The study was carried out on a soil called petrocalcic Paleustoll, located in the south of the rugged plain of the semiarid Pampa region. In the same lot for three consecutive seasons, Rye (C) and rye + vetch (CV) were sown and fallow was established without cover cultivation. In this way, 6 management treatments for pumpkin cultivation were established: T1: without CC predecessor, with tillage prior to pumpkin planting, and without weed control during the pumpkin cycle. T 2: without predecessor CC with tillage prior to planting the pumpkin, with weed control (tillage and herbicide), during the pumpkin cycle. C H: Rye ancestor used as CC, with growth arrest by herbicide. C R: Rye ancestor used as CC, with growth arrest by rolling. CV H: Rye + Vetch ancestor used as CC, with growth arrest by herbicide. CV R: Rye + Vetch ancestor used as CC, with growth arrest by rolling. The results showed that on average in the 3 seasons C was higher than C V, in 22, 19 and 6% with respect to the total biomass, for the first, second and third seasons, respectively. Cover crops had higher fallow efficiency with respect to treatments without prior CC (T1 and T2). The highest pumpkin yields were over the CC, these being the ones with the lowest UC and the highest EUAt","PeriodicalId":34010,"journal":{"name":"Semiarida","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"67747589","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Although there is hydrological information about them, it is very scarce about their limnological characteristics. The objectives are to know the physical-chemical and zooplankton parameters of two nearby shallow lakes, with and without fishes: Santa Isabel I (SI I) and Santa Isabel II (I II) respectively, and determine the influence of zooplankton on phytoplankton biomass and transparency. It was sampled during 2018 and 2019. In both the mean salinity were less than 1g.L-1 and the Secchi disk depth was around 0.45m. The chlorophyll concentrations varied between 9.32 and 11.63 mg.m-3. Seven cladocerans, 4 copepods and 20 rotifers were recorded. Most of the taxa were shared by both lakes, however, 20 rotifers were recorded in SI I and 13 in SI II. The total zooplankton density did not differ, but SI I had greater abundance of rotifers (69% of total) and SI II of crustaceans (72%). The presence of fish influences the zooplankton composition but its small size, even in the absence of fish, makes it have little influence on the phytoplankton; therefore, no differences were found in the transparency and phytoplankton biomass of both lakes.","PeriodicalId":34010,"journal":{"name":"Semiarida","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2020-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45378126","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The plant collection comprises a variety of species mostly cultivated at its foundation in 1974. In December 2016, a fire that burnt 85% of its area affected a large number of plants. The objective of this work was to carry out a postfire survey of plant collection losses in order to recommend the necessary actions for specimen’s replacement, and other actions for the full recovery of the burnt area. Surveys to identify species, number and condition of burned specimens were conducted 3, 15 and 21 months after the fire. The most affected collections were the Arboretum and the Teaching Garden with a total of 50 dead trees and shrubs specimens, corresponding to 31 taxa, mostly of the Cupressaceae Family. In order to guarantee the preservation of the JBJW didacticscientifichistorical heritage, recovery actions for plant collections affected by fire are recommended.","PeriodicalId":34010,"journal":{"name":"Semiarida","volume":"105 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-12-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"87352895","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Todos los EO probados mostraron una alta actividad de repelencia a la concentracion mas alta establecida (0.3 mg.cm 2 ). Los EO de Baccharis spartioides y Helianthus petiolaris fueron los mas eficientes, mostrando una mayor repelencia en comparacion con el control positivo estandar (DEET). A 3x101 mg.cm 2 , B. spartioides y H. petiolaris mostraron un 95% y un 92,2% de repelencia, respectivamente. La composicion quimica de los EO se analizo luego por cromatografia de gases espectrometria de masas (GCMS), se presenta la primera determinacion de la composicion quimica del EO de H. petiolaris . Finalmente, para evaluar la actividad de repelencia en “condiciones de campo” simuladas, se evaluo el comportamiento de la plaga en harina tratada. En presencia de EO H. petiolaris , el 90% de los insectos abandonaron el grano, mientras que B. spartioides indujo un 81% de emigracion. Para maximizar los rendimientos en la produccion de repelentes, se propuso una mezcla que utiliza EO limon comercial. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una diferencia significativa despues de 24 h de tratamiento, donde la repelencia de la mezcla persistio en contraste con los EO puros. Estos hallazgos presentan las mezclas de EOs de B. spartioides y H. petiolaris como alternativas prometedoras para controlar T. castaneum en granos almacenados.","PeriodicalId":34010,"journal":{"name":"Semiarida","volume":"12 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-10-02","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"81928963","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
