Due to the wide span of the eigenvalues, the simulation of these circuits is extremely slow. This problem is mitigated by implementing the proposed framework. The idea is to approximate the dynamics of the original stiff system with a reduced order system by taking into account the dominant modes of the system only. The proposed method is demonstrated on a high-fidelity DC-DC buck-boost converter. Significant improvements in simulation speed and reduction in the size of the solution array are achieved.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"43 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"116101344","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Prior papers have all assumed that the control input to velocity relationship is a passive system. In this paper we show that passivity is not necessary. We provide a class of linear time invariant (LTI) input to velocity models for which a stable control law can be formulated, provide such a law and prove its local stability.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"40 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126862292","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In a price-coupling game, there is a part of the objective function of a player which has an identical form for all players. Also, there is coupling in the cost functions of players through a price which is determined uniformly for all players by an independent entity called the price-determining player (e.g. independent system operator (ISO) in an electricity market). This price appears in the objective function only in the part which is identical for all players. We study the existence of equilibria in such games under two broad categories, namely price-anticipative and price-taking formulations. In the price-anticipative formulation, the players anticipate the price and make their decisions while in the price-taking formulation, the players make their decisions considering the price as a given parameter. We model the price-anticipative case as a leader-follower formulation where the players (leaders) conjecture the price (follower's decision) and make their decision. The price-taking formulation is modelled as an N+1 player game with the additional player as the price-determining player. The existence of an equilibrium in such games are not easy mainly because of the coupled-constraint structure of the game and the non-convexity of the action set. We give conditions for the existence of equilibria in both formulations.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"111 3","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"113980744","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Continuous time SMC is used as a robust control methodology which is digitally implemented through a computer. Further, the communication delay in the network is modeled in the form of a zero order hold (ZOH) acting in the control loop. Simulation is done by taking different hold times of the ZOH with the SMC designed as per the traditional Gao's reaching law technique and the recently developed band approach technique. The results show both qualitative and quantitatively that the control designed using the new band approach method gives better performance in the networked control approach to control the angular position of a DC motor.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"70 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125441141","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proposed extension is bounded with an assumption that the maximum delay does not exceed unit sampling time which is alternatively called as one step delayed measurements in this paper. The proposed method which uses third-degree spherical cubature rule and arbitrary order Gauss-Laguerre quadrature rule to solve the intractable integrals is more accurate compared to its existing cubature Kalman filter (CKF) based counterpart. Continuous thrust equations of relative motion in the orbit of Earth are used to form the optimal control problem for minimizing the overall control input. A minimum safe distance has been used as the constraint on the optimal solution so as to avoid any collision between the target and the maneuvering spacecraft. Further, to make the problem realistic the optimal control input has been constrained to predefined feasible limits of available specific thrust. The optimal control problem is then transformed to a non-linear programming problem using the multiple-interval pseudospectral method and the reformulated problem is then solved using sequential quadratic programming. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, numerical examples have been presented.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"26 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122081338","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This inverse response can occur because of a step change either in a load variable or a manipulated variable. In this paper inverse response due to a load variable is considered for a reactive distillation column carrying an esterification reaction. A feedforward-feedback controller is designed to eliminate the effect of inverse response in the process. We use this representation to obtain the global dynamics of a spherical robot with three independent internal rotors rolling on a plane. The robot is subjected to nonholonomic constraints arising out of pure rolling motion. The dynamics of the system is obtained by projecting the kinematic vector fields on the constrained distribution using the nonholonomic affine connection. The rotor torques are incorporated into the dynamics by way of the total angular momentum of the robot about the point of contact.","PeriodicalId":338695,"journal":{"name":"2018 Indian Control Conference (ICC)","volume":"6 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"1900-01-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128285898","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
