Визначено, що крупні за розміром частинки The paper presents a method of obtaining and further study of a complex master-alloy, based on aluminum, which contains a total 20 %wt. of modifying components – titanium and zirconium. The master-alloy was obtained under the conditions of electron beam casting technology by gradual fusion of metal components and subsequent casting in the mold under vacuum conditions. The obtained master-alloy is characterized by an inhomogeneous coarse-grained structure. Intermetallic phases Al 3 (Ti, Zr) are characterized by a tetragonal structure of the crystal lattice and occupy 50 % vol. of the resulting master-alloy. In the composition of intermetallics, zirconium replaces about 25 % of titanium. Modification of AlSi 5 Cu 4 alloy by the obtained master-alloy showed that the modifying phase Al 3 (Ti, Zr) is able to decompose and dissolve in melts of such alloys and per- forms its germinating and grain-refinement function. In this case, in the rapidly crystallized sample of the modified alloy, the solid solution based on aluminum contains only titanium and a small amount of copper, and in the crystallized – slowly con- tains both titanium and zirconium. The grain sizes of the primary solid solution based on aluminum in both samples can be estimated as the same. Titanium is also present in small amounts in iron-containing Al 5 SiFe needle-like phases. Zirconium is found mostly in eutectic zones, which contain both silicon and copper-enriched zones. Wider and uniform zones of eutectic are observed in the sample, crystallized with slow speed. It is determined that large particles of the modifying phase during the staying in a melt can be partially dissolved, giving part of the titanium and simultaneously react with silicon, forming more refractory intermetallic particles Al 4 (Ti, Zr) 3 Si 5 . Kryachko","doi":"10.15407/steelcast2021.02.017","DOIUrl":"https://doi.org/10.15407/steelcast2021.02.017","url":null,"abstract":"The article analyzes the suitability of the known operating criteria of the blast-furnace operation for assessing the influence of the iron receiver thermal state on gas dynamics of the process and the characteristics of smelting products. The operation of two blast furnaces with the volume of 1500 and 1386 m 3 in different periods from 2015 to 2020 was investigated. Taking into account the dependence of the degree of silicon reduction and gas dynamic processes on the pressure in the working space of the furnace, the choice of the studied periods was carried out proceeding from the condition of fluctuations in the gas pres- sure on the furnace top within the limits not exceeding 5 kPa. It has been confirmed that the ratio of the theoretical temperature of combustion and the temperature of cast iron at the outlet, as well as the difference of these temperatures, can be used as indicators of the thermal state of the iron receiver, such as those that, firstly, are directly related to the bottom of the blast furnace and, secondly, they have a fairly close connection with the derivatives of the process, namely, gas dynamics and properties of smelting products. It was found that the use of the Т T /t i ratio has an advantage, since it has a closer relationship with the parameters of the blast furnace process than the difference between the above temperatures. The data showing the advantage of the T T /t i criterion in comparison with the theoretical combustion temperature for the operational control of the thermal state of the iron receiver (hearth) are shown. It has been established that, depending on the state of the furnace, raw material and operating conditions, and the range of change in Т T /t i , an increase in the latter ratio can affect the lower pressure drop in different ways. It is shown that with an increase in the value of the criterion Т T /t i , the temperature of the cast iron decreases. It is explained how the blast mode, estimated by the theoretical combustion temperature, affect the formation of the final slag and pig iron at the outlet, namely through the competitive development of endothermic reactions of direct reduction and desulfuriza-tion of pig iron. In contrast to the dependencies of the temperature of cast iron on changes in the criterion Т T /t i , no significant relationship was found between this criterion and the silicon content in cast iron [Si]. It is established that the difference between the results obtained by numerical simulations and engineering methods does not exceed 7 %. The paper presents the results of the analysis of the relationships between the design of the furnace and the parameters of the furnace gas flow with the gas-dynamic mode of operation of the blast furnace and the path of \"dirty\" gas from the furnace to the dust collector. The gas-dynamic calculation is made and the estimation of change of a design of insertion of flues in a furnace dome taking into account necessity of installation on it сoneless loading device is given. The heat-gas-dynamic calculation is realized and the influence of change of gas-dynamic parameters of gas flow and cross-sectional area of flues on change of pressure losses, speed and temperature difference of blast furnace gas in its path from furnace to dust collector is determined.
