Firstly, models and corresponding controllers can change with the changing operating point via a multi-model switching technique so as to achieve robustness. Secondly, by multi-step prediction, rolling optimization and feedback correction, the plant output is optimized at each sampling interval so as to obtain better dynamic performance. Thirdly, due to good real-time tracking performance, the system can respond faster. Furthermore, in order to inhibit the sudden disturbance, a inner loop of proportional is added to form a cascade MMPC-P controller. The proposed controller consists of a proportional-integral and a repetitive controller (RC), which is developed on both the series and the shunt APFs of the UPQC to compensate (6n±1) (n=1, 2, 3...) harmonic voltages in distorted source voltage and those harmonic currents produced by nonlinear loads. As a result, the load voltage and the supply current are compensated to be sinusoidal. In the proposed RC, the delay time is reduced to be one-sixth of the fundamental period which is much shorter than that of the traditional RC, i.e., one fundamental period. Hence, the proposed RC provides a much faster dynamic response compared to the traditional RC. The proposed control strategy is analyzed and design of the RC for the UPQC is presented in detail. Analysis based on the level of forecast uncertainty is considered. In this switching strategy, the rectifier-stage modulation is adjusted based on the knowledge of the switching logics of the inverter-stage and the operating input voltage sectors. However, the proposed fault-tolerant method does not rely on the assist of any redundant power devices or any reconfiguration of the matrix converter circuit by means of using redundant physical connections. It is shown that different locations of the double open switch affect the availability of the revised modulation. The steady state absolute speed error achieved with the proposed method is 4% of the nominal speed. This paper presents an individual pitch control (IPC) strategy to mitigate the wind turbine power fluctuation at both above and below the rated wind speed conditions. Three pitch angles are adjusted separately according to the generator output power and the azimuth angle of the wind turbine. The IPC strategy scheme is proposed and the individual pitch controller is designed. The simulations are performed on the NREL (National Renewable Energy Laboratory) 1.5MW upwind reference wind turbine model. Wind power can be difficult to utilize, however, due to large fluctuations in power output. Battery-based power control, such as the 34 MW NAS battery system recently installed at a wind farm in Japan, can alleviate this problem. We propose a control method for NaS battery system output that considers wind power variation. In the proposed method, a Kalman filter estimates power system state variables and uses the estimation to cancel load disturbances. Ambikairajah","doi":"10.1109/ASSCC.2012.6523329","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.1109/ASSCC.2012.6523329","url":null,"abstract":"High-impedance faults (HIFs) on distribution system still present the most persistent and challenging problem to protection engineers due to the fact that HIFs do not produce enough fault current, thus not detectable by conventional overcurrent protection devices. Previous research shows that it is possible to distinguish HIFs from other similar waveforms such as nonlinear load currents by analyzing the harmonic contents. A method for HIF detection based on the harmonic analysis of current waveforms is presented here. A harmonic detection program is implemented in MATLAB using both Interpolation Windowed Fast Fourier Transform and All-phase Fast Fourier Transform algorithms. Various simulation results and real-world data analysis show that this harmonic detection program can accurately, reliably and quickly determine the harmonic contents (including frequency, amplitude and phase angle of each harmonic) in an arbitrary signal without knowing its mathematical expression.
