Both single-hop and multi-hop transmissions with cooperative Multi-Input Single-Output (MISO) scheme are considered for inter-cluster communications. The effects of cluster size in the energy consumption of intra-cluster communication and the amount of fused data are included in calculation. As a result, the dominant factors of the maximal network lifetimes are listed as: the cluster farthest from base station in single-hop transmission and the closest cluster in multi-hop transmission. In addition, the maximal network lifetimes of single-hop and multi-hop transmissions are compared and it is found that there exists a threshold of network size that determines which transmission is the better candidate.","PeriodicalId":339151,"journal":{"name":"2010 Sixth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115431452","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important issues in WSN is covering the region. So, the presented strategy should be able to cover all over the region by using lowest amount of sensor nodes. It is not always necessary that all the network nodes to be turning on, so by using a suitable algorithm, network nodes can be divided into some groups and each group will be in charge of covering its corresponding part of the region by turn on some nodes in some time slices such that full coverage is guaranty. In this paper, we propose a new idea that uses grouping and time scheduling for sensor nodes for turning them on to cover area. According to this method sensing range of all the nodes aren't always same, and it is depending to their remained energy. Cluster head denotes the sensing range and also turn on time slice of each node by considering its remained energy and position. Using the mentioned algorithm leads to energy efficiency for better coverage; consequently it is increasing in network life.","PeriodicalId":339151,"journal":{"name":"2010 Sixth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"2 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122672181","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

But fixed listen/sleep scheme also introduces additional latency in packet delivery and waste of energy for unnecessary idle listening. In this paper, we propose a low latency and energy efficient MAC protocol with an adaptive listen/sleep mechanism, named ALLEE-MAC. Two novel schemes are introduced, one is continual data transmission scheme and the other is early-sleep scheme. For achieving these schemes, a cross-layer design approach is adopted in ALLEE-MAC. Simulations have been done to evaluate the performance of the proposed new protocol, by which we can find out that ALLEE-MAC can really reduce packet end-to-end delay and energy consumption compared with S-MAC/AL.","PeriodicalId":339151,"journal":{"name":"2010 Sixth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121159791","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

An OCDM-based multigranularity optical cross-connect is used to enable and convert the optical path switching in bandwidth granularity finer than the wavelength-based path. Such an optical path switched by OCDM-based MG-OXC is capable of hybrid optical code/wavelength conversion along the path from a source to destination. Simulation results indicate that increasing the number of optical codes per wavelength and applying optical code conversion considerably decreases the burst blocking probability and latency, and also increases network throughput. In addition, the results show the advantages of are using sparse-partial optical code conversion architecture in WDM/OCDM OBS network.","PeriodicalId":339151,"journal":{"name":"2010 Sixth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"28 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121616499","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Such method is available for premium customers and consists in traffic duplication by two different paths, in order to prevent informational link from failure. In this article, is presented the influence of this mechanism on the quality of service (QoS). The metrics which we refer are the average and standard deviation of transfer delay of one MPLS network flow. We considered that the delays in those two LSPs (Label Switched Path) paths are jointly distributed with normal random variables with a certain degree of correlations and a certain ratio between the path’s delay averages, respective standard deviations.","PeriodicalId":339151,"journal":{"name":"2010 Sixth Advanced International Conference on Telecommunications","volume":"215 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2010-05-09","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125627832","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Variable Step-Size (VSS) normalized least mean square (VSSNLMS) and VSS Affine Projection Algorithms (VSSAPA) are two particular examples of the adaptive algorithms that can be covered by this generic adaptive filter. In this paper, we introduce a new VSS Partial Rank (VSSPR) adaptive algorithm based on the generic VSS adaptive filter and use it for channel equalization. Awareness means being informed, in conjunction with an understanding of activities, states and relationships of each individual within a given group as a whole. In multifarious offices, where social interaction is necessary in order to share and locate essential information, awareness becomes a concurrent process that amplifies the exigency of easy routes for personnel to be able to access this information, deferred or decentralized, in a formalized and context-sensitive way. Although the subject of awareness has immensely grown in importance, there is extensive disagreement about how this transparency can be conceptually and technically implemented.
