Os trabalhos de Eric Kandel, Elie Wiesel, Elizabeth Loftus, Jan Assman, Hayden White, Michael Roth, Paul Ricoeur, Richard Kearney e Saul Friedländer contribuíram para enriquecer o diálogo sobre as éticas e políticas do tema da memória na sociedade. Um dos aspectos proeminentes envolvendo as Memórias de Pedro Nava nos domínios da arte e da literatura é a recriação do projeto mnemônico de Marcel Proust. Este ensaio pretende abordar o uso das artes por Nava ao compor perfis biográficos, imagens e cenas do passado, a fim de discutir como tais referências constituiriam um memorial estético em Baú de ossos (1972).","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"47031370","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Esta perspectiva está situada no contexto do pensamento do autor dinamarquês Søren Kierkegaard (1813–1855), tendo em vista o confronto filosófico entre entendimento conceitual e conhecimento experiencial, pensamento e existência. A noção intitulada cena prístina, compreendida como campo existencial da investigação estética, é interpelada a partir de três tópicos centrais: a escrita, a leitura e o dizer (Bajard 2005), práticas fundadas na contradição entre as instâncias da imediatidade e da linguagem.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-20","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48949385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The selected corpus comprises 68 articles from mainstream English language media, namely the newspapers The Financial Times, The Guardian, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and the economics magazine The Economist. The theoretical framework draws on the Bakhtinian notions of polyphony and heteroglossia, as well as on Gramsci's theory of hegemony. It thus juxtaposes and interprets the different voices and conflicting meanings within crisis discourses, relating them to issues of power and ideology. The Conclusion shows that despite rhetorical diversity, common politically contingent voices were identified which underpin the discourses dominating the crisis narrations in these two economically and geographically distant countries of the European Union.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-19","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"44738385","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

As the relations between China and the Portuguese-speaking countries developed, translations between the two languages have flourished, particularly in literature. It is important to note that, in this domain, direct translation as well as indirect translation has been active options. Translation via a third language has been a frequent method used by Portuguese-Chinese translators – not only in the early days of their burgeoning contact but also well into the twentieth-first century. This paper analyses the translation of the novella O Assassino, which fictions the assassination of the Portuguese Governor Ferreira do Amaral in Macau. The story was originally written in Chinese, then translated into English and then into Portuguese. It happens that the Portuguese version was translated via the English. The aim of this article is to analyze both versions from a comparative perspective and to discuss the translation of culture-specific concepts in the indirect translation context.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"45256865","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Thus, a foreigner in the process of learning Portuguese FL/2L will eventually come into contact with this style of Brazilian social practice. The concept of ‘jeitinho’, however, shows different forms of representation in discourse. Our aim with this work is to approach such concept from a more accurate analysis that moves away from a simplistic discourse, which associates the jeitinho to the image of a Brazilian who seeks to take advantage of everything. In this process, we reviewed the literature that approaches this concept based on analyzes from the Social Sciences, with emphasis on the studies of Barbosa (2006) and Borges (2006). As a possible material to be inserted in a context of teaching Portuguese for foreigners, we chose the reading and analysis of the Brazilian literary chronicle “Dar um jeitinho”. The analysis of chronicles was carried out from the perspective of discursive semiotics, aiming to search for meanings that are related to the concept of jeitinho.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43091554","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Speech data were collected from six L1 Spanish speakers who had been living in Brazil for less than twelve months. From the recordings and manipulations of different degrees of voicing in the fricatives (0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% of the total duration of the fricative), an identification task was built on TP Software (Rauber et al. 2012). Thirty-five Brazilian participants did this task. The results indicate that voicing the consonant all the way through was not a necessary condition for the identification of the fricative as voiced. It was also verified that the pattern with voicing throughout 25% of the fricative proved more difficult to identify. Both the inferential analysis and the verification of the data produced by each individual participant showed that this latter pattern cannot be considered to be voiceless in all cases.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"43055497","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The term ‘Angolanism’ is used to refer to all the lexical units used in the Portuguese Language, and belonging to the Bantu languages. We have applied a reverse search technique in order to collect the Angolanisms with the following tags: to extract the Umbundo units; for the units of the Quicongo language and for the Quimbundo units. The tag was used to identify the lexical units which do not belong to the chosen languages, despite their occurrence in the lexicon of the Portuguese spoken in Angola. The extraction of Angolanisms through these tags allowed us to group them according to their origin. Additionally, the presence of Angolanisms in the CDPL, in the most representative language was analyzed, as well as its causes and consequences. The provision of the entries into the named Dictionary and the possible negative connotations in their use have also been considered in our research.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":" ","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"48810951","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

It is considerable the number of Senegalese in Rio Grande, RS, creating a demand for the teaching of Portuguese as a host language to immigrants. This paper results from reflections on a university extension project to promote the integration of these people in the local culture through Portuguese learning/ teaching. This project was also aimed at offering linguistic grounds for social interaction in Portuguese; providing contact with work-related text genres; and improving reading competences in texts addressing work and daily life. Thus, theoretical background from Interactional Sociolinguistics (Gumperz 1982) and Cultural Anthropology (Matta 2001) have been considered here. From the pedagogical point of view, this work was based upon the Task-based Approach (Janowska 2014; Willis 1996) has been chosen to solve specific needs of the group. In general, it was easy for the students to learn new words, but they showed some difficulties on the phonetic and phonological levels, such as distinguishing /z/ from /ʒ/; /s/ from /ʃ/; /l/ from /ʎ/. As to social impact, this project helped some students find formal jobs.","PeriodicalId":33760,"journal":{"name":"Diacritica","volume":"20 4","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-07-03","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"41295847","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
