Mobile cloud computing services (MCCS) has incited an innovative surge of advancement in the fast emerging pervasive computing. Although a number of studies have been carried out in the area of mobile technology, the subject of the readiness of the mobile operating systems, such as Android, IOS and Windows Mobile in MCCS is immensely being unexplored. Challenges and architecture for a suitable MCCS have been defined in this paper. It goes to develop criteria to measure the various Mobile Operating System (MOS) offerings to identify the additional features that should be implemented on MOS to enable and/or enhance that efficient MCCS. This paper also analyses the readiness of MOS to meet the challenges of offering these MCCSs. An in-depth study of the current requirements and challenges are identified, hence criteria is formed that is used to compare these current Smartphone MOS. This paper concludes that mobile virtualisation and security needs to be explored by MOS providers in order to enhance license IP separation, portability, reliability, security, and the consolidation of hardware amongst Smartphones, mobile network operators and MCCS providers. This will aid widening the scope for defining Smartphones as the CCS platform.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"130806795","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

This is because WSNs are susceptible to various types of attacks or to node compromises that exploit known and unknown vulnerabilities of protocols, software and hardware, and threaten the security, integrity, authenticity, and availability of data that resides in these networked systems. While various security mechanisms have been proposed for these networks dealing with either MAC layer or network layer security issues, or key management problems, the security benefits that can be obtained from an upper visualization layer have not been adequately considered in their design. In this paper, we explore the issues and concerns surrounding the application of visual analysis for wireless sensor network security purposes. This paper focuses on several distinct advantages information visualization and visual analytics can offer in the security domain. In addition, this paper reviews security visualization tools that are available to network security analysts. Finally, it concludes by identifying challenges for this new area of research.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"17 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"128743207","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

In order to reduce errors in the event detection, collaborative event detection was introduced. This paper presents a stochastic model of collaborative event detection in presence of uncertainties caused by measurement noise at sensors and unreliable network. The model allows analysis of event detection accuracy in WSNs as well as synthesis of WSNs with set accuracy targets. An optimal stopping retry mechanism for the event detector is developed from the model. Simulation shows that the retry mechanism reduces probability of false alarms by 35 to 40% with a minimal transport overhead.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"208 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"122611971","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The proximity is determined for CSG or hybrid cells whose CSG Identity (CSG ID) is in the UE's CSG whitelist. The UE sends an “entering” or “leaving” proximity indication to the Serving Radio Network Controller (SRNC) whenever it is entering or leaving respectively the proximity of one or more such cells. This helps the network to take the necessary actions for handover preparation viz. configure or take away handover measurements at the UE. The proximity detection feature is based on UE implementation and this paper proposes a macro cell based fingerprint method for proximity detection. This method offers reliable triggering of proximity indication but may not be very precise. Additionally an enhanced method is proposed using the out-of-band (OOB) radio integrated with the Home NodeB (HNB). In the enhanced method, OOB equipped UEs start searching for the HNB over the OOB link when the macro cell based fingerprint match occurs and “entering” proximity indication is sent only after the HNB is detected over the OOB link. The enhanced method offers higher precision and better network performance due to less measurement gaps being configured.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"1 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"125809012","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The commonly used sensor equipment provides the position of target in polar coordinates i.e. in range and azimuth (or bearing) angle with respect to the sensor location. The use of simple Kalman filter increases the error in this case. For more accurate tracking, the Converted Measurement Kalman filter (CMKF) is used which can account for the inaccuracies in tracking using polar coordinates. Simulations were performed tracking the target with CMKF. It does not proffer well in missed detection and false alarm scenarios. So the tracking was improved by associating Global nearest Neighbour algorithm (GNN) algorithm with the CMKF. Later the simulations depict the inconsistency of GNN based CMKF in a dense missed detection and false alarm scenarios. So an improved algorithm in track estimation is used to solve the dense missed detections or continuous false alarm problem. Thus, through simulation, it was realized that GNN based improved CMKF is able to give a better tracking. Finally Wiener filtering is used to smoothen the tracking.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"37 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"129534960","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The first model describes the traditional averaged phase picking method based on counting the edges in several domains, which divide the signal period. The second model was developed for a newly proposed CDR circuit, which selects the optimum sampling phase upon the occurrence of several consecutive edges in one sampling domain. Its simulation model is based on the periodic Markov chain representation of the domain-selection process. The averaged Bit-Error Rate can be simply computed from the steady-state of the chain. The computational complexity of statistical models is determined by the added jitter properties rather than by the actual level of bit-error rate. The models include random jitter, sinusoidal jitter, and frequency offset of transmit and receive clocks.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"9 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"121252084","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

One of the most important challenges in CR networks is how to sense the existence of a signal transmission. Thus, detecting the existence of the primary users (PUs), which is called spectrum sensing, is a fundamental task in CRs. In a conventional single threshold energy detection scheme, the higher the probability of detection, the better the PUs are protected, however; it gives higher probability of false alarm which means less chances the channel can be reused when it is available. This paper is concerned with the analysis of the secondary users' (SUs) achievable throughput with joint optimal number of sensing rounds and sensing threshold in a double-threshold sensing scheme. An iterative algorithm is proposed to obtain the optimal values of the sensing time and second detection threshold. The results show that significant improvement in the throughput of the SUs is achieved when the parameters for the number of sensing rounds and the sensing threshold are jointly optimized.","PeriodicalId":337446,"journal":{"name":"2012 IV International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems","volume":"4 1","pages":"0"},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2012-10-01","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"117277088","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}
