In informatics, biometry refers to technologies that measure and analyze human body characteristics, such as a DNA, a fingerprint, a retina or iris, a voice patterns, a facial patterns and hand, for authentication purposes. This work points out the suggestion of a specialized processor focused on sound biometrics using Dynamic Time Warping method. This method is based on an analysis of the issue for most effective solution in VHDL. This method deals with recognition of certain words in the sentences, which are compared with stored templates. Therefor is it in terms of programming most appropriate and reasonable for processor design.","PeriodicalId":340996,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 12th IEEE International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"39 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115412515","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Even more, in the field of Software Engineering, this issue is even seen as a prerequisite. However, are such students really achieving better results in their studies? In this paper, we deal with this question at least from the perspective of Software Project Management skills. We start with the hypothesis that their work (and project) experience yields to better results in a lecture dealing with these topics. Then we describe the setting of a first pre-study, which was embedded in a lecture about software quality and management at the Technical University of Košice. Next, we discuss the results. In our setting, it turned out that the difference is marginal in average. Even though the scores of students with previous practical experience are not so diverse at the beginning of the lecture, students with prior experience perform slightly better at the end of the course.","PeriodicalId":340996,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 12th IEEE International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"13 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128647564","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We aimed at mentoring of small groups such as student theses and group projects. To support our claims, we performed a qualitative and quantitative study along with an experiment of using social networks in supervising. The studies were answered by multiple high school and university students and teachers. The results of the studies and the experiment are described in this paper. Although social networks have the potential to be used in supervising, they also have a lot of disadvantages making their adoption harder. Existing solutions such as Ning resolved some of these issues, but they are not tailored for supervising. To answer to the results, we describe an outline of the future prototype as a possible solution. We believe that integration of existing solutions is the key to achieve successful results. In our future research, we will leverage not only from the knowledge of the target group of university and high school teachers, but we will also apply experience from practice by cooperating with the Fpt Slovakia, s.r.o. company with the aim of directly preparing students for practice. We have abstracted certain equivalence between graduate profile and a profession profile. Subsequently we have substituted this profiles as a system of a knowledge, ability, skills etc. Applied substitution between profiles and a system allows us to treat it in analogy with software engineering process - Unified Process which describes how requirements are turned into educational content. Such approach leads to models with zero redundancy which is very important for educational content even for computer aided education or distance learning. On one hand, it is the content of the discipline and its assigned time dotation that does not enable implementation of real excursions because of reasons of time; on the other hand, it regards economical limitations, for instance, which prevent students from seeing real environment that would be related to the educational content. Implementation of real excursions is often time-consuming. For the purposes of the future practice of the secondary school graduates it is necessary so that they had opportunities to get acquainted with real environment of their future profession, or opportunities to get acquainted with real professional environment that can influence their future profiling, selection of further education (university education, etc.). Based on the existence of limiting factors in implementation of real excursions and on the need of excursions as a stimulator for further education and work placement of secondary school graduates there emerges the intention of creation of interactive virtual excursions, which could be used both in formal education as a didactic aid based on new technologies and also in extracurricular activities.","PeriodicalId":340996,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 12th IEEE International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132161370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of this article is to analyse students behaviour and the use of e-learning course in subject Discrete Mathematics. Data and results of this analysis are important for further adjustment and improvement of the e-course. Results of the course traffic analysis were estimated using association rules Discrete mathematics is compulsory for both bachelor and master study program Applied Informatics in full-time and distance form of study as well as bachelor and master study program Teaching of academic subjects in full-time and distance form of study. This electronic course is designed to use linear and branched teaching programs. In compiling the course we tried to take into consideration target audience - students of Computer Science. The course is designed to not require any special knowledge in IT field. Discrete Mathematics Course 1 consists of 10 thematic units (areas) replicating the length of the semester in weeks. Authors describe detail analysis of students behaviour which is made of data taken from LMS MOODLE database. We used specific types of data, which are indicating user traffic on every single page of the course. We used a log file that contains records of e-learning course with 107 students. To identify sessions, we used the STT (Session Timeout Threshold). Purpose of session identification is to divide access of all users into separate sessions (relations). Session side-effect may exclude users who are behind a NAT or proxy device. So we can identify users who are sharing a single computer, for example in a library. Students who used the e-course of Discrete Mathematics 1 were more successful in the final examination. The fact that the course is effective does not mean that all activities have been fully utilized. Based on the results of our analysis, we can optimize and improve the e-course and bring it closer to the student's needs. After implementation of necessary changes we can evaluate impact of these changes in the efficacy of the course.","PeriodicalId":340996,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 12th IEEE International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"54 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129791717","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It seems, it is linked with a data retrieval from the memory along with ability to impulse control. These waves dominate in EEG scan from 6 months of life till the age of 6-7. At elderly people the dominance of these waves can be related to drowsiness and excluding from discussion and fully awareness of environment. In the theta state person can think very creatively because it's related with the hypnologic state of mind. These waves can be also observed during visualization. The theta state lies on the edge of our consciousness. In Biofeedback, they are associated with the deepest level of meditation. The Theta is also considered as entrance to memory and learning ability. [1-4] Theta meditation increase creativity and allow learning faster. Theta reduce stress level, unlock the understanding, and other none physical senses. It also helps to release the endorphins, strengthening the immune system.","PeriodicalId":340996,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE 12th IEEE International Conference on Emerging eLearning Technologies and Applications (ICETA)","volume":"231 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114604201","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
