Data collection took place through interviews with fishermen associated and not associated with the Z-9 colony of the Baia do Sol community, from April to October 2022, using semi-structured questionnaires to assist in data collection. In the study, 30 artisanal fishermen were interviewed, most of them male, using snowball sampling. The results indicate that the artisanal fishing practiced in Baia do Sol has the gill net as the main fishing gear. Fishing is carried out in boats called rowing boats, made of wood. Fishing areas cover some locations around Mosqueiro Island, extending to the Northeast of Pará. In addition, it was found that the commercialization of fish is carried out, primarily, at the local level.","PeriodicalId":338824,"journal":{"name":"ACTA OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESSOURCES","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129176101","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Gutted and ticked specimens of this fish were subjected to milling to produce minced fish, whose portions were separated into unwashed and washed. These portions were mixed with several ingredients, formatted and frozen. The frozen kibbehs were separated into three treatments: raw (control), subjected to frying in hot oil and the other, to the electric fryer without oil. All were analyzed for total lipid content (cold extraction method). The results were statically analyzed and compared. When raw or fried in an air fryer, fish kibbeh is less “fat” than meat kibbeh, being indicated as an alternative for individuals seeking a healthier diet. For the consumption of raw kibbeh, fish are more suitable than meat, as it has fewer total lipids the more washes are used in the washing process. However, the more washings of the minced meat occur and the fewer total lipids in the raw kibbeh, the greater will be the lipid increment after frying in hot oil, indicating that this method is inconvenient for the preparation. Therefore, fish kibbeh remains a healthy food alternative for humans if they are eaten raw or fried in an air fryer.","PeriodicalId":338824,"journal":{"name":"ACTA OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESSOURCES","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"133267323","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This fishing resource, important for the fishing communities in the Brazilian Northeast, generates employment and income for many artisanal fisherwomen (marisqueiras). Yet, the production of “catado” is carried out in a rudimentary way, as for instance in comunidade Preguiça (a municipality of Indiaroba), a typical fishing community on the Sergipe coast. Therefore, a survey was carried out for the preparation of a participatory diagnosis in order to identify the stages of the process, from the preparation of the marisqueiras for the capture to the realization of the \"catado,\" and the problems related to the processing that compromise the end product quality. Some steps were proposed, such as improving hygiene during the preparation and the use of vacuum packaging, with its own logo, in order to identify the “catado” of aratu processed in that community.","PeriodicalId":338824,"journal":{"name":"ACTA OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESSOURCES","volume":"8 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"127143196","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the species, the smoothtail spiny lobster Panulirus laevicauda (Latreille, 1817) had its distribution demarcated from Amapá to Santa Catarina State, but it was dubiously recorded in northern coast from industrial fishing samples, without collected material or photographs for taxonomic identification. Based on this, we report the occurrence of P. laevicauda in the northern region of Brazil (Amapá State) through material collected. The male specimen was collected on November 07th, 2022, at the depth of 84.5m, during commercial fishery operations of the red snapper Lutjanus purpureus (Poey, 1866), at the area of the Great Amazon Reef System (GARS) (04°45’29.849”N; 050°39’41.567”W). The current record confirms the occurrence of the species in Northern Brazil and it is the first report for the GARS.","PeriodicalId":338824,"journal":{"name":"ACTA OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESSOURCES","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125831106","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

For that, morphometric relationships were performed between the external measures of the shell (length, width and height) and the wet biomass of 51 individuals collected in October 2015. The results indicate that the morphometric and biomorphometric relationships of the mollusk are classified as “extremely strong and positive”. Relationships involving A. papyraceum shell width were classified by negative allometry, which indicates that this morphometric measure grows at a higher rate than the others. It is noteworthy that the density index of A. papyraceum increases proportionally with the growth of the species. This difference in yield probably comes from the gonadal maturation of the individuals, which causes the gonads to increase in size. The information presented here will subsidize further research involving the population dynamics of the species.","PeriodicalId":338824,"journal":{"name":"ACTA OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESSOURCES","volume":"25 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122918043","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
