Continued occurrences of these events suggest us about the need to enforce risk management policy related to the prediction of the event and the mitigation of his effects. Consequently, a basic approach focused on damage repairing and on the provision of benefits, has to be overcome toward a culture of prevention and prediction, spread out at various levels, based on the identification of risk conditions and on the adoption of measures aimed to minimize environmental impacts. For the prevention, problem resolution is not easy to define the precursors and thresholds. To this scope it is focused the project \"Smart Multichannel Open Standard Data System Platform to Natural Risk Assessment-MODS\" with a collaboration between three companies, Sysman, Servizi di Informazione Territoriale S.r.l. and Ingloba360 srl, the National Research Council - Institute of Water Research and the Department of Agriculture with the Associazione dei Consorzi di Difesa della Puglia (ASSOCODIPUGLIA, Consortium Association of Apulia protection). In the project, there is the direct involvement of Civil Protection. This collaboration has created an innovative vigil and pre-alert system as regards hydro-geological danger. System is able to manage in an interoperable way a huge quantity of data based on a data warehouse with a subsystem of Recording Weather Alert and Relevant Events - ReWARE. The application of this system allows a continuous monitoring with an automatic upgrade in real time, it is constituted by a telemetry network with coverage rising of the 94% of the Apulia region. At the same time it creates a vigil on the level of criticality much more efficient of the currently systems operating on the territory with a more sudden intervention not only in the areas constantly monitored, but through the new mobile network it is possible also a sudden intervention or a predictive analysis. The system, that is applied for the first time, fully automated, permitted to collect the date directly from the station, to process them, elaborate the status, identified the result on the regional territory using the GIS technology, and create a series of map that identified the status of the territory","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"5 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128911509","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In such systems, the main purpose is to improve the quality of current collection. Many factors and parameters can affect the interaction between the pantograph and the catenary. Internal or external factors affect the dynamic behavior of the system and lead to parameter variations. In practical applications, the system parameters can be changed very quickly. Therefore, the sensitivity of the system corresponding to the parameter variations is very important. In this study, the effects of parameter variations of pantograph on the system were investigated for the pantograph-catenary system. The system response caused by the parameter variations was examined for a constant reference contact force. Simulation studies were performed in Matlab-Simulink. The new transfer function was obtained by keeping the other parameters fixed in each parameter variation. The simulation result obtained by the new transfer function was compared with the simulation result of reference value. A parameter variation impact on the system response was also interpreted by comparing it with other parameter variations. After analyzing the effects of parameters on the system response, modeling can be accomplished by determining the appropriate control techniques. However, instead of setting the controller parameters for each parameter variation, the use of active control techniques would be more appropriate.","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"87 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125573737","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In this paper, multilayer medium technique is employed to produce the needed independent reflection coefficients for simultaneous nondestructive determination of complex permittivity and permeability of radar absorbing coatings at X-band of microwave frequency range. The technique is based on measuring two reflection coefficients of finite flange open-ended waveguide reflection sensor placed in close contact with the material under test backed by metal. The first reflection coefficient is measured using sample of material under test, while the second one is done to test again a combination of this sample followed by material sample with a known permittivity, permeability and thickness to form a multilayer medium sample. Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method is applied to numerically formulate the aperture admittance and calculate reflection coefficients for the two cases. Both complex permittivity and permeability are extracted iteratively by imposing reflection coefficient value, both obtaining from FDTD modeling and measurement using Newton-Raphson method. The technique is used to measure EM-properties of radar absorbing coatings using Vector Network Analyzer. Preliminary results of ε* and μ* are in good agreement with published data. Through numerical simulations and measurement, it has demonstrated that the technique is promising for simultaneous nondestructive multiparameter (EM-properties and physical quantities) measurement of high loss materials and other applications such as thickness evaluation of layered media. The FDTD simulations and experiments results are presented.","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"38 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114551682","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In the recent years, GPS based solutions have become popular since people are able to see the traffic flow on streets instantaneously. However such systems are lack of intelligent reasoning regarding the traffic problems. As a result, one cannot anticipate the traffic slowdown duration and overall impact. This study proposes a social network based solution using web services where people will be able to share latest traffic incidents such as accidents and roadwork. The proposed solution aims to help people to make the right decisions between alternative routes. The prototype developed was evaluated in a survey among 182 smart phone users and the results show that the most of the participants (72%) reveal a very positive attitude towards the solution and accept it as a desirable tool as a remedy for daily traffic problems.","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"11 9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124237063","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Most previous work has solved the problem either by using discretization, normal method or kernel method. This study proposes the usage of different continuous probability distribution techniques for Naive Bayes classification. It explores various probability density functions of distributions. The experimental results show that the proposed probability distributions also classify continuous data with potentially high accuracy. In addition, this paper introduces a novel method, named NBC4D, which offers a new approach for classification by applying different distribution types on different attributes. The results (obtained classification accuracy rates) show that our proposed method (the usage of more than one distribution types) has success on real-world datasets when compared with the usage of only one well known distribution type.","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"105 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"124755426","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

We use the multi-agent paradigm to model the proposed distributed system. In this system, an agent, which plays several roles, is situated on each node of the net. The first role of an agent is to perform the work of a local intrusion detection system (IDS). Periodically, it proceeds to exchange security data within its local neighbouring. The agent neighbouring consists of IDS agents of local neighbour nodes. The goal of such an approach is to consolidate the decision, regarding every suspected security event. Unlike previous works having proposed distributed systems for intrusion detection, our system is not restricted to data sharing. It proceeds in the case of a conflict to a negotiation between neighbouring agents in order to produce a consensual decision. So, the proposed system is fully distributed. It does not require any central or hierarchical control, which compromises its scalability, specially in wide area networks such as Internet. Indeed, in this kind of networks, some attacks like distributed denial of service (DDoS) require fully distributed defence. Experiments on our system show its potential for satisfactory DDoS attack detection.","PeriodicalId":339652,"journal":{"name":"2014 IEEE International Symposium on Innovations in Intelligent Systems and Applications (INISTA) Proceedings","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2014-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125049597","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
