However, the influence of right and left lateral decubitus positions (RLDP and LLDP, respectively) on sleep parameters is relatively unknown and has not been well investigated. This study was performed to verify the associations between sleep parameters and lateral decubitus sleep position.

Methods: A retrospective study was performed on 38 patients who were diagnosed with OSA and underwent surgical interventions from January 2014 to December 2016. Preoperative sleep parameters were evaluated with WatchPAT, and patients who slept sufficiently in both RLDP and LLDP to accurately analyze sleep parameters were enrolled in the study. RAR reactivity was also observed in the NE group, which indicates that cell regeneration also occurs in normal condition. Through IHC, we found the localization of RAR. RAR-α was distributed in the epithelial cells, submucosal glands, and endothelial cells. RAR-β was located in the basal epithelium, while RAR-γ was present in goblet cells and submucosal glands. The staining intensity of RAR-α, β and γ was higher than that in the NE group. Especially in the P group, RARs were abundantly distributed in the stalks of polyps.

Conclusion: The stalk region contains a lot of collagen and fibroblasts to support polyp formation, and the greater amount of RAR in the stalk suggested that RARs may be associated with angiogenesis and cell proliferation. We describe a modification of this method in a patient diagnosed with inverted papilloma for which he had undergone two previous operations. This method provides complete access to the maxillary sinus, particularly the anterior wall, to provide adequate reach and ensure complete removal of tumours. We describe a technique modifying the existing transseptal approach used as an adjunct to prelacrimal recess approach, wherein a hemitransfixation incision placed in the contralateral nasal cavity along the septum provides access to the maxillary sinus with angled instruments. This modified transseptal approach provided better reach and access to the maxillary sinus. Postoperatively, there was no evidence of septal scarring or perforation and no evidence of lesion recurrence. Our technique is an easy modification to the transseptal approach that is a useful tool to access hidden areas of the maxillary sinus without associated morbidity.
","PeriodicalId":33935,"journal":{"name":"Journal of Rhinology","volume":" ","pages":"43-47"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-03-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC11524385/pdf/","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43760899","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"OA","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
