The planar monopole is designed with one linear polarization (LP) and two circular polarizations (CPs). The rectifying circuit is connected to the antenna with a 50 Ohm microstrip line. The rectenna can harvest the RF power from 5.07 GHz to 5.86 GHz and convert it to DC power efficiently, exhibiting conversion efficiency from 40.2 % to 57.4 % with input power of 16.5 dBm. The antenna is then arranged in a three-element circular array with an inter-element spacing of about a quarter wavelength, and the isolation characteristics are further improved by inserting a slot to the ground plate. Detailed design parameters are optimized by using the GA, and reflection coefficient, axial ratio, and radiation gain are measured in a semi anechoic chamber. The results demonstrate that the antenna is suitable to be used for GPS antenna arrays with good circular polarization properties.","PeriodicalId":342623,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"7 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125324799","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed antenna consists of center-fed circular patch to generate TM01 mode wave and EBG structure around the patch to guide TM01 wave along the horizontal surface (θ = 90°). The EBG structure acts as an inductively reactive surface to support TM01 mode wave along the body surface. The proposed antenna is designed by using textile materials (conductive textile, conductive thread, and leather substrate) and has monopole-like radiation enhanced along the surface direction in 5.8 ISM GHz band. The proposed antenna has a radius of 50 mm (0.96 λ0 at 5.8 GHz) and a thickness of 3 mm (0.058 λ0 at 5.8 GHz). The antenna gain on the phantom surface (θ = 90°) is improved by 3.3 dB from -5.38 dBi without EBG ground to -2.08 dBi with EBG ground. The peak gain direction is increased from 30° to 75° and near broadside gain is suppressed about 9.6 dB (θ = 30°).","PeriodicalId":342623,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"15 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125554815","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Its purpose, as a proficiency test program of the `Antenna Measurement Club' of KRISS, was to check equivalences in antenna parameters measurements, particularly in R-/S-band, between KRISS and participants to support antenna manufacturers and end users in Korea. This comparison uses two traveling standards (i.e. R-/S-band pyramidal standard gain horn antennas) and measurement parameters are the power gain, radiation pattern and reflection coefficient of the traveling standards. Gain comparison method and extrapolation method are used in this comparison.","PeriodicalId":342623,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"48 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128828890","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This BS MIMO-OFDMMO transmission uses a single active antenna compared to the conventional MIMO transmission which requires multiple antennas to get multiplexing gain. For this reason, the hardware complexity of this system is reduced compared to the conventional MIMO system. Also, it is possible to miniaturize the antenna size. This paper proposes the transmitter and receiver structure for BS MIMO-OFDM system and analyzes the system performance. The proposed system has small degradation of BER performance. When the power of transmitted OFDM signal is low, the miss detection probability at the receiver occurs. In order to prevent this phenomenon, this paper would like to improve BER performance of BS-MIMO system by setting thresholds on the transmission power of an OFDM signal.","PeriodicalId":342623,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"30 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129043275","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

To overcome the telemetry problem, we propose a conformal spiral type Implantable antenna at Medical Implanted Communication Service (MICS) band. In addition, we also apply the recently proposed midfield wireless power transfer (WPT) technique at 1.5 GHz to avoid the bulky energy storage component. We simulate and experimentally measure the performance of the implantable antenna by using porcine heart tissue. Our research shows that, the implantable antenna and wireless power transfer scheme can be implemented in a leadless pacemaker without any significant coupling between them.","PeriodicalId":342623,"journal":{"name":"2015 International Workshop on Antenna Technology (iWAT)","volume":"44 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2015-03-04","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132011862","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
