One of the LAB is the genus Lactobacillus which consists of many species used for fermentation and food preservation. This study was conducted to isolate and identify the LAB of the genus Lactobacillus from the faeces of wild Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) at the Suaq Belimbing Research Station in South Aceh. Bacterial isolation was carried out using Man Rogosa Sharpe Agar (MRSA). Colonies that grew on MRSA media were observed for morphology and were Gram stained. Biochemical tests were conducted using KIT API 50 CHL. Data analysis used the Apiweb computer program Version V-5.2. The results showed that the OUL isolate was a species of Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp delbrueckii, with an identity of 93.8%. Based on this, it can be concluded that there is a Lactic Acid Bacteria of the Lactobacillus in the faeces of wild Sumatran Orangutan (Pongo abelii) at the Suaq Belimbing Research Station in South Aceh.","PeriodicalId":33660,"journal":{"name":"Biotik Jurnal Ilmiah Biologi Teknologi dan Kependidikan","volume":"1 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"74558116","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The aim of the study was to find out whether the use of Papain can improve the quality of color, texture, pH and taste of nata de coco. The study used a complete factorial randomized design, with the concentration of papaya and papaya sap was 5 mL/L, 10 mL/L, 20 m/L, 30 mL/L, 50 mL/L. In ANAVA, the treatment showed a significant effect of papaya juice and papaya sap on nata de coco quality (Papaya juice (26,989) > Ftable (2,61); α = 0,05 and Papaya sap (122,542) > Ftable (2,61); α = 0,05. The treatment has no significant effect to the color, but it increased the pH of nata de coco to 6-7, and the structure of nata de coco became less chewy. However, although the organoleptic test does not affect the taste of nata de coco, respondents still prefer nata de coco without treatment because it has no trace of papaya and papaya sap smell. Therefore, this study needs further research to get more information about the taste.","PeriodicalId":33660,"journal":{"name":"Biotik Jurnal Ilmiah Biologi Teknologi dan Kependidikan","volume":"16 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"85273265","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

The termites were collected with Finding Colony method, while the identification of the termite types and data analysis was conducted in Zoology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Syiah Kuala University. The results found 3 types of termite nests, i.e., (1) arboreal mounds type (N. roboratus, N. matangensis, H. bicolor and N. neoparvus) as an attempt to disguise themselves and protect their colonies from predators; (2) wood nesting type (N. havilandi, N. proatripennis, H. hospitalis, B. neopusillus, L. leucops, and Aciculitermes sp.1) that is built using drywood to form ventilation space between nests, so the nests become sturdier; and (3) subterraneannest type (L. longipes) that has a stronger construction than arborealmounds and wood nesting since it is made of soil attached by saliva liquid. Shapes of termite nest found namely a rounded shape, a cone shape, a shape that fills in hollow trees, a shape that forms a mound on the ground, and rectangular shape. Some of the termites activities were searching for food outside the nest, consuming remaining food in the nest, and making an attack. The identification results showed that there were 18 termites species from 6 genera of Nasutitermitinae subfamily namely Nasutitermes, Hospitalitermes, Leucopitermes, Longipeditermes, Bulbitermes and Aciculitermes.","PeriodicalId":33660,"journal":{"name":"Biotik Jurnal Ilmiah Biologi Teknologi dan Kependidikan","volume":"46 38 1","pages":""},"PeriodicalIF":0.0,"publicationDate":"2019-11-28","publicationTypes":"Journal Article","fieldsOfStudy":null,"isOpenAccess":false,"openAccessPdf":"","citationCount":null,"resultStr":null,"platform":"Semanticscholar","paperid":"75003089","PeriodicalName":null,"FirstCategoryId":null,"ListUrlMain":null,"RegionNum":0,"RegionCategory":"","ArticlePicture":[],"TitleCN":null,"AbstractTextCN":null,"PMCID":"","EPubDate":null,"PubModel":null,"JCR":null,"JCRName":null,"Score":null,"Total":0}

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keberadaan gajah sumatera dan kondisi habitatnya. Metode yang digunakan adalah survei eksploratif deskriptif dengan mengamati secara langsung pada setiap area lintasan. Data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik SMART untuk mengetahui keberadaan gajah liar dan kondisi habitat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kawasan habitat yang digunakan oleh gajah memiliki frekwensi habitat yang berbeda-beda, terlihat dari jejak gajah yang ditemukan pada jalur lintasan. Jejak gajah lebih banyak ditemukan dibandingkan dengan jejak satwa liar lainnya. Jejak gajah yang ditemukan didominasi oleh jejak kotoran sebanyak 56%, karena jejak kotoran lebih bertahan lama dari pada jejak tapak. Di kawasan ini, gajah lebih suka bermain di hutan sekunder daripada jenis hutan lainnya, dengan persentase temuan pada jenis hutan tersebut sebanyak 53%, karena hutan sekunder seperti di kawasan areal perkebunan banyak menyediakan tempat bernaung dari sinar matahari dan menyediakan pakan muda. Analisis peta citra satelit dalam kurun waktu 10 tahun menggambarkan kondisi habitat kawasan hutan di Kecamatan Peunaron terus menyusut sebanyak 12.726,02 hektar dari total luas Kecamatan Peunaron sebesar 75.187,45 hektar. Ancaman penyusutan hutan didominasi oleh penebangan kayu olahan sebesar 35%, temuan kayu olahan di lapangan mencapai 346,236 m3.
