In that sense selected well known measures which are Human Development Index, Happy Planet Index and World Happiness Report are assessed and analyzed in terms of countries which have more Muslim population. By exposing the data from different measures, countries performance on various indicators highlighted. Moreover, indexes stance on measuring wellbeing via various indicators and its effect on Muslim countries performance discussed. This article displays the topics of Thailand published on the international newspapers of Mekong region countries. The data were collected from popular international newspapers in Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam that were online published in 2016. This research is in the linguistic perspectives and use the content analysis as research framework. The research finding totally found 662 news that were published in 5 contents; society, economic, foreign relationship, sports, culture and education. More than half of Thailand’s news was published at Cambodia following by Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos. Most topics in Thailand were society following by economy, sports, foreign relation, and culture and education, respectively. The society topic was highlighted in government activities and the central policy impacting Thai people. The economic topic was the most often published in Cambodia and Vietnam while the politic and society topics were more published in Laos and Myanmar than others. The economic topic was continuously published in all countries especially in Cambodia. The topic of sports was mostly published in Vietnam particularly football. There was not many news in the topics of foreign relationship, culture and education; however, they were presented the educational development participation and joined similar cultures between Thailand and Mekong region countries. The news of Thailand is not only to know what is happening in Thailand, but it also is implying how each country in the Mekong regions emphasize in Thailand. Data were collected through the technology usage scale developed by different researchers in the research. Firstly, the validity and reliability of the scale were tried to be tested on the obtained data and then the questionnaire data were evaluated through various statistical analyzes in accordance with the purpose of the study. As a result, it has been seen that the level of technology usage of university youth has changed according to the current conditions. Considering the answers of students have participated in the research, it is possible to state that their answers to the questions about technology and innovation concepts are at the medium level. It can be said that students see technology as a lifestyle rather than madness and they see technology as a part of their lives. {"title":"Migration exchanges of Russian regions with the CIS-countries and potential of transit movements","authors":"S. Maximova","doi":"10.33422/8hps.2018.10.104","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.33422/8hps.2018.10.104","url":null,"abstract":"Article presents results of statistical analysis about indexes of migration growth in a result of migration exchange of Russian regions with the CIS countries. Subjects of the Russian Federation were considered from the point of view of attractiveness to migrants, bases for analysis are open data of statistical bulletins by the Rosstat. A special attention is paid to the distribution of the most popular migration roots form the CIS countries in the Russian Federation; possible transit regions were specified. Paper specifies groups of subjects, having different attractiveness for migrants. Authors conclude about poor ability of Russian migration statistics to reflect real migration movements of migrants, because a part of migrants hide real purposes of their visit and wish to make easier the stay in the Russian Federation or sometimes plan to use illegal roots and resources of migration to the Western (or other) countries because the absence of opportunity of legal crossing through strictly protected or nontransparent borders. Statistics of the transit covers only those migrants, who are sure in the final point of movement and legally move through the transit stages, or those, who are in temporary migration (tourism, education, work of private visits) and move in transit in the Russian Federation. There is a tendency of meagre flows of migrants from the CIS countries to ethnic republics of Russia. The criteria of regional differences “Russian core – Ethnic regions” determines peculiarities of migration processes. Much is written about what participation in philosophy might do for children academically and emotionally. What is proposed here is that by allowing children to participate in philosophical dialogue they will learn an approach that might support their participation in society which might involve them in the consideration and airing of their views, making decisions and their interactions and relationships with others. It is inevitable that by living with others one encounters others’ values. It is essential, therefore, that children learn how to deal with others’ values but also that they learn how to develop their own through questioning and reflection. Rather than teach children about values or teach them the values they should hold, this article suggests that children should be afforded opportunities to explore a range of perspectives but that they need to learn how to do this. In addition, though, in order to live harmoniously with others, there are considerations beyond ethics to be encountered. Children need to learn how to engage with politics, art, science, literature, and the wider range of issues that comprise life in a society. Indeed, children need to learn what is required of being a citizen. Here the learning of the child is contextualised in the Scottish Curriculum for Excellence, where children are expected to be able “to make informed choices and decisions” and to “develop informed, ethical views of complex issues” (Scottish Executive, 2004, p.12) as part of their education for citizenship. If being a citizen involves these elements, then there is a challenge to teachers as to how children will achieve the desired outcomes. The aim of such a curriculum is that children ‘learn for life’ by acquiring life skills in order that society will benefit. It is posited, in this article, that by participating in philosophical dialogue one is likely to foster appreciation for others and their perspectives, that one’s own values and opinions evolve, and that this philosophical outlook may, in fact, work for the betterment of society.
