The incidences of violence during elections in Nigeria have resulted in the loss of lives and posed a threat to electoral participation and political stability. The study surveyed the perceptions of Nigerians on the effect of violence on the participation of eligible voters in the Nigerian electoral process. It attempts to ascertain the cause of the low turnout of voters in the 2019 general elections. The study adopted the survey research design and used data from 1,200 respondents selected from six local government areas representing the six geo-political zones. Simple percentages and Chi-Square statistical techniques were employed to test and determine the degree of association intrinsic to the stated hypotheses. The findings from the study show a positive relationship between violence and alienation. Thus, political violence perpetrated by political opponents and parties (among others) during elections results in the alienation of voters from the electoral process. Consequently, it is opined that the federal and state governments should put on modalities to mitigate the incidence of violence during elections. Also, perpetrators of electoral violence should be prosecuted and sanctioned accordingly.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"10 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"132890075","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Benefits for retirees have piqued the interest of policymakers and experts worldwide. Numerous articles have been written to assess Nigeria's previous pension system, the reasons for its failure, the shortcomings of the new pension system, and the influence of both the old and new pension systems on pensioners' wellbeing in Nigeria. Nonetheless, no study exists in Nigeria on the effect of delayed gratuity and pension payments on post-retirement situations. To close this divide, this study explores the effect of delayed gratuity and pension payments on retirees' willingness to keep their current position in Nigeria. This study analyzed secondary data obtained from published and unpublished books, journal articles, and online sources. It used content analysis to determine the relevance of the material collected to the study's scope. The study shows that delayed gratuity and pension payments contribute to pensioners' diminishing status, deteriorating health, and premature mortality shortly after retirement. The study consequently suggests that both public and private employers of labor do regular pre-retirement training for their employees to avoid the shame of seeing their retirees become penniless on the streets or succumb to an early death shortly after retirement.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"115326545","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Considering this prevalence, the study aimed to determine the effects of the collaborative learning action cell (CLAC) mentoring program on the self-efficacy of the out-of-field Senior High School (SHS) teachers of New Lucena National Comprehensive High School during the second semester of the academic year 2018-2019. This action research utilized an experimental method specifically, the one-group pretest-posttest design. The participants of this study were the purposively selected 12 out-of-field SHS teachers. The research instrument adopted was the Ohio State teacher efficacy scale (OSTES) to capture a broad range of capabilities necessary for good teaching. The results of the study revealed that the level of self-efficacy of the out-of-field SHS teachers is \"low\" prior to the intervention and \"high\" level after exposure. Furthermore, the teachers' self-efficacy level significantly increased after exposure to the program. Thus, the CLAC mentoring program is an alternative program to increase the level of self-efficacy of the out-of-field SHS teachers. The research study calls for the importance of formulating a school-initiated intervention that will guide efforts to assist out-of-field teachers.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"18 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"126709408","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

According to the findings of the study, India and Pakistan have rejected the first two options of formal partition and autonomy, but the third option, an independent state, will remain the most viable option for the foreseeable future because neither India nor Pakistan can rule the entire region of Kashmir. As a result, the emergence of an independent state in Asia is considered a legitimate, negotiated solution to the Kashmir dispute. It is asserted here that as long as both India and Pakistan maintain their historically defensive positions, there is little hope for long-term peace in Kashmir. The study further contends that Kashmir's independence is the only way to ensure a long-term settlement to the Kashmir dispute as well as regional peace in Southeast Asia.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"16 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-07-25","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114187061","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Competition increases the value of digital marketing in the banking sector; however, it also makes it more difficult to stand out in the disruption and uncertainty caused by the COVID-19 outbreak. Realizing the fact that the website has become mainstream in corporate marketing, this research investigates the practice of marketing by the largest and strongest 11 Islamic banks globally listed by the Asian Banker (2019). Information on visual elements, product features, and post locations related to corona safety precaution information was extracted from bank web pages. With that, also followed the post related to option of an opening online account and digital channel safety concern during COVID-19. Furthermore noticed on the bank webpage about the government funding for Corona activities and financial assistance to SMEs. The findings of this research suggest that in any crisis and fluid situation, where uncertainty existence is likely to be high, Islamic banks must be prepared to alter web-interface communication approaches and marketing strategies to reach their customers. To stay afloat in a highly competitive digital world, banks can advertise relevant product offerings during the Coronavirus crisis. Navigation and accessibility related to Coronavirus information on the website should be straightforward, highlight socially responsible activities, focus on customers with financial difficulty, and use differentiated and personalized banking services. Customers will regard such initiative and perceive their bank brand as compassionate, kind, and unpretentious.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128537016","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Survey Research Design was employed during data collection, within a sample of 300 respondents, who were obtained through purposive sampling technique. Questionnaires were distributed to 290 students because they live with/among the addicted students; while interviews were also done to 10 students and lecturers because they have clear details concerning the addicted student, who have encountered hindrances on academic matters due to alcoholism. The obtained data are presented in tables, showing frequencies and percentages of each item, while others are explained as theories, concepts and views. For those cases, alcoholism among university students has been proven to be accompanied with unsafe sexual practices, which results into unwanted pregnancies and STDs like gonorrhea, syphilis, UTI, HIV/AIDS, etc. Due to alcoholism, most of students have been involved in accidents and injuries, which make them ill and not attend lectures. Some have developed kinds of aggressive behaviors that makes them indiscipline and violent. Such factors hinder their academic prosperity due to failing in exams, attaining low GPAs, prosponding the semester(s) due to financial crisis after squandering school fees, and being incompetent within their profession. Then if so, universities should set strategies and techniques in order to educate the fresh year students who have not been addicted. Rehabilitation counselling should take part to eliminate alcohol dependency on their students. And lecturers should use professional skills to ensure all students attend lectures.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"36 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114251593","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It also analysed how the teaching workload adversities affect the teachers’ teaching performance in terms of assigned classes and school-related activities, and teacher well-being in terms of teaching activities, non-teaching activities, and well-being. Resilience was determined using the Adversity Response Profile (ARP) developed by Dr. Paul Stoltz, the proponent of Adversity Quotient. Findings showed that the mean of respondents’ ARP is Below Average. This in addition to heavy and challenging teaching workloads has negative impacts on the teachers’ teaching performance and well-being. The study provides implications not only to its subjects but to all stakeholders of an educational institution. It signifies the importance of resilience or the ability to bounce back from adversities in life. Now that the COVID-19 pandemic persists, having resilience is a must especially for teachers. Thus, it calls for a more administrative support by providing the ways and means to help develop and strengthen the teachers’ resilience especially in this time of pandemic.","PeriodicalId":337729,"journal":{"name":"Indonesian Journal of Social Sciences","volume":"20 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2022-06-23","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"114485194","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
