposed a receiving antenna which is assumed to be stowed in the capsular endoscope to transceive wireless signal for medical applications. This antenna is designed to operate in 430 MHz band. The design adopts a simple 3-layer single polarization structure consisting of two patch antennas and a resonator. Both simulations and measurements are used to characterize the performances of the proposed design. Overall results show 18.5 % 10-dB bandwidth. For the targeted band the insertion loss is less than 0.2 dB. The proposed antenna consists of a coaxially-fed corner-truncated equilateral triangular patch, two small parasitic triangular patches in the vicinity of truncated corners, two PIN diodes located between truncated corners of the patch and parasitic small patches as switch, two RF choke inductors, and dc bias line for practical design. The antenna has four different radiation modes depending on the diodes states (on and off): high-frequency linear polarization, low-frequency linear polarization, left-hand circular polarization, and right-hand circular polarization.
