Abstract
A new record of the red lionfish Pterois volitans is related to the Amazon River plume. The specimen examined is an adult male, total length 34 cm and weight 620g, caught at june 4th, 2022, by artisanal multispecies fishery, with gillnet at Amapá State, next to Cabo Orange National Park, 04°03’02,67 N 050°56’11,22W, depth of 10 m, in soft bottom (sand and mud). The record expands the geographical distribution of P. volitans, in shallow and low-salinity waters of the Amazon continental shelf.
